What's In My Bag: #ItsInTheBag2019 Nappy Bag For Share The Dignity

A special what's in my bag post today as I'm sharing what I have pulled together for Share the Dignity's It's In The Bag Christmas campaign!

Share The Dignity provides sanitary products to those in need across Australia and every year at Christmas time they have the drive to donate a little more than just pads or tampons.

You can fill a new or gently used bag with some essentials and a few (non-food) treats to make a woman, teen or new mum smile. Last year I donated a handbag for a woman in need, this year I am donating a nappy bag for a mum and baby.

What's Inside My Nappy Bag:

A little more about what's in the bag and why is in my video!

I had so much fun putting this bag together! As you can see, it had to be quite a big bag to fit all the essentials in it so I went with this pink and grey Kmart gym bag. Nothing else was big enough! I had forgotten just how many things you need as a new mum, now my youngest is 3 and a half! I ticked off all of the essentials from the list for mum (things like breast pads, maternity pads, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner) and for baby (nappies, wipes, nappy balm). With the little space I had left I added some extras for mum, like a hairbrush, lip balm, tote bag and of course a little hand written card.

I can't imagine being a new mum at Christmas time in a shelter or homeless and so I hope that this bag helps a little. While I picked up a lot on sale spreading my shopping out over time, I also picked up things we use and love at home for the boys. I've shared my review of the Mater baby products before on the blog when I collaborated with them, but this post, like last years It's In The Bag post, was not paid for in any way and I purchased the Mater products myself.

Ways You Can Help

  • Share The Dignity has some great ideas about what you can put in your bag to give to a woman, mother or child in need. See what to put in a bag for a lady, teen or new mum. You can donate your bag at your local Bunnings from Friday 22nd November to Saturday 7th November.
  • If you don't have a new or gently used bag to donate to the Christmas campaign, why not take part in the sanitary products drive in April or August next year?
  • If you're not in Australia and still want to help women in need, have a look and see if there are any charities in your country that put together blessing bags. Similar things I found on google are blessing bags in the US and bags of kindness in the UK.

What You Can Include In Your Nappy Bag:

There are so many ways to give back at Christmas time. If your heart aches for men, women, children, mothers, animals or families in need, Christmas is a great time to give back. I loved being able to do a little something for a struggling mum this year and hope in some small way it brings a little joy at Christmas time.

I'd love to do this again next year too! Have you done something like this before? What should I include in my next bag?

Note: My posts, like this one, are usually written 2-3 weeks in advance. I had to add on this updated note though. We are safe from the bushfires, as are our family and friends. Peplum Tops Bright Skinny Jeans And Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC Bags

I might be trying to stay away from the blue jeans rut but there's no denying jeans are a mum staple! I paired some of my colourful skinny jeans with anther great mum-friendly piece, peplum tops (perfect for hiding a mum-tum!). Accessorised both these outfits with my go-to Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bags.

What I wore:

Tee: thrifted black and white space dye peplum tee
Jeans: thrifted Emerson red skinny jeans

Why I wore it:

If you haven't been following along on Instagram, I'm on a quest to take outfit photos near all the jacaranda trees we pass when we are out 😂 A sure sign of spring in Brisbane, when everything is blanketed in beautiful purple flowers for a few short weeks.

I took the boys out to a local park and drove down this street - I knew it would be the perfect spot for photos. I may have picked this street to drive by because my friends took beautiful wedding photos here with the jacarandas, ha! You can see them lined up the street behind me there too. With two young kids though I needed to stick to the paths so picked this not too tall tree to pose by. My youngest boy decided to spend his time waiting while his brother took pics searching for the perfect fallen jacaranda flower to give me, and once he picked it he just couldn't wait on the sidelines any longer! You can't see as I cropped him out of that first photo, but he stood close by and in the frame of every shot after giving me the flower, ha!

That's life with toddlers though - and I like the photobomber outtakes as they have his cute little face in them! Photos done and flower safely stored away we spent a few hours in the playground.

Outfit wise I kept it simple, this comfortable peplum tee was a great neutral with the bright red skinny jeans. Both the tee and jeans were thrift finds, as is the statement necklace. The metallic silver mini MAC bag seemed like a good neutral to accessorise with.

Why I wore it:

Another brightly coloured outfit, with another pair of colourful jeans. These purple jeans are often worn with blue, and they are the first thing that came to mind when this navy bird print peplum tank popped up on my Instagram archive - it inspired me to get the tank out again. I'm sure I'm not the only personal style Instagrammer being inspired to pull pieces out again or try outfit combos after seeing things pop up on the Instagram archive! With the pink bird print I went with pink accessories: the blush necklace and the neon pink mini MAC bag was an extra burst of colour.

As it was forecast to rain most of the day we headed around the furniture stores and Ikea, keeping out of the worst of the weather and missing the storms entirely.

Perfect for pregnancy: purple skinny jeans in the first trimester.

Peplum Tops Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A peplum top is a great piece to wear with jeans. Super comfortable and great for hiding a mum-tum or a food baby, it's a nice little frill detail that elevates a tank or tee. For an extra bright outfit, you can try wearing a pair of colourful jeans instead of a classic black or blue pair.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Printed Dresses And Blush Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Small Darren

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm sharing my solution for those "I don't know what to wear to the office" days, a pretty printed dress! Both of these dresses are oldies in my wardrobe, so I tried something different with them this time and wore them with statement necklaces, and my adorable little blush Rebecca Minkoff small Darren bag.

What I wore:

Necklace: thrifted black and grey floral crystal statement necklace
DressJeanswest Aztec print dress
BeltRebecca Minkoff Liv double wrap velvet belt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
Bag:  Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony

Why I wore it:

I'm always surprised to see I haven't hit 30 wears with this dress yet! I bought it back in 2012 and it's been such a staple in my wardrobe, I would have thought it was one of my most worn pieces! It definitely feels like I've should have worn it more than 19 times...

This is the first time I've worn this blush bag with the dress and I really liked the combination of the navy Ikat print with the blush bag. I felt it needed a belt so picked this one to wear, even though the belt has gold hardware and the bag is silver, it was the best I had at the time and I didn't dislike the mixed metals with the belt, bag, shoes and statement necklace as much as I thought I would when I wore it!

I've been using just 3 belts for quite a while now, this one included. I boxed up the rest of my belts while pregnant and house hunting years ago and they have only just been found (we moved into our new house months ago, ha!). Despite having to throw a few of them out as pleather being stored in the Queensland heat and humidity never ends well, it flakes and peels.... I'm excited I'll have more belt choice again!

Last worn: Ikat print dress, crystal statement necklace, velvet double wrap belt, metallic ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag.

Other ways to wearIkat print dress with purple, velvet double wrap belt and sheath dress, metallic ballet flats and jeans, Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag and maxi dress.

Why I wore it:

Another simple printed dress outfit for a busy day at work. I like the ease of this dress, just throw on and go. This time around I decided to add a bit more colour to the blush and white print with the big neon crystal statement necklace. I really liked the unexpected combination, and as always happens whenever I wear this necklace, it got a lot of compliments!

The blush Rebecca Minkoff small Darren bag matches the pink in the fern print of the dress nicely, and the classic black Walnut Melbourne ballet flats match the black base of the dress. A matchy-matchy outfit that made me happy!

Printed Dresses Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A printed dress is an easy throw on and go outfit when you're not sure what to wear, and a knee length one like these is great for an office environment. You can add a little extra interest with a bold statement necklace like I have here or keep it simple and let the print on the dress be the only statement in your outfit.
