Simple outfit for Wednesday as I had a lot of running around to do at work. This tee is another one of the things mum picked up for me on our shopping trip the other weekend. I love my grey tees! :) Added a bit of colour with my orange Balenciaga bag. It's been getting a bit ignored lately, I've been using smaller bags more often.

Last worn: tartan check pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Balenciaga rouille work bag. First time I've worn the tee as it's a recent gift.

Here's what I wore to work today:
French Connection blue paisley print dress asos grey neon boucle blazer

Bag: Marco Tagliaferri first generation Birk bag in navy

Wanted to wear blue today, so picked out this dress and bag. Added the blazer as it was a little chilly this morning. I'm glad I own a few dresses and tops that have a bit of wiggle room to accommodate the growing bump! :)

Excited to share that I was featured as February's Southern Hemisphere Style Blogger over at Tara Honeybird! Go check out my interview here.

Dug this top out from the back of my wardrobe, it's the first wearing of it on the blog. Be prepared to see a few more "new" items rescued from my wardrobe coming out now, have been spending a fair bit of time trying to clean my wardrobe and found lots of forgotten things tucked in a corner! I wonder just how much is still hiding in there....

I used to wear this top a lot to uni and to work when I worked in a non-public facing office role and wore jeans every day. Over 5 years ago! It's obvious now why it got less wear when I changed jobs and was no longer able to wear denim every day, not a flattering silhouette.

It prompted one lady in the office to come over and ask me if I was pregnant, so not the best outfit to wear when I'm disguising the baby bump at work. Quite comfortable though, and will see me through the next few months easily! :)

Last worn: Ray Ban, tartan pencil skirt, black flats, Balenciaga sapphire city bag. First time I've worn the top on the blog.

I thought that the sequin embellishments on this top were a nice pairing with the graphic print on the pencil skirt, and really liked the combination. Funny how much smaller the bump looks today because of the different clothes too! :)

Maternity Tanks, Prints and Pencil Skirts: Third Trimester Office Wear with Balenciaga Magenta Day Bag

My January purchases and some third trimester office wear. Although I'm trying not to dress too casually for work, my maternity tanks are so comfortable I'm looking for ways to make them work in the office. Adding a blazer on top is a great way to do that!

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Third Trimester Print Mixing Paisley Scarf Tartan Plaid Pencil Skirt

AwayFromTheBlue | Zara Black Jersey Blazer Balenciaga 2005 magenta day hobo bag RH
ScarfJeanswest Lux paisley print scarf (C/O)
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace
TankJeanswest maternity tank in white
SkirtAsos maternity panelled pencil skirt in tartan check (non-maternity version here)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta (new purchase)

Why I wore it:

It was quite cold and rainy - but welcome as it broke the heatwave we'd been having. I did consider wearing pants in the morning and wished I had during the day. I liked the print mixing with the scarf and tartan pencil skirt together. This is my favourite blazer and although I can't button it over the baby bump it works well unbuttoned. Just as perfect for the office as it is with jeans.

Last worn: Zara blazer, printed scarf, white maternity tank, tartan pencil skirt, silver tuxedo flats, Balenciaga magenta day bag.

Other ways to wearjersey blazer and a printed dress, printed scarf and chambray, maternity tank and a maxi skirt, tartan pencil skirt with brown and orange, silver tuxedo flats and a maxi dress, Balenciaga magenta day bag and a graphic tee.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Third Trimester Office Wear Pencil skirt printed maternity tank

AwayFromTheBlue | Balenciaga 05 magenta purple day bag silver turquoise bracelet stack
Jacket: no label white drape jacket
NecklaceTiffany diamonds by the yard necklace layered with custom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
Tank: Jeanswest Sol maternity jacquard tank (new purchase)
SkirtAtmos&Here grey marle jersey pencil skirt (also available in black or stripes)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus turquoise and silver beaded bracelet set
Bag: Balenciaga Day bag in 2005 magenta

Why I wore it:

This tank is another of my post-Christmas sale purchases. You can tell I had some Jeanswest gift vouchers to spend! I wouldn't normally be able to wear this skirt in the third trimester, but as the maternity tank is so long I was able to wear the elastic waist of the skirt under the bump and have the tank cover up all of the baby belly and then some. I was actually able to tuck the tank into the skirt. Benefits of being petite, maternity tanks are quite long.

In contrast to the previous outfit above, this was such a hot day. I took the blazer off after these pictures and just wore it around the office to keep my shoulders covered. It was much too hot and humid to wear it long on the commute.

