Graphic Tees, Denim Jackets, Maxi Skirts and Converse with Chloe Paraty | Weekday Wear Link Up

Winterising my maxi skirts with some denim jackets, with mixed results after Brisbane had a much colder than usual start to winter in the early days of June!

What I wore:

denim jacket, graphic tee, red printed maxi skirt, blue converse, small paraty bag | away from blue

red printed maxi skirt with Chloe periwinkle small Paraty | awayfromblue

Jacket: Jeanswest Kitty denim biker jacket
NecklaceHouse of Harlow Dynamic necklace in gold
Tee: Primark Edinburgh white graphic tee
Skirtthrifted Billabong 'Don't Think Of It' bikini red printed maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

This red Billabong maxi skirt has been a staple since I thrifted it nearly 4 years ago. I'm always surprised when I look in my blog archives and see it hasn't hit 30 wears yet, I wear it a lot! When I was looking through the archives to get the latest count on number of wears for this skirt I realised I hadn't worn it with this graphic tee! I've worn it with other white tees in the past and really liked the combination, so this was an obvious choice.

I picked up this tee from Primark in Edinburgh on our Europe trip in 2019, a great souvenir from our trip. With the blue graphic print on the tee, the blue denim jacket, periwinkle blue Chloe Paraty bag and blue Converse were the obvious matchy-matchy options. Even though the blue shades don't match exactly they do compliment well! The only thing I didn't like about this outfit was the necklace kept slipping down under my tee - a different necklace would have been better.

I really liked the blue and red of this - the skirt always makes me happy when I wear it and I needed something comfortable and colourful to try cheer me up for another dentist appointment.

Last worn: moto denim jacket, gold necklace, Edinburgh graphic tee, red printed maxi skirt, blue Converse All Star, Chloe periwinkle small Paraty bag.

Unboxing My Chloe Paraty:

Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagChloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

This outfit was not such a good idea. The same formula as the one above, with a graphic band tee instead of just a regular graphic tee, another printed maxi skirt, denim jacket, Converse and the same Chloe small Paraty bag. I've even worn the tee and skirt together before too. It was a comfortable outfit for working from home, but this skirt has a slit on the side. As usually happens around this time each year, I've tried to wear it on a day that was just a little too cold for it!

I was nice and comfortable and warm while working from home but when hubby and I went out to an appointment in the evening I was regretting the skirt - it really is a warm weather option and it got so cold that night! Thankfully it was a short appointment and we could quickly go back home so I could change into something warmer. Made realise it's time to start thinking about swapping my denim jackets for leather jackets too!

Last worn: blue denim jacket, Kisschasy band tee, navy striped maxi skirt, white Converse Chucks, Chloe small Paraty bag (above).

How You Can Wear It:

Graphic tees and denim jackets are failsafe combination! You can use a printed maxi skirt to add more colour and interest to an outfit. In the first outfit the red skirt works as a contrasting colour, in the second outfit the maxi skirt ties in with the blue and white colour scheme of the rest of the outfit for a more monochromatic result.

Monochromatic Blue Outfits With Printed Maxi Skirts and Purple Balenciaga Work Bag

Adding a little extra colour to monochromatic blue maxi skirt and tee outfits with my big purple Balenciaga work bag. Not doing anything different from usual or carrying anything more than usual that requires such a big bag, I've just been missing wearing this so got it out for a couple days!

What I wore:

navy tee with blue tie dye maxi skirt and purple balenciaga work bag accessorising monochromatic outfit

blue outfit with Balenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag | away from the blue

Earrings: Piper recycled metal turquoise tassel earring
Necklace: Target silver Alisha trinity pendant necklace
TeeAtmos & Here Avery marle tee in navy
Skirt: Jeanswest Farrah blue tie dye maxi skirt (from my sister's wardrobe)
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagBalenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

So pleased with this skirt! My sister had a wardrobe clear out. As we used to do when we lived together at our parents, we give each other first pic of anything we will be donating. She had so many new with tags pieces she no longer wanted, and a lot of adorable playsuits but I just can't get over the bathroom issue with playsuit and jumpsuits 😅 This maxi skirt however was definitely perfect for me!

I have a tie dye maxi dress in grey I've worn as a skirt a few times so I have lots of inspiration for how to wear this. And in fact this navy cropped tee over my grey tie dye maxi dress was one of my fave outfits with my dress, so this was such an obvious pairing. Added the turquoise tassel earrings for a little bit of matchy-matchy with the blue tie dye print. The white Converse were a comfortable choice for the school run, playground and library. And the purple Balenciaga work bag added more colour and gave plenty of space for a snack for the little one and our water bottles!

