There are so many choices you have to make when you have a baby. There are the fun ones, like how to decorate the nursery and the not so fun ones like when to return to work. One of the big decisions you have to make is around diapers: to go with cloth diapers or disposable diapers. You actually do a fair bit of reading to research what your baby will poop in!
There are pros and cons with cloth and disposable, and of course the decision is down to whatever is best for your family. Mums always make the right decision for them. Choice has excellent buying guides (not just for baby-related products) and has one to help you decide what diapers to buy.
If you're thinking about going with cloth diapers like I was at first, have a look at some of the great cloth diaper groups on Facebook to chat to other mums and find out what brand would be best for you and your baby.
In the end, we decided to go with disposables for the boys. Some days when we seem to go through a mountain of disposables I wish I'd gone for cloth diapers. There are days though when I'm very glad we chose disposables. Those days when it doesn't matter where you are, what you're wearing or how stylish you feel...baby has a diaper explosion!
Below are just a handful of outfits I've enjoyed wearing until something escaped from a diaper!
No matter what your diaper of choice is, experience has taught me you always need a few more spare than you think, just in case. That's why this is a great giveaway - you can get $50 USD to go towards more cloth diapers! Check out the huge selection you can spend it on.
You can enter via the rafflecopter below, and remember to leave a blog comment for your entry to be valid. The winner will be judged to have the most creative answer to the question "What was your worst diaper-related experience?", left as a comment on this blog post. With so many times it can all go wrong, from diaper changes to leaky diapers, I'm sure to be sympathising with a few of you!
The giveaway will end on Thursday 22nd September and the winner selected from the comments on this blog post will be emailed with details of how to use their gift card. Diapers.com ships worldwide so the competition is open worldwide.

I was laughing over this - "You actually do a fair bit of reading to research what your baby will poop in!" So true! I did disposables with Jona and will do the same with Violet too. I think if I were staying home and not working full time I would have considered cloth, but I just don't have the time to mess with it now. But the cost-savings (and environmental savings) is appealing for sure!
ReplyDeleteYes I really like the environmental benefits of cloth, but the extra effort I wasn't sure I could handle, not having had a baby before, ha! And now with two I know I have no time... :P
Deletewe use cloth diapers! i think we've only had one blowout with ebf poop and it was totally newbie user error! :)
ReplyDeleteOh glad you've only had one blowout! We had a lot with our son until we settled on the right diapers to use!
Deletemy friend used cloth diapers and loved them! super cute outfits!

Yes they do make some things really easy!

ReplyDeletePurple is awesome! :) Not as much as blue...but still, pretty great colour! :)
DeleteLove all of these, but especially that printed dress!

I think we're done with diapers...hehe...but we actually used both. Our first child, we used cloth for a short time, and it ended up being too much work for me that we switched to disposables. For our two other kids, we decided just to do disposables all the way.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to all the entrants!
PS Loving all the outfits above:)
Disposables do make it easier I find! :)
DeleteI agree--whatever works for you is the best. I have been through both routes as a nanny and I love the disposables, I gotta say.
ReplyDeleteI do love the simplicity of disposables but definitely see the benefits of cloth!
DeleteYou have such great tips! :) What a lovely giveaway x
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing btw, great looks x

Love the looks. Not a mom, but I thought I should stop by. Good luck to all the momies!

We used and are still using sometimes disposables with Penelope, but I won't say I'm against trying cloth ones with baby no. 2 in the future. Couldn't hurt to try, right? (:
ReplyDeleteYes, no harm in keeping your options open! :)
DeleteThe bottom right is my favorite! Isn't that the truth though about diapers exploding! I think I'm past that with my second. He's 13 months and although still nursing, is over the little baby bombs. My daughter is 2 1/2 and its officially fully potty trained!!!!!!!! We did disposable. I think I could have handled cloth with my first but we have so much going on now that it wasn't even a second thought as to pick disposable.
ReplyDeleteManda | http://ASparklingStickyStyle.com
Yes I didn't even entertain the thought of cloth with my second either, haha! It's great your daughter is potty trained! :)
Deleteoh my goodness. my son learned to take his diapers off at about ... 1 year old and he used to PAINT ME PICTURES with his poop... everywhere! walls, tables, etc....
ReplyDeleteOh no! That would not be fun to clean up!!!
DeleteWhat a great giveaway Mica! My mom used both! I love the choices that mother's have now. Great outfits! Had a good chuckle when you said when something escapes the diaper. LOL