Last worn: waterfall drape jacket, grey marle pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Balenciaga Magenta Day bag (above). First time I've worn the tank as it's a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearwaterfall drape jacket and printed shorts, grey pencil skirt layered for winter, studded mouse flats and a printed dress, Balenciaga Magenta Day bag and a maxi skirt.

January Purchases

Continuing on with recording what I buy each month and keeping a track of how many times I wear things, here's what I bought in January and at the end of December in the post-Christmas sales.

That's a lot! I had some gift cards to spend and there were so many good sales on....so far the most worn items have been the maternity bras. I don't usually talk underwear on the blog but a good maternity bra is a pregnancy and breastfeeding essential and these two are just so perfect!

I don't anticipate buying any more clothing until after baby arrives, so there are likely to be few monthly haul videos for a while. I'm not entirely ruling out getting some accessories though.... ;)

Balenciaga Sapphire Purple City, Maternity Pencil Skirts, Marc By Marc Jacobs Mouse Flats

Here's what I wore to work on Monday:

This top is another one of the new things I purchased in the Jeanswest 40% off sale the other week. They had just released a nursing range and then had 40% off everything...I was powerless to resist! When the parcel arrived on Friday, I loved this top right away. It looked great with the skinny jeans I was wearing when I tried it on.

It doesn't really work with the pencil skirt though, does it? Much too long. I have that problem with a few of my maternity tops, I am petite so the extra length they add to the maternity clothes to accommodate a growing bump can swamp me a little. And I don't want to run round belting everything. Might need to pair this top with pants next time, as it's really comfortable and colourful so I want to keep it.

Last worn: Asos tartan pencil skirtmetallic gold mouse flats, Balenciaga sapphire city bag.

Here's what I wore to work today:

BagBalenciaga purple RH city in 2008 sapphire

Very similar outfit to yesterday's - feeling uninspired! It was pouring rain this morning during the 5 minutes I have for photos, so indoor photos again. It cleared up and got much warmer almost right away.

Not sure how long I've had this top for exactly, but I probably bought it around the same time I got my other Cotton On top. So pleased that my clothes hoarding means I've kept a lot of my clothes from my flowy top phase a few years ago, they are just the thing for the growing baby bump!

Although this top I maybe can't wear again during the pregnancy. It is just a normal top and I don't quite think it can handle the third trimester bump, it felt a little short today as the bump made it ride up. Monday's top was too long, today's too short....still learning how best to dress baby and I! Feel free to leave me tips and tricks if you've been through this, your advice and comments are always appreciated :)

Wednesday was a long day, so wore this dress again to be comfortable. After work, DH and I had our first antenatal class at the hospital. It was really good, answered a lot of questions for us and we got a bit of a tour. So exciting how close we are getting to baby's arrival! I thought about getting changed for the class, but figured the dress would be fine. There were a few people who had come directly from work like ourselves too. I've never been around so many pregnant ladies in one place before, was interesting seeing how everyone dressed for their bumps.

Pink Balenciaga city bag again today! Although it's not Friday, this post will be live on my blog on Friday, so had to have a little bit of pink in support of Renae :) Pink accessories seemed like a good choice, and it means I didn't have to change my bag.

Just a simple pencil skirt and tee outfit again. I really wish I'd bought more colours or even a backup of this tee when it was still made - it really is the perfect tee! It's even able to handle the second trimester and third trimester baby bumps and still look good!

Don't forget I'm selling some items on ebay as part of my wardrobe clear out. A mix of clothes (regular and maternity), accessories and even handbags too. Everything ships internationally :)

Here's what I wore on Wednesday:

Simple black and white outfit for Wednesday. Really starting to struggle with finding nice things to wear to work now in the final few weeks of pregnancy. I'm quite looking forward to finishing up soon, and being a lot more casual with what I wear. Based on some previous pregnancies in the office, I know the levels of dress code I can drop to, but I want to try and look as professional as possible despite my limited choices. This was comfortable all day though, and was good to wear to our parenting class after work as well.

Thought that the little bit of print mixing with the leopard scarf and tartan skirt worked well due to the similar colours - what do you think?

Here's what I wore to work and out for dinner today:
Jeanswest Mixed Print Paisley Dress Asos Aggie Ankle Boots MbMJ Fran Third Trimester workwear

ShoesAsos Aggie leather western ankle boots in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes pink clic clac and purple Salvatore Ferragamo 'Vara' leather bow bracelet
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

More print mixing, and I got to wear my maternity tights! I purchased these tights a couple of months ago when we had a little bit of a cold snap, figuring they would be essentials for the pregnancy. Just wearing them now at 36 weeks, so not as essential as I thought! They were only $8 from Target so I'm not feeling too bad about the purchase.

