Scarves, Singlets and Maxi Skirts with Rebecca Minkoff Mini MACs

My 900th post! I've been blogging what I've wore for over 4 years now. Crazy to see that's meant 900 posts though, wow! And of course it would end up being a post where I talk about my love of accessories. Scarves, like handbags, are things I can never seem to get enough of.

I've been wearing my maternity singlets and maxi skirts a fair bit, so I've been thinking of ways to try make the outfit combination a little different each time I wear it. Although it's Autumn in Brisbane, the summer heat stuck around for a while and it was 30°C on the days I wore the outfits below. Lightweight scarves were the only layering option I could stand in those temperatures! The scarves help break up the boredom and repetition I've been feeling with my third trimester capsule wardrobe.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | crochet scarf with all black outfit singlet and maxi skirt third trimester

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff metallic mini MAC silver and pink bracelet stack
Scarf: white Target crochet detail scarf
SingletJeanswest maternity tank in black
Skirt: Target black and white striped maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes pink clic clac and enamel coated Marc By Marc Jacobs Katie bracelet (on sale in rose gold!)
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC (on sale in black!)

Why I wore it:

Wore this to our regular weekly playgroup session. Last time I'd tried a black tank with this maxi skirt I thought it was missing a little something, and that a scarf would have been a good option.

I really liked this outfit, much preferred the scarf to break up the black a little. Felt happy and comfortable in this all day - and the pink bracelets were a nice way to add just a little bit of colour.

Last worn: crochet detail scarf, black maternity tank, striped maxi skirt, Havaianas, metallic mini MAC.

Other ways to wearcrochet scarf and chambray dress, black maternity tank and denim shorts, striped maxi skirt and a graphic tee, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC worn as a clutch.

More cute and colourful Rebecca Minkoff Mini MACs (most on sale!):

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Maternity singlet and maxi skirt combo with red accessories skull scarf and mini MAC

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe
SingletJeanswest maternity tank in white
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
BagRebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

Why I wore it:

Another playgroup outfit! Being on maternity leave, I'm looking for new places to go with toddler T until the baby arrives, so we checked out another local group that we hadn't been to before, as well as running a couple of errands.

Felt this mini MAC hadn't been worn in a while, and with the red stripes it tied in nicely with the red skull print scarf.

Last worn: red skull scarf, white maternity tank, jersey maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Rebecca Minkoff canvas mini MAC.

Other ways to wearred skull scarf to dress up a SAHM outfit, white maternity tank and denim shorts, jersey maxi skirt and a graphic teeboho dress and Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC.

Have a wonderful Easter. If you are celebrating God's great victory and the gift of life, or if you are just enjoying the food and family festivities I hope it's a relaxing and enjoyable time for you.

Colourful Tanks: Red, Kimono and Skinny Jeans | Blue and Striped Maxi Skirt

Two more casual outfits with some colourful tank tops. I have an embarrassingly high number of basic block colour tanks but as I mentioned before, I don't wear them nearly enough! I've been trying to wear them more before the Autumn weather takes hold and they get used for layering and hidden under knits.

What I wore:

Choies red vintage pattern kimono Jeanswest prima denim skinny jeans

Rebecca Minkoff coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe printed kimono
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
JacketChoies red vintage pattern kimono
NecklaceRoie Designs pearl and antique gold long necklace
Tank: Cotton On red singlet
JeansJeanswest Bindi skinny 7/8 jeans in indigo luxe
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

Why I wore it:

It's not the first time I've worn this printed kimono with a bright tank. The print would look nice with a striped top too, but I'm pretty happy wearing it with some plain block-colour tops. I had such a hard time looking up last time I wore this tank. I have a deep pink tank from Jeanswest, and this berry red tank from Cotton On. They are both really similar. I noticed it after I bought the Jeanswest one, when I got it home and went to put it in my wardrobe with the rest of my tanks. I probably should have returned it, but figured they were slightly different enough that I could keep them. Of course now when I add my little details under each picture of what I was wearing, I can never tell if it was the red tank or the deep pink one as they are so similar! This time it was definitely the red one, but I'm not convinced that this was the last time I wore it, I'm sure I've worn it again after that and just not tagged it correctly on the blog!