Last worn: navy cropped tee, turquoise tassel earrings, silver circle necklace, Converse, Balenciaga purple work bag. First time I've worn the tie dye maxi skirt as it's from my sister's wardrobe.

Other ways to wearnavy cropped tee and red skirtConverse and striped dress, Balenciaga purple work bag in the office.

30 Outfit Ideas For a Purple Balenciaga Work Bag:

What I wore:

ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
Bracelets: the usual plus Cora purpleheart and mother of pearl watch c/o JORD
BagBalenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

I'd planned to wear my old Kisschasy band tee with this striped maxi skirt for a quiet Friday. School run, library, and a couple errands. Being a cooler autumn morning than I expected that morning though I had to quickly add another layer - this denim jacket is a wardrobe oldie and it continues the monochrome blue look with the navy striped maxi skirt and navy tassel earrings. Again the purple Balenciaga work bag added more colour even though I didn't need all that space in my bag.

We had a couple errands to run and some books that had to be returned to the library that day, before getting home to wait for a delivery as hubby was only working from home in the morning and going into the office for the rest of the day. Busy, but achievable. However I'd not known that some of the places we had to visit had changed their opening hours. I noticed when I got there and there were different times written on the door than I'd seen online the night before. Turned a busy morning into a mad scramble to get everything done and back home on time, but we achieved it. Just! 😂 And at least it warmed up a little!

After school pickup in the afternoon I was exhausted. I'd planned to change into something a little dressier for drinks with the neighbours that night but decided just to keep wearing this. Worked out well as the heat that had developed over the day stuck around and the jeans outfit I'd planned would have been too warm. Ended up feeling really comfortable in this.

How You Can Wear It

A monochrome blue outfit is easy to do when you have as many different shades of blue in your wardrobe as I do! But this outfit formula of printed skirt and tee in the same colour family will work no matter what your favourite colour is.

V-Neck Tees, Printed Maxi Skirts and Rebecca Minkoff MAM Bag: Weekday Wear Link Up

For today's Weekday Wear Link Up, two simple printed maxi skirts and tee outfits, both featuring different shades of red and blue! And my neutral grey Rebecca Minkoff MAM bag that was definitely overdue a wear.

What I wore:

blue v-neck tee and red printed maxi skirt with grey Rebecca Minkoff mam bag |awayfromblue

Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue Instagram | blue v-neck tee and red printed maxi skirt

Necklace: Uniquely Made with Love Sea Change necklace
TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in washed poolside blue (new purchase)
Skirtthrifted Billabong 'Don't Think Of It' bikini red printed maxi skirt
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs pearl, howlite and hematite beaded bracelets
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

Breaking the "weekday" part of the Weekday Wear Linkup as I wore this on the weekend, taking the kids out for a bike ride around our favourite trail and stopping off at the playground before going home for lunch. Wanted something cool as it was such a humid day - this breezy red thrifted maxi skirt was perfect and it gave me the change to wear my newly purchased blue v-neck tee. I really like the pale blue with the red printed maxi skirt. I wasn't sure if this necklace would get 'lost' with the blue tee but I think it worked well!

We weren't planning to be out too long with the heat so I just packed a couple of snacks and all our water bottles in my grey Rebecca Minkoff MAM. It holds a ton! Stuck with my comfortable yet not quite matching the outfit New Balance sneakers, as after aggravating my knee injury I needed the extra support for our trail walking.

Last worn: beaded necklace, red printed maxi skirt, New Balance sneakers, Rebecca Minkoff MAM. First time I've worn the blue v-neck tee as it was a recent purchase.

Other ways to wearred printed maxi skirt and knit, Rebecca Minkoff MAM in the office.

What's In My Bag: Rebecca Minkoff MAM

What I wore:

clay v neck tee with nay stripe maxi skirt grey RM mini mab bag | awayfromblue

navy stripe maxi skirt, Rebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey | awayfromtheblue

Necklace: Target silver Alisha trinity pendant necklace
TeeCotton On The One fitted v tee in washed red clay
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star coast blue
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

With the reddish clay coloured tee and the navy printed maxi skirt this outfit is just a flipped version of the colours in the first one. I wore the Rebecca Minkoff grey MAM bag again with this, as once I start using this bag it is really hard to swap it out for another one as it just fits everything I need, and being a neutral grey it goes with everything!

