Navy Stripe Maxi Skirt 2 Ways with Blue and Purple

A few weeks ago I went out Christmas shopping with family. I took the opportunity to stop by a few stores and try on some clothes while someone else could wrangle the boys outside of the changerooms! I shared some of the shopping on my insta stories. As well as getting some gifts, I got a couple of things for myself.

When we reached Target I went straight for the maxi skirts and saw this pretty navy one. Luckily for me, my mum bought it for me for an early Christmas present! I was eager to wear it right away.

This was a great gift as I find the Target maxi skirts absolutely perfect. With comfortable elastic waists it's easy to get a good fit and the two I already own were some of my favourite pieces in pregnancy. Not sure about taller people as it looks more midi length on the website, but they are the perfect length for my petite self. They last too - the other two I have have been worn pretty regularly for 2 and a half years and across two pregnancies and they still look new. Really happy to be adding a third to my wardrobe.

What I wore:

denim jacket purple tank navy stripe maxi skirt Spring SAHM style | AwayFromBlue

metallic silver Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag | AwayFromTheBlue
SunniesRay-Ban new Wayfarers
Jacket: Bubblegum denim jacket
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus teething necklace in pop
TankJeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Royal Lilac purple
Skirt: gifted Target navy side split maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC (on sale in metallic pink!)

Why I wore it:

I like blue and purple together so thought this tank would be great with the navy skirt. Added the denim jacket as it was a little cooler in the morning.

I have quite a large collection of these fitted tanks in many different colours but as I've mentioned before I'm not a fan of feeding in public in them as I feel a little too exposed. I'm trying to wear them on days like this, where I only have to be out for a little while between feeds. I popped out to do a little bit more Christmas shopping. Starting to get overwhelmed with how much there is to do to get ready - but so excited too as it will be Baby Boy's first Christmas.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarerdenim jacket, purple tank, Havaianas, metallic silver mini MAC. First time I've worn the skirt.

Other ways to wear: denim jacket and a maxi skirt, purple tank and a pencil skirt, silver mini MAC and a dress.

What I wore:

monochrome navy spring breastfeeding friendly maxi skirt outfit Louis Vuitton Neverfull | AwayFromBlue

stripes and Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull | AwayFromTheBlue
Necklace: Ruby Olive Softies Charlotte teething necklace
TankMEV Britney bubble tank in mood indigo C/O Zibibo
Skirt: gifted Target navy side split maxi skirt
ShoesRebecca Minkoff Georgina studded gladiator sandals in blush (on sale!)
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch C/O JORD
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

Unlike the purple tank above, this navy one is a special breastfeeding one and is the most discreet feeding top I have. It was perfect to wear for a specialist appointment at Mater in the city for Baby Boy, as I had to feed him in the waiting room. Wanted a big bag to carry all the files and things I needed for the appointment so my Louis Vuitton neverfull was ideal.

I thought this navy tank and skirt would be a nice pairing together. I really liked this monochrome combination. Even if the two shades of navy don't perfectly match!

The checkered print on the bag and the stripes on the skirt were a bit of a stretch to meet the "print and pattern" style challenge for #RuleBreakersClub on Instagram too.

Last worn: navy breastfeeding tank, striped maxi skirt (above), studded gladiator sandals, Louis Vuitton Neverfull.

Other ways to wearnavy breastfeeding tank and blazer, studded sandals and shorts, Louis Vuitton Neverfull in the office.

  2. I love that skirt! I've been looking for one just like it but can't find one long enough for me. Sounds like I'd be out of luck for this one, too. I hope the approach of Christmas isn't too stressful!

  9. Yay for early Christmas presents and yay for people to wrangle the kiddos so you can try on. (; I too love the monochromatic look with the navys. I used to be so weird about wearing all one color. Especially a navy top with denim. I've since embraced it though and own soooo much navy and blues that I rock with jeans.

    1. Navy looks great with denim! :) And yes, having someone watching the kids to make little things like that easier makes such a difference! It's much more leisurely trying things on :)

(As for the cape, I'm not sure why I haven't worn it...just was in the mood for other sweaters I guess, haha)

  13. as a petite princess myself, I'm always having trouble finding maxi skirts and dresses that fit me properly. Like I can hold up a normal, average looking maxi dress against my body, and the bottom half will be trailing at least a foot on the floor. So I can relate with the happiness of finding a good quality maxi skirt that actually fits!

  18. I have an almost identical maxi skirt that I wore throughout pregnancy and in the months afterwards a lot. The elastic waist is perfect for the growing belly. Or the belly that is still huge, but empty ;) Sadly mine was from a French flea market and the quality was´t the best, so it looks pretty battered now.