I thought the striped canvas mini MAC bag would look nice with the printed kimono, similar colours. I had been wanting to wear this bag again for a while, I seem to always pick my aquamarine mini MAC more often. I was hoping to take a video for my youtube channel with this bag after wearing it, as someone had requested one, but I ran out of time and daylight. Baby T's grandparents were over in the afternoon, but I didn't realise I should have taken advantage of the babysitting to shoot a video until after they left, ha!

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, printed kimono, red tank, prima denim skinny jeans, Havaianas, striped canvas mini MAC.

Other ways to wear: red kimono with black and gold, ombre outfit with a red tank (and third trimester baby belly!) print mixing with skinny jeans, red striped mini MAC with navy shirt dress.

What I wore:

MEV Britney bubble nursing tank striped maxi skirt Balenciaga tempete day bag

Away From Blue Balenciaga tempete Day bag silver giant g21 hardware
Necklace: freshwater pearl strand necklace
TankMEV Britney bubble tank in mood indigo C/O Zibibo
SkirtAT by Atmos&Here Mars striped maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

Why I wore it:

Long time since I last wore this tank. It's a nursing tank I got while I was pregnant, and I wore it until the baby bump got too big for it. Then it kinda got lost in my wardrobe. I set it aside one day to wear to one of my mother's group catch-ups, but didn't make it out that day and so it got pushed to the back of my wardrobe for 'next time'. It was uncovered (along with a few other tops) during my wardrobe detox with the personal stylist. I didn't give them nearly as much love as I thought I would in the early breastfeeding days! The combo of jumper/cardigan over a breastfeeding singlet worked quite well for me. And pretty much any top becomes suitable for breastfeeding when you have one of those singlets underneath.

I thought I'd wear this tank out again for a morning at playgroup with baby and then shopping and lunch in the afternoon. As the stylist said as we went through my wardrobe, you'd never know this was a nursing top unless it was pointed out. I wore it with my blue Balenciaga because I seem to be grabbing that bag a lot for playgroup recently!

Couldn't decide on a necklace to wear with this in the morning - in the end I went for this knotted stand of freshwater pearls which also hasn't been worn recently. Held up quite well when baby T tugged on it through the day too. Does anyone remember that trend a while back where everyone had long beaded necklaces and just tied a knot in them to add 'interest'? Or was that just me? I had so many at one point!

Last worn: breastfeeding tank, striped maxi skirt, Havaianas (above), Balenciaga tempete day bag.

Other ways to wear: navy tank with a striped pencil skirt, print mixing with a striped maxi skirt, Balenciaga day bag in summer.

Rebecca Minkoff Mini MACs. Grey Tank, Paisley Skirt | Red Leopard Print Dress

Here's what I wore on Wednesday:
grey tank paisley print skater skirt RM mini MAC

Rebecca Minkoff aqua mini MAC Roie design labradorite silver bracelet stack
Sunnies: gifted Cotton On 'Risky Business' sunglasses in sky blue
Necklace: Lovisa turquoise and silver long disc necklace

SkirtMinkpink grey and black paisley print skirt
Shoes: gifted black slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs labradorite bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff mini MAC with python embossed leather in aquamarine

Just a nice casual outfit. I liked the grey tank with the grey skirt, but added a bit of colour with my bag and necklace so the outfit wouldn't be too dull (same bag as I wore Tuesday). Had to go to the tailors to pick up my newly shortened dress I'm wearing for Christmas, so this was a nice outfit for walking around in the heat of the day. Have had the dress for years but never worn it out as it's always been a bit long. I'm just too clumsy to trust that I won't step on the hem, haha!

Decided that this year, I'd wear a dress I already own rather than going out and buying a new dress just for Christmas day. Sticking with my plan of wearing more of my wardrobe :)

Last worn: blue sunglasses, grey tank, paisley print skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC.

