Back to the usual what I've been wearing. It was actually a little exciting to open up the big bag of maternity clothes I'd set aside post-baby, and rediscover pieces I'd loved in my last pregnancy. I was extremely happy to see these Asos maternity pencil skirts again, they were real workhorses before.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Second trimester workwear Asos maternity pencil skirt ruffle cami

AwayFromBlue | Balenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH
Scarf: Louis Vuitton "comete" bandeau scarf
Necklace: Lovisa silver love knitted heart pendant necklace
CamiJeanswest 'Maria' cami in cream
SkirtAsos maternity panelled pencil skirt in tartan check (non-maternity version here)
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats
Bracelets: the usual plus House of Harlow Aztec bangles in fuschia pink and silver, white and silver, Hermes pink clic clac
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Just like last time I wore this scarf as a headband to the office, I got a bunch of compliments, which is always nice! I had a scan to check baby's progress in the early morning, and then it was Melbourne cup day so we had a bunch of events in the afternoon in the office. As I had just recently finished up the Frocktober fundraising challenge, I didn't really want to wear my usual dress option for Melbourne cup.

I figured the ruffles on this cami made it a little more dressy than a standard pencil skirt outfit, and the scarf in my hair was a nod to the headpieces worn to our themed event that afternoon.

Last worn: Louis Vuitton bandeau, ruffle cami, tartan pencil skirt, black ballet flats, Balenciaga part time bag.

Other ways to wearLouis Vuitton bandeau as a belt with a LBDruffle cami and a maix skirt, tartan pencil skirt in the third trimester, black ballet flats and skinny jeans, Balenciaga part time bag and a striped dress.

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

Back when I was still hiding the baby bump on the blog and in the office, I'd gone through my wardrobe pulling out a few possible outfit ideas. This pretty teal top was one of them, so it had been hanging at the front of the wardrobe waiting for me to wear it. I didn't get around to wearing it before starting Frocktober, so it had been sitting there unworn.

Was wondering what to wear with this pencil skirt when I saw this top and figured I'd better wear it again before the spring weather heats up too much. It was a slightly cooler day when I wore this so it worked out perfectly. I wasn't too happy with the length of this top worn like this - I usually always partially tuck it in - but I liked the combination of the teal with the black and white.

Last worn: teal henley, Asos graphic pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Balenciaga part time bag (above).

Other ways to wearteal henley and a maxi skirtgraphic pencil skirt and burgundy tee, studded mouse flats and jeans, Balenciaga part time and skinny jeans.

Pregnancy Office Wear: Asos Maternity Pencil Skirts, Tees, Balenciaga Rouille Work Bag

Here's what I wore to work on Wednesday:

Had a meeting with my manager today but still kept my outfit simple and comfortable - tee and pencil skirt! I wanted to recreate this entire outfit again, but decided I could make it look just a little different if I swapped out the tee ;) With the size of my wardrobe I certainly wasn't spoiled for choices for another top to wear, haha!

Last worn: brown tee, Asos tartan pencil skirt, Novo flats, Balenciaga rouille work.

Here's what I wore to work today:

Another pencil skirt and tee combo! Loved it pre-pregnancy, love it still during pregnancy. I'm lucky to have a very relaxed business casual workplace so I can wear tees to the office Monday to Thursday. That's made maternity dressing a lot easier. I think if I had to wear business professional every day I would have had to invest in some key maternity pieces like suits and work pants, which would have been trickier to find.
I thought the embroidered detail on this top worked well with the print on the skirt, but it doesn't show up well in photos. Did forget how badly this shirt wrinkles with the bump though, felt a bit sloppy by the end of the day!