Picked a pretty dress to wear to work and after today, as we had a birthday dinner for my sister in the evening. The tights kept me warm and the dress was suitable for work and dinner, which saved me trying to find a second outfit to wear for the evening, hehe! I bought this dress in the Jeanswest sale as I loved the paisley print and the subtle print mixing, and guessed it would have no problems accommodating the third trimester baby bump despite being non-maternity.

I've been wearing my Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag a bit this week, but that will change now I have a new handbag purchase! Short reveal video of my latest splurge:
Yep, another Marc by Marc Jacobs bag!

Corporate Style: Printed Shirts and Pencil Skirts. Balenciaga Day Bag

Sharing two more of my recent office outfits, going with a simple 'formula' of a printed shirt and a pencil skirt. I'm still wearing my trench coats as although it's Spring in Brisbane it can still be a bit chilly in the morning, especially if you have to go bare-legged.

What I wore:

Away From Blue Blog | Choies Strawberry Print Shirt Black Trench Pencil Skirt Office Wear

Away From Blue Blog | Balenciaga truffle brown RH classic day bag
Jacket: Temt black trench coat
Necklace: Tai gold alphabet necklace
ShirtChoies pink chiffon shirt with strawberry print (C/O Choies)
SkirtAsos black tailored tab front pencil skirt
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs metallic mouse flats
BagBalenciaga truffle brown RH classic day bag

Why I wore it:

Adding a bit of colour to an otherwise overly black outfit with my strawberry print shirt. While the other shirt I ordered from Choies tore on the first wear, I'm pleased to see this one is still going strong.

Last worn: black trench coat, strawberry print shirt, black pencil skirt, metallic mouse flats, Balenciaga day bag.

Other ways to weartrench and a printed dress, printed short and denim shorts, black pencil skirt and purple cardi, gold mouse flats and skinny jeans, Balenciaga day bag and a shift dress.

More printed shirts for the office under $60:

What I wore:

Scarf: red tartan scarf
Necklace: custom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
ShirtJeanswest 'Ruby' mixed print shirt
Skirt: Jeanswest black ponte pencil skirt
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
BagBalenciaga truffle brown RH classic day bag

Why I wore it:

Wanted to add some more colour to this outfit, so after trying on a few different scarves before running out the door, I settled on this brightly coloured tartan scarf. I really liked the print mixing, even thought the shirt has print mixing inbuilt already too. Ended up keeping the scarf on in the office as I liked the look so much.

Last worn: camel trench, tartan scarf, mixed print shirt, black pencil skirt, ballet flats, Balenciaga day bag (above).

Last year, my church did a series called Struggles. I really enjoyed it. This past weekend I decided to participate in the #strugglesFast with some others. It was no computers, no smartphone and no TV. While I was allowed to use a computer for work purposes, I only used it to work at my usual Sunday evening Church Online events. I failed the fast 3 times: when I had to google the address of the emergency vets on my phone (Cooper had a minor injury but our usual vet was closed), when I turned on the computer to go to church online and my email opened up and I couldn't resist scanning through a few subject lines, and when a friend at Church Online gave me a website to checkout in response to my question, and I went and opened it without thinking. I closed it as soon as I realised, but it still counts as a fail.

What I learnt from the #strugglesFast:

  • For someone as addicted to the internet (especially instagram) as I am, I expected it to be a lot more difficult to stick to the fast, but I'm quite pleased with how I did.
  • I'm also rather amazed by just how often I'd still go to check my phone before I remembered I was on the tech fast. I ended up leaving it on a table, but the reflex was still there to grab it now and then.
  • I did find it a little frustrating not being able to just look things up online - I'd planned to cook a recipe for toddler T that I'd not printed out yet, but couldn't. I used a cookbook and made something different instead, luckily it was still a hit with him.
  • For all my fear of missing out, I caught up with everything I missed over the weekend within an hour on Monday morning - there really wasn't anything important!

If you ever think about taking a break from social media/the internet/technology for the weekend, I'd encourage you to give it a go. It's not as difficult as you might first think.

Mulberry Foggy Grey Alexa Bag. Oversize Tee, Asos Tartan Pencil Skirt. Casual Friday Maternity Tank, Skinny Jeans

Here's what I wore to work on Thursday:

This oversized tee is the other one from my order last week. So pleased with how comfy these tees are, and how well they fit the bump. Don't even care that it makes it the third version of this top that I own, as they are all different colours. ;)
I felt great all day in this outfit. Lucky to work in an office where I can pair tees and pencil skirts and still meet the dress codes. Added a bit of colour with my Mulberry Alexa bag to avoid wearing too much black.

