Saturday was the peak of our Queensland heatwave, and it was to get up to 41 degrees Celsius in Brisbane. Wore this light and breezy Zara tunic dress to keep cool, and to look a little dressed up for visiting family and attending a birthday dinner in the evening. We survived the day by staying in air conditioning as much as possible, haha!
Today was much cooler than yesterday thankfully. Lots of smoke haze from the Straddie bushfire though. Hope everyone is keeping safe.
Although this skirt has a little bit of volume on it's own, I've paired it with less fitted tops in the past and thought it looked okay, so I thought I would try it again today with the burgundy tee. What do you think?
Here's what I wore to go out to the Brisbane Comedy Festival and have dinner with DH on Saturday:
Earrings:Chanel vintage camellia dangling charm earrings Bracelets: the usual plus silver charm bracelet Dress: gifted 'That Famous Look' red peplum dress Shoes: New Look cream and brown wedges Bag: Chloe Paddington clutch in mastic
Taking full advantage of our sudden warm spell, I wore this dress out on Saturday night. Brought a jacket along but it never got cool enough to need it. I've worn the dress before with flats, out to dinner in Melbourne after Cecylia kindly gave it to me. Really wanted to dress it up with heels this time, but as we had to do a bit of walking last night, tiny strappy heels were out and I wore these comfortable wedges instead. Was nice to get a bit dressed up for the evening, and I was glad I picked the wedges at the end of the night! :)
Last worn: dress, shoes. This is the first time I've worn the clutch on the blog.

Here's what I wore to go out shopping with DH today:
Really warm today, it was nice! Thought about wearing a tee with this skirt, as I haven't tried that yet, but it was much too warm to consider it. A nice simple grey tank worked well to keep me cool instead.
Had to wear something sparkly for NYE! Decided to double up on the sparkle a little with the metallic lace skirt and glitter singlet. I think they looked okay together, not really possible to have too much glitter going on for a new year's eve outfit!
DH, Cooper and I had a quiet new years eve, relaxing and reflecting on 2013 and what's to come in 2014.
Blog wise, I've had this blog 2 years now! This year I will continue trying to wear more of my wardrobe, reducing what I already own and slowing down my purchasing.
It's been great getting suggestions and opinions from people who read along, thank you to everyone who leaves a comment or sends me an email. Your honest opinions and feedback are always welcome.
Thank you for following along, or just dropping by, and seeing what I've been wearing each day.
Casual outfit for a relaxing start to 2014! :) The top has beautiful beading detail on it so didn't think a necklace was necessary, just kept it simple. Probably wouldn't pair the skirt and top together again though, the top's lined which made it a little tricky to tuck in perfectly. Loved the colours together, but will try a different combination next time.
Funny smiles in the photos today courtesy of a very busy car park - as you can see there were people behind me so I was hurrying to take pictures and leave before they asked what we were doing!
I said yesterday I really wanted to wear my new skirt but thought I'd better wait for warmer weather. I decided to wear it today anyway and just layer to keep warm. It's such a pretty skirt! Love the metallic lace, really nice. Only had one very informal meeting today, so was a good day to wear the skirt. I thought the blazer would make it formal enough for the office. It generated a lot of comments today as it reflects the light - a really pretty piece, so happy with it for only $5!
The blazer was last worn here, shoes here and bag here. This is the first time I've worn the skirt as it is a new purchase, and the first time the grey tee has been on the blog although I've had it a while.
It was hot, 39 degrees today (102 Fahrenheit for the Americans). I wore the least I could while still being able to go to the office, hehe! Covered up with a cardi when the aircon got chilly.
I'm really enjoying casual December at work, as I had to do a bit of walking in the city today and this was a nice simple outfit for the heat. Went over to my parent's house for dinner in the evening.

I mentioned getting a hair cut in my last post. It seemed like a great idea at the time...but I'm struggling with how to style it when I have zero time with baby T. I'm also kinda missing my long hair...just now getting around to sharing the first outfits with my shorter hair. A casual daytime one and a slightly dressier evening one. I know my hair doesn't look great in either, but I'm still getting used to it...be kind ;)
Another play date for baby T! It's really fun now the babies are grown up and crawling around, there's a lot more 'playing' involved at our mummy meetups. Wore this casual outfit for a morning at an indoor playground with the ladies and babies from my mother's group. I haven't seen them in a while. It's gotten harder with even more people back at work and getting the days we have off to line up. I've started branching out a little too to join other groups, as now I know what my schedule is like for work I want to make sure that baby T has some activities planned for the days we have together.
Converse as you have to wear socks at the playground, and shorts again as they are really quite practical for playing on the ground with baby! I wore this tank because I've been looking at it hanging in my wardrobe for a while and felt it was due a final wear to decide if it stays or goes. I looked on the blog and I've actually worn it 7 times before which is more than I thought I had. One of the benefits of having a personal style blog, I can always search and see when I last wore something or how much something has been worn. I wasn't really loving it when I wore it, but I wasn't hating it either. It's just a nice top. Nothing special, but nothing I dislike. I am going to hold onto it a little longer and maybe try wearing it to work before I make a final decision if it stays or leaves my wardrobe.
This skirt has been worn 7 times too! I absolutely love this skirt. Of all of the $5 sale buys I have in my wardrobe, I think this one is the prettiest! I have about 8 pencil skirts to add to my wardrobe (that I had boxed away when the baby bump outgrew them) so I really need to make room for more skirts. I wore this so I could give it a final wear before I decide if I should keep it or remove it from my wardrobe. I was fairly certain I was going to get rid of it.
This skirt is a really beautiful piece so I was looking forward to wearing it one last time, and date night with DH was perfect. Baby T stayed at home with the babysitter and we went out for dinner and a show at QPAC. Although I did wonder at the last minute if I should take a jacket, it was so warm that evening I didn't need one. The cardi I grabbed as we rushed out the door just hung over my bag the whole time.
Usually if I am thinking of dressing up for a special occasion, I'd think of a dress rather than a skirt. It was really nice to wear this skirt though. Last time I wore it, it was hiding my little early second trimester baby bump! I know it's impractical at the moment due to the shorter length, and I won't have many chances to wear it while looking after baby...but I really do love it. If I saw it in store today I'd buy it, so it is staying in my wardrobe. Even if I don't know the next time I'll wear it and I really should let it go, it's just too pretty! It's a keeper.
Today's photos were unknowingly taken next to a wasp's nest. As soon as we found out, we ran! haha! Had a really nice day with my mum, sister and friend shopping, and then in the evening we went for dinner with the family. Busy day so late blog post, but a really good day too.

Had a nice relaxing start to the year at my in-laws house with a BBQ and some games. I wanted to wear this skirt and also wanted to carry my Balenciaga clutch, so I tried a mix of gold and silver with this outfit. I'm not sure it really worked, wouldn't pair this skirt and clutch together again. Was pleased with the photo location though - wearing a blossom tee under beautiful purple blossoms!

And here's what I wore to spend some time on the beach with DH today:
So pleased that today had the perfect beach weather after our plans were rained out last week. We headed down to the gold coast to relax and soak up some sun. Although we got stuck in traffic on the way there, the perfect beach weather more than made up for it. Took this photo on our way back to the car so please excuse the wet beach hair! Wore my Zara tunic dress over my bikini to cover up and keep my shoulders hidden from the sun.