ASOS Maternity Pencil Skirts, Grey Rebecca Minkoff MAM Bag. Third Trimester Corporate Style

With my maternity leave approaching, I wanted to give my ASOS maternity pencil skirts one last wear in the office. They've lasted me well, through two pregnancies. The black and white prints gave me more chance to play along with the #SNScolour challenge on Instagram too.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Jeanswest green maternity tee asos graphic print pencil skirt 3rd trimester office outfit

AwayFromTheBlue | metallic grey accessories Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini MAM bag
NecklaceJeanswest Taki necklace (C/O)
TeeJeanswest Sonny maternity tee in lagoon marle (C/O)
SkirtAsos maternity graphic print pencil skirt (non-maternity version here)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga classic double tour bracelet in pearly grey
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was metallics. While I have a metallic tee, I certainly can't fit it in the third trimester! I decided to use accessories for this, with the silver necklace, Balenciaga wrap bracelet and studded mouse flats.

I had a quite day in the office without a lot of meetings so a simple tee and pencil skirt outfit was perfect.

Last worn: green maternity tee, graphic print maternity pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag.

Other ways to weargreen maternity tee and skinny jeans, graphic print pencil skirt and grey tee, studded mouse flats and a printed wrap dress, Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag and a red leopard print dress.

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs two tone flats in blush and black
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was white, so it seemed obvious to wear my white maternity tank. I did worry it would be a little too casual for the office, so added the blazer over the top. I'm looking forward to wearing this blazer more when the autumn weather finally hits Brisbane and it cools down a little! It's great to have a cover-up in the office air-conditioning though. The blazer is a spring item from 2014 I picked up in the Jeanswest outlet last year but it's the perfect pastel pink to be classed as 'Rose Quartz', one of the colours of the year everyone is raving about.

I felt the statement necklace was a nice touch with this outfit - added some colour and sparkle so it didn't look too dull. This ended up being one of my favourite pregnancy office outfits, so a nice way to say farewell to this skirt.

Last worn: pink boyfriend blazer, white maternity tank, Asos tartan pencil skirt, two tone flats, Rebecca Minkoff MAM (above).

Corporate Style: Maternity Pencil Skirts and Grey Tees in Summer, Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB Bag

I will always love a grey tee! Even after my wardrobe detox session and finding out that grey wasn't the best colour for me, I still wear it and still have a bunch of grey tees in my wardrobe. They are just so easy to wear. And thankfully, my very relaxed 'business casual' office dress code makes a tee and a pencil skirt an easy outfit for a day without a lot of face-to-face meetings.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Second Trimester Office Wear Grey tee Asos maternity pencil skirt

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff MAM Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet rubis
Necklace: Diva red stone necklace
TeeAtmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
SkirtAsos maternity graphic print pencil skirt (non-maternity version here)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

This was the first outfit for the Fox in Flats style challenge, the theme was 'stripes' so I thought the graphic stripe print on this pencil skirt worked well, especially when worn with my favourite grey tee.

I added the red necklace for a bit of colour with the otherwise fairly monochrome outfit - and also as that was one of the tips the stylist gave me. If I insisted on keeping my grey tees (I did keep most of them...) then I should try to wear colourful accessories with them.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, grey tee, graphic print pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB.

Other ways to weargrey tee for casual Friday, graphic print pencil skirt and a black tank, studded mouse flats and denim shorts, casual SAHM outfits with Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB.

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs two tone flats in blush and black
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes twilly Kelly en Calèche tied as bracelet
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

Again, going with the easy option of a grey tee and a printed pencil skirt. The style challenge for the day was 'new do' and as I'd got my hair cut the day before I just fell back on this simple outfit as the summer heat usually gets me feeling pretty uninspired and looking for easy options. That's why the DAREcember style challenge is so great, at a time I want to do nothing other than sit in the pool in a bikini, I'm encouraged to explore my wardrobe, try different things and have some fun with my clothes. I've shared more before about why I love instagram style challenges.

I just wouldn't go do anything as permanent as actually get a new haircut for a challenge next time, I regretted the cut pretty quickly! Thankfully I still have some unshared pics with my longer hair as I figure out how to style the new length.

Last worn: grey tee, tartan pencil skirt, Hermes twilly, cap toe flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB (above).

Other ways to wear: grey tee layered up for winter, tartan pencil skirt and a ruffled cami, two tone flats and tights, Hermes twilly bow on a bagRebecca Minkoff MAM and a printed dress.