Yes we are lucky to have so much choice!
DeleteI guess diapers can be a whole science when it comes to it ;) Love all of your outfits! The printed dress is especially gorgeous.

haha it is, it is!
Deletethis giveaway is indeed perfect for your mom readers. I'm not a mom yet, so I'll skip this one, but I think cloth diapers are really cool and good read for environment. Some of my friends use them.
ReplyDeleteFabulous outfits btw...very stylish. I especially like the first one.
They are so good for the environment as you don't add to landfill like you do with disposables!
DeleteI love how u said u loved the outfits "until something escaped from a diaper"! Too cute... :)
ReplyDeletethe politest way I could think to sum it up, haha!
DeleteHaha! I am so glad to be rid of diapers for now! No matter which you choose there are definite positives and negatives and your outfits are never safe!
ReplyDeleteVery true! I look forward to the diaper free days!
DeleteSuch cute outfits! I am on my last one in diapers and she is just starting to use the potty! I can't wait to be done with diapers! It's like a whole new Mama world! :)

Apparently the pampers diaper explode with all those gel beads when your son decides to just rip his diaper off himself and rub it and it's belongings on the wall, crib and mattress. Yea good times
ReplyDeleteOh no! That would be so difficult to clean up! I can't even imagine!
DeleteSooo glad we are almost out of nappies entirely - just overnight now and I can see that being phased out in the next few months. The environmental impact did have me considering cloth nappies but in the end I chose disposables for my mental health.
ReplyDeleteYes I don't know how I thought I could handle all that washing and a newborn - I do enough laundry as it is, haha!
DeleteWow, I need to forward this to some of my mom friends! What a great giveaway :D

Poop leaking on my clothes in public has been my worst diaper experience. Guess I've been relatively lucky so far.
ReplyDeleteIt's the worst when it happens in public, especially when you have nothing to change into!
DeleteMine is when my child's diaper came undone and everything leaked inside their clothes.
ReplyDeleteOh no!
DeleteWe decided to go for disposables as well for both kids. I wasn´t sure if I could handle the additional work cloth brings.
ReplyDeleteMy worst experience? I guess the first times I put a diaper on my boy, not knowing there are extra precautions you don't have to take with a daughter...
Linda, Libra, Loca: Beauty, Baby and Backpacking
haha yes we got caught out with that in hospital too, the nappies I remembered changing were my younger cousins - all girls! The midwife had to point out what we were doing wrong, ha!
DeleteThe first week my son was in cloth diapers (he was about 16 months) I wasn't warned that they allow your child to feel that they're wet faster than a disposable diaper. And he "tried" to take it off... In the car... With poop in it. It was ALLL over the place. On the windows, ALL over his car seat, all over him. It was the middle of summer, so he just had his diaper on because we just left my sister in laws house and was driving home. My poor sister in law had to sit there next to him until we got home. She was talking to my sister and looking away from him.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Your poor sister in law - and everyone in the car! - would not have had a good trip! I can't even imagine the mess.
DeleteCongrats on winning, hope you can put it towards a few more diapers so you have some spare in case of any future car emergencies!
My worst diaper related experience was putting my son in a brand new amazing outfit after having just pulled the tags off then massive blowout down the entire thing. I was never able to get it clean. He never got to wear it. I think that was my last time buying him new clothes. Lol.
ReplyDeleteAngela Ingles
Aww, no! It's always so frustrating when it happens to the nicer clothes! :( I've had to throw out a few pieces too...
DeleteOmg :-) I remember those diapers moment. My worst experience was after I dressed my daughter for church in the cutest outfit ever (it contain a tutu). She became really fussy in her carseat, so I took her out and later realize after the horrible smell... I had poop all over my dress and arm!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely on all your outfits! My fav is with the pencil skirt
Thank you for linking up with Weekend Wear,