Spent today with family. When our days off align, it's good to spend some time together with my mum and sister. We went shopping in the morning and then had a big dinner with everyone in the evening, it was lovely.

Wasn't too sure of the striped bag with the leopard print dress at first, but I think it looks good in the pictures. What do you think?

Rebecca Minkoff Mini MACs: Jeanswest Grey Maxi Dress | Red Singlet, Striped Skirt

Here's what I wore on Saturday:

Necklace: Lovisa silver love knitted heart pendant necklace
DressJeanswest 'Elodie' tie dye grey jersey maxi dress

Simple maxi dress for Saturday. We had people over and then a birthday dinner to attend in the evening, so the maxi was perfect for both being at home and going out later. Kept me cool in the heat too.

Not sure the placement of the elastic waist on this dress is flattering with a baby bump, but it felt comfortable all day so the dress is staying in my current wardrobe for a while longer.

Last worn: Ray Bans, grey maxi dress, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff aqua mini MAC.

Here's what I wore today:

Today DH and I went shopping, so I wore a nice outfit for walking around in the heat. The side-slit on this maxi skirt goes up to just past my knee so it's really cooling when a breeze catches it. Happy to be able to wear this skirt with tucked in tops now too that I'm not worrying about hiding the bump in photos. Although it's got an elasticated waist, there is not a lot of give in it so not sure how much longer this will be a current wardrobe item, hehe!

I've been slowly taking things out of my wardrobe and putting them into storage for later in the year when they might fit again. Already my swimwear has had to be put away until after baby's arrival, as I've outgrown it. Quite sad, as I love my Funkita bikinis. They have a new collection out now though, which has more of the great colourful prints I love, so it's time to upgrade to a more pregnancy friendly size!

The collection is called 'We the People' and it's available online now at the Funkita website. It's a tough choice for me between the 'Colour Love' stripes and 'Peacock Paradise' print, as I've seen such great campaign photos featuring both. What would you choose, stripes or peacock print?

Last worn: Ray Bans (see above), red singlet, stripe maxi skirt, Havaianas (see above), Rebecca Minkoff canvas mini MAC.

Dresses, Ankle Boots, Scarves and Rebecca Minkoff Bags For Spring

While the weather is warming up as summer is arriving soon here in Brisbane, I took advantage of a few cooler days to wear a much loved spring outfit formula: dresses and ankle boots. I added some cute scarves for an extra touch of colour too!

What I wore:

little black boho sundress in spring ankle boots mustard accessories scarf micro regan bag | awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue instagram | twirling in tiered black strappy sundress mustard scarf and bag
ScarfJeanswest Lucille golden yellow scarf
Dress: Kmart Aztec print tiered little black dress
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
BagRebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold

Why I wore it:

It's not the first time I've worn mustard yellow with this dress and definitely won't be the last - I really like the combination! A nice and simple outfit with the black printed dress, ankle boots and matching mustard accessories for a quiet day with the boys. We ran a few errands. I picked up my Christmas dress at Jeanswest (as the first store I went to didn't have my size!) and grabbed some groceries after spending some time at the library. Nice relaxing day.

As we weren't in a rush to be anywhere that morning and could set our own pace for the day, I decided to try snap another twirl pic with this dress. It twirls so beautifully, it's just not easy to capture on camera! I was pleased with the shot I got.

Scarf: navy bird print scarf
DressJeanswest Rachel Lyocell chambray dress (C/O)
ShoesAsos leather Chelsea boots in tan

Why I wore it:

Making use of the easy, comfortable outfit formula and wearing a dress and ankle boots again for another quiet day with the boys. I really treasure the SAHM days I get when working part time. On this day, despite the warm sunny weather, we spent the day inside at the library for music time, and then running a couple of errands before heading home. I did kinda wish we'd spent the day outside instead when the rain set it in for the rest of the week, and we were forced to stay indoors, ha!