Asos is a great place to pick up some bargain pencil skirts that really last - I have skirts over 5 years old that are still going strong, and this is the second pregnancy for these maternity skirts! Plus you can get up to 70% off in their outlet.

Professional Second Trimester Office Wear: Marc By Marc Jacobs Fran Bag, Pencil Skirts from Soon Maternity and Asos

Here's what I wore to work on Wednesday:

Wednesday was a big day at work! I tried on a few outfit ideas to look as professional as possible. It was the kind of day where if I'd had a suit, I'd have worn it. Ended up settling on a top and pencil skirt combination, I think it looked okay? Much too warm for a blazer, although it was a consideration for a while.

A few weeks back I had a massive "I have nothing to wear to dress the bump" freak out, and had the urge to go shopping. Knowing that most of what I would buy would be temporary, I hunted on ebay and put in some low bids. This pencil skirt is one of the items I won.
I've heard good things about Soon Maternity, and at $75 new, I got it for a complete bargain second hand. However, it's the wrong size and pretty worn, nothing like the description. I figure for the next couple of months I can put up with it, as it was the only cheap plain black maternity pencil skirt I could find. The seller massively overcharged on postage, so it wouldn't be worth my while returning it. At the very least, it's a good reminder to myself to not get carried away with pregnancy hormones, and be careful what I buy online!

Last worn: French connection print top, Marc by Marc Jacobs camel flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag. First time I've worn the pencil skirt.

Here's what I wore to work today:

BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown (20% off at shopbop with code 'BIGEVENT14')

Today's outfit was one of my Wednesday rejects! Thought that a plain pencil skirt would have been perceived to be more professional than a printed one. This was absolutely perfect for a normal day in the office. Really liked this outfit, even better than yesterday's. More cheerful with the colour I think.

Might not wear this top again in my pregnancy though, I felt like it was bursting at the seams a little over the baby bump. I even got a "wow you look massive!" comment, which just made me giggle to be honest. I'm aware my belly is huge and I'm pleased baby is growing well. People can say what they like, as long as my OBGYN is happy and baby is growing normally, I'll keep expanding! Especially when I keep craving chocolate ;)

Second Trimester Pregnancy Outfit Inspiration: 38 Outfit Ideas

I've been blogging for over 4 years and through two pregnancies, so I thought a wrap up of my favourite maternity outfits would be a great resource for anyone looking for pregnancy outfit inspiration!

As well as sharing my second trimester travel essentials I previously did a series about my wardrobe changes in each trimester you might find helpful too. I spoke about what worked and what didn't in my second trimester.

This will be a very photo-heavy post as I share a few of my favourite second trimester outfits. 38 different pregnancy outfit ideas! There are links below all the photos if you want more details.

Office Wear:

I bought two ASOS maternity pencil skirts and they got a lot of wear in the office.

My single maternity wrap dress was a real wardrobe workhorse, being worn almost weekly, although I continued to wear my regular non-maternity dresses in the second trimester as well. Fit and flare or empire waist dresses were perfect for this.

Maxi Dresses:

I only needed one maternity maxi dress for both pregnancies, the majority of my existing maxi dresses were stretchy enough to work through all three trimesters. There were a few I outgrew in the second trimester though.

AwayFromTheBlue | Maxi Dresses in the Second Trimester Outfit Inspiration

Maternity Denim - Jeans and Shorts:

I added a second pair of maternity denim shorts to my wardrobe for my most recent pregnancy as I was heavily pregnant over summer and it was too hot for jeans. Previously I was doing a full work week and with the cooler temperatures and dressing for casual Friday, my maternity jeans were worn a lot more.

Third Trimester Pregnancy Outfit Inspiration: 55 Outfit Ideas

Third trimester pregnancy dressing comes with it's own set of challenges! A lot of the regular wardrobe options that could be worn in the second trimester are outgrown in the third trimester, reducing the outfit possibilities and making getting dress rather uninspiring.

