Long Sleeved Dresses And Micro Bedford Bag

With autumn weather arriving near the end of April, I've changed my usual "grocery shopping during coronavirus pandemic" outfit formula a little. I pulled out some longer sleeved dresses for the cooler weather. Both of these haven't been worn in a while and were definitely overdue a wear!

ShoesNew Balance white and blue sneakers
BagRebecca Minkoff Micro Bedford zip satchel in twilight

Why I wore it:

This striped tee dress is a firm favourite of mine but doesn't get worn as much as the other ones I have as the thicker fabric and longer sleeves make it a little warm for much of the year here in Brisbane. It was perfect on this colder autumn morning though, as I left the kids with hubby working from home as I went out for groceries. I try go get groceries early in the day so that the crowds will be smaller. Doesn't guarantee that there will be more stock there, but does mean the store is quieter.

I do like wearing this dress with my Converse so these sneakers are just another take on that, even if I think they are a bit uglier than my Converse! I'm sticking to the same accessories each time I leave the house so I don't need to contaminate things by bringing them back inside to change them over. It did create a very monochromatic outfit with the navy bag and navy striped dress together, and I did wish I'd have picked a different colour of bag as my go-to over for grocery shopping 😂 maybe a pink one, I like wearing pink bags with this dress!

Why I wore it:

Like the striped tee dress above, this isn't frequently worn. It's a great shift style but hasn't gotten a lot of love as the length makes it a bit tricky to wear around the kids. Even though the striped one only has a slightly more dipped hem in the back, this feels a bit shorter. Perfect for a solo trip to the grocery store though, again with the same shoes and bag as above. I have to say my knee is loving only wearing these supportive shoes every time I go out in the car, driving is the thing that hurts my injured knee the most.

Unfortunately, unlike the striped dress above, this dress is not as stretchy and forgiving and highlighted to me the high levels of chocolate consumption going on in home isolation here, ha! Always tempting to sneak a bit from my secret pantry stash when I'm getting the boys yet another snack... 😂

Graphic Tees & Skinny Jeans: Working From Home Style | Weekday Wear Link Up

Keeping it simple for my working from home style during isolation, with graphic tees and skinny jeans. Both of these jeans are extremely comfortable, perfect for sitting at my computer and yet practical for jumping up every few minutes to help the kids with their online learning, or to get them yet another snack 😂

What I wore:

TeeUniqlo Mickey Mouse 'Mickey Stands' short sleeve graphic tee
JeansNobody Denim Siren skinny super high-rise jeans in power black denim (c/o)
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas

Why I wore it:

It's crazy to think I first wore this tee a year ago when we were in Disneyland Paris, as part of our Europe trip. Seems like a lifetime ago now, especially with all the changes around the world and the travel restrictions. It was fun to wear this again, I did the cliche "get everyone Mickey tees to wear to Disneyland" thing and I wasn't sure how much wear it would get afterwards but I have worn it a handful of times. Much more than I expected. It's super soft and has such good memories attached.

The floral kimono was needed in the cooler morning, as it was a bit of a dressier option than my usual dressing gown for staying warm! I did end up taking it off at lunchtime though.

Really liked how this outfit turned out - the high amount of stretch in these Nobody denim skinny jeans make them so comfortable to wear!

What Bag I'd Wear With These Outfits:

While I'm at home my bags are staying in my wardrobe, but if I was wearing these outfits outside the house I'd wear this bag with them. It's the perfect neutral.

Tee: Kisschasy blue tape band tee
Jeans: Jeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas

Why I wore it:

Another pair of super comfortably jeans, I actually wore these on our long-haul flights from Brisbane to Europe last year - very comfortable for being at home. Again, it was nice to get out of the pyjamas and loungewear I've been wearing a lot lately while isolating at home with social distancing.

This Kisschasy tee hasn't got a lot of wear - it was from one of their earlier tours, but after Jess had a challenge to wear band tees it got me going through my big box of tees from concerts I went to pre-kids and I found this. I realised this should come into my regular wardrobe, it's fun to wear. I like how the lighter blue went with these olive skinny jeans too! I've worn them a lot with navy in the past, it's nice to try a different shade.

Kmart Tiered Floral Print Dresses

Even though it's autumn in Brisbane it's good to give these Kmart tiered floral dresses another wear before I start layering up - especially as we had a very warm April, when I wore these. Two very different occasions though, one to stay home and another for my weekly grocery shop!

What I wore:

Kmart Tropicana sleeveless tiered maxi dress floral print for easter at home 2020 awayfromblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | Easter at home isolation outfit floral tiered Kmart maxi dress
Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Dress: Kmart Tropicana sleeveless tiered maxi dress
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas

Why I wore it:

I wore this back on Easter Sunday. I'd ordered some eggs for the boys, with guaranteed Easter delivery, but as it hadn't shown up I'd had to make the dash to the shops for something for them to hunt for the day before. I was feeling a bit upset about not having the things I ordered and the limited options at the stores the day before Easter, as well as the sadness of celebrating another isolation birthday on the same day and missing both my family and our church family. So I decided to dress up anyway to boost my mood. This pretty floral maxi dress is one I've had a few years but it hasn't actually been worn on Easter before, seemed like the perfect thing to wear.

It was a strange Easter at home, but we still had an indoor egg hunt for the boys, they got dressed up in their Sunday best too, and we video called with family for Easter and to celebrate the isolation birthday. We even had birthday cake, and thanks to Church Online we had our church service at home too.

Dress: Kmart strappy tiered sundress in watercolour blue and blush print

Why I wore it:

I actually wore this dress outside! Continuing with my "grocery shopping uniform", a simple dress, the only shoes and bag I wear outside now, my Rebecca Minkoff micro Bedford bag. All my other bags are stored away in my handbag cupboard waiting for a time when it will be a bit safer to change bags around and bring bags I've worn outside back into the house.

The navy blue of the bag matches the background of the dress really closely, and if I hadn't been restricting myself to just taking one bag out whenever I leave the house I probably would have changed this for something with a little more contrast.

Didn't wear this all for very long though - went out, got groceries and then as soon as I got home put the accessories away and changed out of these clothes. Because despite social distancing rules in place people seem to think it's okay to reach over you and walk up next to you at the supermarket! At least there was a little more stock on the shelves this time.

A floral dress is so easy to dress up or down - perfect for celebrating at home or navigating the aisle of the grocery store. Floral prints aren't just for spring either, they work well all year round, as I wore these on warmer autumn days.