I was sure that I'd worn this bird print scarf and the chambray dress together before, I was quite surprised to find that I hadn't when I searched through the blog. With the blue dress and scarf together and neutral tan ankle boots, I thought the red striped mini MAC bag waas a cute touch of colour. And a little bit of print mixing.

Floral Swing Dresses In Winter With Cardigans and Ankle Boots

Just as I try to wear most of my wardrobe year-round, I don't reserve prints for a particular season. While florals are great to wear in spring and summer, they are so easy to layer up for winter too, as I've done here with these light floral dresses.

What I wore:

ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
DressZaful floral print ruffle hem dress in ginger
ShoesAsos leather Chelsea boots in tan
BagRebecca Minkoff Regan Satchel Tote in moon

Why I wore it:

I didn't set out to wear this dress without a jacket. I'd planned to put a cardigan over the top, but quickly realised that the tight sleeves over the statement bell sleeves on this dress weren't going to work! I rushed out the door in the morning anyway as I had to drop the boys off at daycare and it wasn't too cold. When the rain set in later in the afternoon and I had to go to the dentist though I spent a few minutes hunting in my wardrobe and decided on a leather jacket, the thicker material hiding any bunching up of the sleeve. Next time I wear this dress I'll definitely have to wear it with a leather jacket!

This scarf helped keep me cosy too - with it being a wool blend it's so snuggly and warm to wear. I liked the bold blue against the mustard of the dress too, a great colour combination.

The red lip was me trying a Charlotte Tilbury lip tint I won in a giveaway a while back. A very bold red, I made the mistake of wearing it without makeup and think I really need makeup so my face doesn't look as deathly pale with it, ha!

While it wasn't a particularly exciting day, working from home with the daycare drop off / pick up and a dentist appointment, sometimes it's nice just to throw on a pretty dress anyway, and it's been a while since I last wore this one.

Rebecca Minkoff Canvas Vs Leather Mini MAC

What I wore:

JacketJeanswest waterfall drape cardigan in scarlett marle
DressShein navy flower print flowy dress (C/O)
Shoes: RMK Chester black ankle boots
BagRebecca Minkoff striped coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

Why I wore it:

Unlike the first outfit, I didn't love this one as much! We had a relative over from Western Australia, and it's been so long since we last saw each other I'm not actually sure when we saw each other last! Now both grown up with kids, it was fun for the kids to get together and we headed into the city. I wanted to wear something pretty for our outing to seem a little dressed up so I decided on this floral dress, and thought the red cardigan would work nicely with it. I realised as I was about to rush out the door that while the colour combo looked nice, the shapes together didn't. I should have thrown a belt over this, but didn't have time so I wore it anyway.

Not my worst outfit, but definitely not my favourite. After walking around some markets in the city, we went to the Winter Wonderland ice rink in King George Square. They had a snow tubing slide set up where you could slide down some 'snow' (really more like ice!) of course all the kids wanted to do it, even Baby Boy. I ended up having to go with him as he was too little to go himself. 4 year old T was fearless and was happy to slide down himself with his new friend (as long as I dragged his snow tube up the stairs....!) and Baby Boy and I had to wiggle into one tube. Not a problem, just a little difficult to do in a dress, especially getting out the tube at the bottom of the hill with everyone watching!

45 minutes into the hour long session I had to admit defeat and I traded my ticket with hubby who took the little one up and down the hill.

After a very delicious lunch at the Pancake manor we said our goodbyes and headed home, where the boys had massive naps!

Zara Belted Tunic Dress, Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC | Grey Top, Skinny Jeans, Louis Vuitton Neverfull

Here's what I wore on Sunday:
Zara printed bib front tunic dress worn belted over second trimester baby bump

Rebecca Minkoff coated canvas berry stripe mini MAC
NecklaceDogeared 3 Wishes stardust bead necklace
Dress: Zara printed bib front tunic dress
Belt: C/O Poppywinkle brown weave belt
Shoes: Wittner 'Columbia' cross strap sandals in tan
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

The last time I wore this dress I'd picked it out as it was lightweight and it hid the baby bump nicely in photos. Although in person it was impossible to hide when I moved :) Now, the bump definitely isn't hidden in photos any more! So amazing being able to see the pregnancy progress through my blog. Really blessed!