Picked a simple matchy-matchy necklace with the silver hardware on the bag and comfortable Converse shoes to add another touch of colour with my outfit. We had a busy day, being parent helper in my son's classroom in the morning, grabbing some groceries at Woolies and then a play in the park before the afternoon school pickup and sports in the evening.

The first time I wore this tee I paired it with black shorts and it worked well but I really liked it this time around with the navy striped maxi skirt more, so I'll need to wear it again with navy in the future!

Last worn: washed clay tee, silver circle necklace, navy stripe maxi skirt, Converse, Rebecca Minkoff grey MAM bag (above).

Other ways to wearclay tee and shorts, navy stripe maxi skirt with yellow, Converse in monochrome outfit, Rebecca Minkoff grey MAM worn 30 ways bag

Perfect for pregnancyRebecca Minkoff grey MAM bag in second trimester.

How You Can Wear It:
A plain block colour v-neck tee is a great wardrobe basic and works well with printed pieces in your wardrobe. A printed maxi skirt makes a nice summer outfit with a v-neck tee but feels a little more dressed up than a standard pair of shorts.

Colourful V-Neck Tees, Striped Maxi Skirts and Louis Vuitton Neverfull

Two similar outfits for some very different days the week before Christmas! Colourful v-neck tees with striped maxi skirts, sneakers, statement necklaces and my Louis Vuitton damier azur Neverfull tote.

What I wore:

vertical stripe maxi skirt with purple tee Adidas superstar, Louis vuitton neverfull | away from blue

vertical stripe maxi skirt and Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull | away from blue

Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus teething necklace in pop
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in washed lilac
Skirt: thrifted SES Fashions vertical stripe maxi skirt
Shoesthrifted Adidas Superstar sneakers
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

This was not a fun and relaxing December day. Baby Boy had to go into hospital for more surgery, so I loaded up this big Louis Vuitton neverfull tote bag with things to keep him comfortable and entertained (as well as a big Woolies green bag with more essentials for a hospital stay) and we headed into the city.

I wore a similar outfit last time he had surgery, it was a little easier this time knowing a bit more of what to expect, and not having as long of a stay as we did back in December 4 years ago. I wore comfortable pieces, with this vertical striped maxi skirt not having been worn in a while and very easy to wash. The purple tee is one that's starting to show its age, although still wearable, so I knew it would be comfortable and I wouldn't be too distraught if it got blood on it that didn't wash off. Even the necklace is fully washable! Thankfully this time around the recovery was a bit easier and less messy. I think knowing what to expect and him being a little older really helped.

A massive thank you to all the staff at the Mater too, from the surgeon to the anaesthetist to all the nurses, they made our stay as nice as possible and being able to call with questions even on a December weekend once we were back home as he recovered more was much appreciated. And I don't take for granted the blessing of being able to be home for Christmas.

What I wore:

orange tee with navy stripe maxi skirt statement necklace LV neverfull tote damier azur | away from the blue

orange and navy tee and maxi skirt outfit with Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull | away from the blue

Necklace: thrifted blue statement beaded necklace
Tee: Jeanswest essential v-neck tee in marigold
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
ShoesNew Balance Coast women's running shoe in black
BagLouis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

Why I wore it:

This was a happier day! I took the kids out around our favourite trail that morning, trying to beat the rain and the humidity, just to get them out of the house. After a very stormy and wet week they hadn't been able to play much in the back yard so scooting and biking around a short little trail was a nice break, and thankfully Baby Boy was well enough. Even if the humidity was crazy by the time we got out of the door and we did get a little wet in the car park when it started to rain as we left!

Afterwards we went to check out the Christmas window displays at a local shopping centre, as well as pick up a little treat for morning tea and then back home. Just a short time out as Baby Boy wasn't up to too much, but it was good to get out the house.

Surprisingly I hadn't worn this marigold tee with the navy striped maxi skirt before! I have worn a mustard tee with this skirt before and liked the combination, the orange looks good with it too. Kept it comfortable for the little walk with my New Balance sneakers and tried to dress the outfit up a little with this thrifted statement necklace. The Louis Vuitton Neverfull was probably not the best choice with the impending storm and rain, but it was easy to throw everything into like snacks and water bottles and we didn't get too wet.

Last wornmarigold tee, blue statement necklace, navy stripe maxi skirt, New Balance sneakers, Louis Vuitton damier azur neverfull (above).

How You Can Wear It:

A striped maxi skirt is a great basic piece to have in your wardrobe and pairs so well with another staple basic, a colourful v-neck tee. It makes for an easy outfit for mum life, whatever the day has in store!