Last worn: Ray-ban WayfarersAsos tartan maternity skirt, patent mouse flats, Mulberry Alexa bag. First time I've worn the tee as it's a recent purchase.

A few degrees cooler today so I brought out my maternity jeans again for casual Friday. :) Picked up this Asos top a while ago for a bargain in one of their sales. The only downside is that, like most maternity tops, it's a bit long on my short frame. I've only worn it once before, in my little pregnancy announcement video, when I could tuck it into the maxi skirt. Although it was really cheap, I should probably try to get more than one wear out of it, so decided to wear it again today. I find that there are some maternity tops I can only really wear with skinny jeans, as they are too long with skirts and I'm past the stage where I can comfortably tuck things in that the waist, haha. It's why I'm trying to wear my normal tops as much as possible.

If you haven't already seen, the Rebecca Minkoff Friends and Family sale is on now! 25% off everything, including sale items, with code 'RMFAM'.
If we didn't have more baby things to buy, I'd definitely be picking up something in the sale! There are so many cute bags :)

After wearing a lot of black, white and grey, I felt like some colour so I paired this cosy knit with the tartan pencil skirt and a bright bag. I really liked this bag with blue last time I wore it, so wanted to try it again.

This is quite a thick jumper so I don't wear it often, but I adore the colour every time I do. Almost a year since I last wore it, wow! Should make more of an effort to wear it over the upcoming cooler months.

Emotional day today! My last day at work for a while, I have now officially commenced my maternity leave. Just had to wear the ninja baby tee as I knew everyone would get a giggle out of it. There was a morning tea in baby's honour and I got so many lovely gifts from my colleagues. It's sad to be leaving a large project right in the middle of everything, but I'm really looking forward to getting to spend time at home with baby. The last few days at work have been really tough and it will be good to have some rest before the due date.

With the cooler weather we've been having lately, just had to share that Jeanswest have an extra 30% off sale items - including some winter knits! Ends Sunday night.

Corporate Style: Marc By Marc Jacobs Lil Ukita Bag

Consistently, the Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita bag is one of the most clicked items on my blog. Probably because the rock lobster colour is awesome and it brightens up a neutral outfit really well. It's the perfect size for taking to work too.

What I wore:

Away from Blue | Second trimester black maternity jeans in office bright stripe tank

AwayFromTheBlue | Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster
Necklace: thrifted pearl and heart charm long necklace
TankJeanswest 'Hannah' print tank in paradise pink multi
JeansJeanswest maternity skinny jeans in black
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs black leather Swarovski beaded wrap bracelet and JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Why I wore it:

As it was a slightly cooler day, I figured I'd get some wear out of my maternity jeans and wear them to the office again like I did with my last pregnancy. I did want to wear a button up shirt to look a little more professional, but couldn't find one that actually buttoned over the baby bump, ha! it was too hot to consider a blazer too, so I just wore the bright tank by itself.

I'm surprised I haven't worn this tank and bag together before, the colours go really well together.

Last worn: striped tank, Jeanswest maternity skinny jeans, Walnut Melbourne ballet flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Lil Ukita.

Other ways to wearstriped tank and a maxi skirt, maternity skinny jeans post-baby, ballet flats and a pencil skirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs Lil Ukita and a striped dress.

What I wore:

AwayFromBlue | Colourful Accessories with a neutral outfit grey tee black pencil skirt

AwayFromTheBlue | Marc by Marc Jacobs Rock Lobster Lil Ukita Bag Hermes Twilly as bracelet
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in grey marl
SkirtAsos maternity panelled pencil skirt in tartan check (non-maternity version here)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes twilly worn as a bracelet (Confettis D'ex-Libris from 2009)
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Why I wore it:

Fully embracing the casual side of business casual with a grey tee and a pencil skirt for another day in the office. I'm lucky that my workplace has such a relaxed dress code and I can get away with wearing tees in the middle of the week.

After my Melbourne trip and drooling over some scarves and twillies in Hermes, I decided to get my twilly out again. I really can't pull off the neck scarf look without looking like a flight attendant, but I like wearing it around my wrist. I've done so before, but silk is not the most practical fabric to wear around a toddler so it hasn't been worn much recently. Need to make more of an effort to wear it. It was a nice way to have some colour in my outfit even when I wasn't wearing the bright Ukita bag.

Last worn: grey tee, tartan pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag (above).

Other ways to weargrey tee and a colourblock maxi skirt, tartan pencil skirt with brown and orange in third trimester, studded mouse flats and a printed dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in winter.