For my recent pregnancy, I implemented a third trimester pregnancy capsule wardrobe to try make it a little more fun.

The third trimester is definitely the time to repeat outfits that make you look and feel good, and to do so unashamedly! Find things that work for you and wear them as many times as you like. I've included 55 outfit ideas for the third trimester below, from both of my pregnancies. You can click on the links under the images to view more info about them.

Office Outfits:

In the third trimester, I still wore my ASOS maternity pencil skirts often, but the standout pieces were my wrap dresses. They were such an easy outfit that always fit the growing bump and never failed to look good. I wore wrap dresses a lot! I was able to find some regular non-maternity dresses in my wardrobe that still accommodated the baby bump too.

Back In the Office: Striped Shirt and Pencil Skirt | Asos Pink Singlet and Tartan Checks, Sarah Conners Bag

Here's what I wore for my first day back at work after my break:
Away From Blue rolled sleeve shirt over pencil skirt untucked office wear

Sunglasses: gifted Rayban new Wayfarers
Necklacecustom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
Shirt: gifted Target mint stripe shirt
SkirtAsos tailored tab front pencil skirt in grey
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey
Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga classic double tour bracelet in pearly grey
Bag: gifted Corelli metallic and white handbag

Sadly, it was time for me to go back to work on Wednesday. Dressed a little lazily by just wearing a shirt over a pencil skirt, and tied my hair back in a messy bun. This shirt is a Christmas gift from my parents, and it's so soft and comfortable! I'm not normally a shirt person as I hate ironing, but I am more than happy to make an exception for this one :) Will be good for casual weekend wear as well as office wear.

The bag is a recent gift too, one of my friends gave it to me for my birthday.

Despite trying to reduce my wardrobe this year, I was swayed by the latest Asos sale. 70% off, and an extra 10% off sale with code 'AUJAN10'. Difficult to resist! I bought a top and 2 pencil skirts for work, all practical purchases I easily justified, haha. This pencil skirt is super comfortable, and it got a lot of compliments today. I'm just trying to distract myself from the fact that I just increased the number of skirts I own by another 2 pieces, as I have no intentions of getting rid of any skirts at the moment!

Last worn: pink singlet, patent mouse flats, Sarah Conners python bag. First time I've worn the skirt as it's a recent purchase.

Plain Maternity Tanks, Printed Pencil Skirts, Louis Vuitton Speedy Bandouliere: Third Trimester Office Wear

I'd fallen into a rut of wearing wrap dresses to the office, so tried to make a little bit of effort and wear my maternity pencil skirts for a change. I do love these skirts, and wore them a lot in my last pregnancy, but this time around I've been so uninspired with facing the summer heat in the third trimester that dresses have just seemed easier!

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Third Trimester Office wear maternity tank printed pencil skirt blazer

AwayFromTheBlue | Baby Bump Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere
NecklaceHouse of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey (on sale here!)
SingletJeanswest maternity tank in white
SkirtAsos maternity graphic print pencil skirt (non-maternity version here)
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

It was a slightly cooler morning so I got excited and wore a jacket. While I liked the extra print mixing it brought to my outfit, I quickly realised that it was still much too hot for wearing layers, and regretted my decision a little.

By the time I went to my OB's appointment in the afternoon, I'd had my jacket off for a while!

Last wornjacquard blazer, white maternity tank, graphic print pencil skirt, Walnut Melbourne ballet flats, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere.

Other ways to wear: jacquard blazer and a little black dresswhite maternity tank and denim shorts, graphic print pencil skirt and a grey tee, black ballet flats and skinny jeans, Louis Vuitton speedy bandouliere and winter layers.

Shoes:  Marc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

Kept things much simpler with this outfit - no extra layer, I added a statement necklace for a bit of interest instead. I've worn this necklace and tank together before - I love the way the colours look against the black.

I felt really happy and confident in this outfit all day - even though it's just a simple maternity tank and pencil skirt outfit. An outfit doesn't have to be overly fancy or complex to make you feel good :)