Christmas Outfits: Casual and Dressy | Weekday Wear Linkup

A bit of a bumper post for the Weekday Wear Linkup today, showing you three outfits I wore over Christmas. We were very lucky to be able to spend time with our families over Christmas, with few restrictions in place here in Queensland. We haven't had any cases of coronavirus in the community in our state for over 100 days so our Christmas celebrations went on as normal, even if we had a quieter December and skipped a few other events to ensure we would all be healthy and well for the most important days! I definitely didn't take it for granted this year, with virus outbreaks in NSW state making me wonder if our plans may have had to change, and my son in hospital for an operation the week before. We were very blessed to be able to celebrate as planned.

So today I'm sharing what I wore for Christmas Day and Christmas Eve with my side of the family, as well as what I wore to spend Boxing Day at hubby's family's delayed Christmas celebration. All wardrobe oldies, with the exception of a couple new bags I got for Christmas!

What I wore for Christmas day:

Jeanswest Heather textured maxi dress in eggshell grecian column style Christmas Day Outfit with gold leo envelope clutch champagne | awayfromblue

mint dress and mixed metal bracelet stack with Rebecca Minkoff Leo envelope clutch in champagne gold | away from blue

awayfromblue Instagram Christmas Day outfit grecian maxi dress rebecca minkoff leo envelope clutch in champagne gold accessories

Earrings: gold pendant chandelier earrings
Dress: Jeanswest Heather textured maxi dress in eggshell (c/o)
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus vintage silver charm bracelet and Disney Couture Winnie the Pooh bangle

Why I wore it:

This was my outfit for Christmas day itself. I was extremely excited to be able to wear my new bag, the Rebecca Minkoff Leo envelope clutch in champagne. It was massively reduced in the stocktake sales in June, so I bought one for myself and a few others as gifts, thinking as things were starting to get safer we would be back to regular and frequent parties for Christmas and New Year, ha! At over $100 off, I figured it was worth getting. Of course, with no big festive parties this will be the only time I wear it this year but it was fun to wear for Christmas day and I hope I have more chance to go out and use this clutch next year.

I knew I was going to wear an existing dress from my wardrobe for Christmas, I've had new ones the past few years so it was time to give one I already owned some love. Couldn't decide between this eggshell one or another purple printed one, but went with this dress in the end as I thought it matched my red glitter Christmas manicure better. Although I've had it a while I've never worn it for Christmas day before! Paired it with some gold accessories to compliment the champagne gold of the clutch. It was good to get all dressed up, we usually all get dressed up for church on Christmas day and although we didn't go to church this year we continued the tradition of dressing up.

Last worngold chandelier earrings, Grecian maxi dress, studded sandals. First time I've worn the Rebecca Minkoff Leo envelope clutch.

Other ways to wearGrecian maxi dress for a birthday party, studded sandals and shorts.

Perfect for pregnancyGrecian maxi dress in second trimester, studded sandals in second trimester.

What I wore for Christmas Eve:

striped maxi skirt with Fashion Scarf Girl burgundy foil reindeer and tree print Christmas scarf rebecca minkoff mini MAC | awayfromtheblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | festive santa green glitter tee with navy stripe maxi skirt for Christmas eve

Scarf: Fashion Scarf Girl burgundy foil reindeer and tree print Christmas scarf (tied on bag)
Earrings: Colette Ciao Bella glitter ball drop earrings
Tee: festive glitter Santa tee
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
Bracelets: the usual plus Christmas ribbon bracelet and Polka Luka resin bangles in red and teal
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC

Why I wore it:

I wore this the day before, on Christmas eve. Every year, my family get together for a relaxed catch up before the big day. We do crafts, eat lots of snacks, listen to Christmas music, make and decorate cookies, and watch a festive movie. Which by popular demand from the kids has been the Polar Express for the past few years 😂 It's so fun to spend time together and enjoy some quiet time before the present madness of Christmas day!

Had to wear my traditional Santa tee of course, and a comfortable maxi skirt for lounging around. It was a really humid day so added the burgundy and silver foil scarf on my metallic mini MAC bag instead of wearing it round my neck. Mum got me this scarf so I was eager to wear it and figure out a way to make it work for the humid day. Thought it was a fun festive touch with the outfit.