Melissa
Oh no how horrible! I can't even imagine - hope you could rescue both your outfits!
DeleteI can't think of a worst experience but they haven't been very pleasant that's for sure lol
ReplyDeletehaha no pleasant is not the word that comes to mind when thinking of diapers!
DeleteI guess that my worst diaper experience is a blow out!
ReplyDeleteNancy
allibrary (at) aol (dot) com
The blow-outs are the worst!
DeleteMy worst has just been blowouts when he was a newborn! We havent had a blowout in ages now though since he has ate solids since 6 months! :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes solids change things up again! :)
DeleteRunning out! Now I pack more than I'll ever need.
ReplyDeletehaha, me too! My diaper bag is full of nappies mostly!
Deletecar seat blow outs= the worst. Also when you somehow run out of diapers in the car and have a diaper-less baby.
ReplyDeleteOh yes running out is so difficult as you never know if you'll make it to the destination in time without a diaper being needed!
DeleteThe diaper days are long over but I remember a few disasters! Love your outfit roundup, especially the ombre knit and scarf!
ReplyDeleteJill
Doused In Pink
I think everyone has a few disasters, hehe!
DeleteIt would definitely be when each of my children learned how to take their diapers off. You can imagine what the mess was like. I was gagging as I was cleaning
ReplyDeleteOh I'm not looking forward to the day my toddler starts doing that!
DeleteSo exciting that its getting warmer. I cant wait until i can wear bare legs/arms again!!
ReplyDeleteSo many decisions with nappies. I went disposables as I couldn't handle the washing! ;)
Yes there is so much washing already with a baby!
DeleteMy diaper story, I was changing my baby I think 4 months old at the time. I was sitting on couch and she was in front of me on the ottoman. I was holding her legs up, I turned to grab a wipe next to me, and heard a small poof, I look and she poop on me! It was all over my shirt! It was so quiet poof, I could not believe all that poop can out of her! We all had a good laugh and still do. Thanks for giveaway
ReplyDeletehaha it's always when you least expect it! Babies like to surprise you don't they!
DeleteIt is the taking off the diaper worst experience. My son had projectile loose bowel as I lifted his legs to change him. It was not pretty. My silk nighty was ruined. :(
ReplyDeleteOh no! I wouldn't want to keep my clothes after that either!
DeleteThanks for such a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteFirst time we took baby girl out for lunch we got her out of her carrier to show her off in her pretty dress....poop everywhere. And because I was a first time mom I was NOT prepared. Funny looking back now!
ReplyDeleteI think the contents of a baby bag change after that first experience! Hope lunch wasn't ruined!
DeleteMy worst diaper-related experience was when a diaper velcro came loose and poo came all out of his diaper onto his clothes.
ReplyDeleteIT's the worst when it gets onto their clothes!
DeleteVery cute outfits! I never understood how a diaper explosion could result with poop on my clothes but not on baby's...yes, that has happened to me more than once! And always in restaurants, it seems. I am so glad to be past the days of diapers!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up with me On the Edge. I hope to see you again this week. Have a beautiful day!

Sometimes they just defy the laws of physics!
DeleteI remember with my first daughter ( 25+ years ago) we ran out of diapers but because the tabs on the older diapers were glue we always had one or two good diapers but no tabs. Anyways, my husband was watching her and when I came home with diapers later I immediately ran her a bath. I was surprised when I undressed her and he had used several strips of ducttape to keep her diaper on. I wish I would have taken a picture because he had ducttape everywhere.
ReplyDeleteOh this made me giggle! What a resourceful hubby!
DeleteThe worst is finding yourself without one when you're at an outdoor festival. That was rough.
ReplyDeleteEek! YOu wouldn't have been able to easily buy more either!
DeleteThere have been some bad diaper blow outs that were pretty terrible. My daughter (age 1) pooped through to her bouncy seat a few months ago.
ReplyDeleteOh that would not have been fun to clean!
DeleteMy worst diaper experience was when I tried a new diaper for the first time, and it was too big - So when we woke up in the morning, my daughter completely peed through her diaper.. Which I found out, once I picked her up, and got it all over me too. We both ended up with baths first thing in the morning, lol.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Glad you could just hop into the bath at least! :)