Wore the dress again today as it was a lightweight and easy option for the heat. Although the combination of the belt and the baby bump made it a little shorter than I liked when the breeze picked up. Hopefully I can wear it again in pregnancy, just maybe when it's cooler with leggings underneath.

Last worn: printed dress, weave belt, Wittner sandals, Rebecca Minkoff canvas mini MAC.

Today I had another training course outside of the office. I much prefer wearing jeans to training days, as you never know how cold the rooms will be, from experience it's mostly too cold for bare legs! As there was no provided dress code, I went with my black skinny jeans as they can easily pass for pants and blend in if everyone is in business wear ;) Carried my neverfull bag as I had to carry snacks and training material around.

Third Trimester Casual Weekend Maxi Skirt Outfits and Rebecca Minkoff Berry Stripe Mini MAC Bag

Here's what I wore on Saturday:
3rd trimester paisley print kimono maxi skirt acne pistol boots autumn outfit
Jacket: Just Jeans paisley print kimono jacket
NecklaceHouse of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey
Top: Jeanswest brown marle singlet
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
ShoesAcne pistol boots in "skin"

The weather really cooled off this weekend. Had planned to wear just this singlet and maybe a scarf, but it was so cold Saturday morning I needed a jacket and boots. Although I did end up going sock-less in the boots to be sure that my swollen feet would still be able to fit in them at the end of the day, haha! Had my hair cut on Saturday, had been needing to do so for a while but I'd just kept forgetting to make an appointment. Baby brain at its worst!

I've often thought about and tried to pair this kimono with maxi skirts and dresses before, but it just seemed like a little too much volume. I tried it on and really liked it this time around though. Maybe because the baby bump sticks out so much so it doesn't look like I'm drowning in fabric.

Last worn: paisley kimono, tank, black maxi skirt, Acne Pistol boots, Rebecca Minkoff stripe mini MAC.

Here's what I wore today:

Top: Topshop grey knitted scoop neck top
SkirtTarget black and white striped maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black
Bracelets: the usual
BagRebecca Minkoff coated canvas mini MAC in berry stripe

Was hoping to get a nice photo of my new haircut today but the wind had other plans in mind! At least in this shot my hair wasn't over my face ;) Not a drastic change anyway, just cutting a bit off the ends, a little more than usual as I'd left it so long between trims.

This outfit was good - kept me cosy and comfortable for running errands, going out for lunch, having family over, and working at Church Online. Wasn't brave enough to wear my usual weekend shoe choice of thongs (flip flops) as it was so cold, so I went with converse to keep my feet warm. I really liked converse with this skirt last time I wore it too. Now I'm wearing maxi skirts more I'm finding I can pair them with any types of shoes - not just sandals. They look great with flats, boots and converse!

That's one of the fun things about this pregnancy - I'm trying new things as I dress to accommodate the growing bump. Thank you for following and reading along, your support and suggestions and improvement ideas are so helpful. :)

We had a busy Saturday! After our Australia Day BBQ was a wash out last week, we moved it to Saturday instead. Spent the morning setting up and rushing out for last minute things, had a wonderful time at the BBQ, and then we went to the in-laws for a family feast for Chinese New Year. Lots of good company and good food, but I was exhausted and ready for bed by 9pm, haha!

Had a new red top in mind to change into for dinner, but after everyone left from the BBQ I didn't have a lot of time or energy to change, so I wore the same maxi dress I'd worn during the day. Certainly was comfortable for both occasions.

Had a much quieter Sunday! Just a nice casual jeans and a tank outfit. It actually ended up being a little warmer than I expected, starting to wonder if I should consider getting a pair of maternity shorts. I know if I do, the weather will just cool off again though ;)

Had Church Online in the evening as always, we've started a new series called '30 second theology' where we watch some ads and think about the messages behind them. It's really good, feel free to click by and check it out :)