What I wore for Boxing Day Christmas celebration:

Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress with Chloe small paraty in periwinkle blue for Christmas on Boxing Day outfit | awayfromblue

Chloe periwinkle small Paraty with navy printed maxi dress | awayfromblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | Jeanswest navy printed maxi skirt with periwinkle small paraty bag gold accessories boxing day Christmas outfit

Earrings: Piper recycled metal turquoise tassel earring
Necklace: Lovisa gold filigree heart pendant
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus rose gold and faux pearl bracelet stack
Bag: Chloe periwinkle small Paraty

Why I wore it:

And on the third day of Christmas...the in-laws decided to do Christmas on boxing day instead. It was nice to not have to try travel around on Christmas day itself and the kids loved another day of presents! Christmas at the in laws is a lot more casual than in my family, and a much shorter gathering, but again I went with a maxi dress. This is an old favourite and I've hit 30 wears with it so I'll need to so a ways to wear post with it soon.

Something not too formal but not too casual, a maxi dress is just right! Wore my new bag with it - a massive thank you to my friend who texted me about this bag after I'd been telling her I was thinking of a Chloe Paraty for Christmas, she stumbled across it and knew it would be perfect. My husband was very pleased to see that this one was a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the other Paraty bag I'd had my eye on too 😂 so it was my Christmas gift from him and the boys. I just love the colour and it pairs so nicely with the navy printed maxi dress. The earrings are new, a Christmas present from my mum and although they are a different shade of blue I thought it complimented the navy dress well and the gold works with the necklace, sandals and hardware on the Chloe Paraty bag.

Last wornnavy printed maxi dress, heart necklace, studded sandals (above). First time I've worn the Chloe Paraty bag and the tassel earrings as they were both Christmas presents.

Other ways to wearnavy printed maxi dress layered for winter, studded sandals and little black dress.

Colourful Tees and Blue Prints With Rebecca Minkoff Pink Jean MAC Crossbody Bag

In an effort to get through more of my outfit backlog before Christmas, (as I feel weird posting Christmas themed outfits in the middle of January), another Wednesday post! Still won't be a regular occurrence but it's good to be able to do this now and then when I have gotten dressed most days of the week and have an overabundance of outfits! Simple summer outfits with tees and my little pink Rebecca Minkoff Jean MAC crossbody bag I shared in my last post too.

What I wore:

pink cotton on the one tee with navy printed culotte shorts rebecca minkoff jean MAC | awayfromblue

blue printed shorts and Rebecca Minkoff Jean MAC bag in fig | awayfromblue

awayfromtheblue Instagram | pink cotton on tee kmart printed navy culotte short rebecca minkoff jean mac

NecklaceHouse of Harlow sunburst necklace in silver and grey
TeeCotton On deep v tee in washed desert rose
Shorts: Kmart culotte short in navy lemon print
Shoesslim navy and pink Havaianas
BagRebecca Minkoff Jean MAC bag in fig

Why I wore it:

This was a long but fun day! We had to get a few things crossed off our Christmas shopping list so we headed out to the outlets. It was really productive and we got almost everything we went to buy, and I even managed to pick up some adorable little gold dishes to use for our Christmas table centrepiece. Even though I'm not hosting Christmas this year I like to decorate our table for December, and this year the boys and I painted some pinecones and covered them in glitter to use them on our dining table.

There are 3 different shades of pink in this outfit with the berry toned tee, pastel pink in the print of the shorts, and almost mauve pink of the Rebecca Minkoff Jean MAC bag. But I think it all worked so well together! I wasn't sure if the tee and bag would be too similar at first but I really enjoyed this combination and it was so comfortable for a long day of shopping at some very crowded stores.

What I wore:

Rebecca Minkoff Jean MAC bag in fig with purple tee and navy stripe skirt | awayfromtheblue

Necklace: blush pink and gold beaded tassel necklace
Tee: Spectrum basic v-neck tee in washed lilac
Skirt: Target navy side split maxi skirt
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs waxed leather cream howlite beaded wrap bracelet
BagRebecca Minkoff Jean MAC bag in fig

Why I wore it:

I really liked the colour combination of this outfit too! I like blue and pink and blue and purple together, this outfit has all of that and I even added another shade of pink with the blush necklace. I think the two shades of pink worked well with the lilac tee and I've worn this navy stripe maxi skirt with the purple tee before, it's a great pairing.

After the school run we had a quick errand to run - dropping off some donations at the opshop which of course turned into picking up more things 😂 Got some more Christmas decorations and a few more books for the kids and I. After that went to more shops to try and get more Christmas shopping done, picking up a few things we hadn't been able to get at the outlets the weekend before.

How You Can Wear It:

A pink bag goes with so many other colours! Navy is a good pairing but you can also try things like purple as I have in the second outfit, or different shades of pink like in the first outfit.
