My friend and I went to watch the great Brisbane duck race by the river today. It was good to sit in the sun for a bit, but I sat there much too long and I'm now very sunburnt. It was difficult to find shade and we underestimated how long we would be sitting in the sun, not good. Should have had a hat with me.
After lunch we went to the Brisbane Shopaholics Day Out, which was nice to browse for a little while. We went to the 'pampering pavilion' and had the chance to try TK's Lashes eyelash extensions thanks to Louise from Lou Lou Hair Design. We were really impressed with the extensions so we both bot a kit! It's a set that consists of gel and fibres. You kind of brush on your new eyelashes which is strange at first, but it works right away and it's glue free. It really makes a difference, without mascara!
Left with lashes, right without. I'm not a beauty blogger but thought I'd share anyway. You can order the kit direct from Louise.
Also took the chance to have my photo taken with a giant inflatable duck today! Was a nice Sunday.
The top has been worn before here, shoes here and bag here. This is the first time I've worn the skirt as it's a new purchase.
Hope you are all having a lovely Easter Sunday. Today we celebrate Jesus rising from the grave! And eat lots of chocolate :)
Video from Easter service at Church Online last year.
Today is also the day some friends are getting married, so I have scheduled this post and hope it works.
Here's what I wore today to spend the morning and afternoon at home with Cooper before getting ready for the wedding:
Top: Top: Jeanswest "Sarah" stripe tank in firecracker/coconut
Jeans: Also jeanswest!
Bracelets: the usual
Shoes: Asos 'flossy' flat sandals in tan
And tonight for the wedding I'll be wearing this.
As you can see I'm still undecided about what bag I'll be wearing! You can follow me on instagram @awayfromblue for some wedding pics tonight, and I'll upload a wedding outfit photo tomorrow.
Off to get ready now, have a fantastic Easter Sunday!
Had a bit of a giggle at my facial expressions when I was cropping the pictures! What can I say, it's been a long day. I liked this casual outfit, didn't need anything too fancy as I was working from home. What do you think?
Still wearing my Rebecca Minkoff swing bag! I really wanted to pair it with the purple maxi dress at least once. Thought the colours worked nicely together. It's gotten much warmer all of a sudden, despite winter being just a week away, so bright colours seemed a good outfit to wear on hot Sunday.
The purples and pinks in the scarf go so well with the dress too, looks like they were made to be paired together, don't you think?
Much more casual outfit today (although still with the same bag...) as I wanted to be comfortable out and about doing the grocery shopping I didn't get to do on Sunday as DH had a work event. Again, was warm enough to go sleeveless and not worry about adding any extra layers. Really doesn't feel like the end of Autumn!
Don't think I've ever paired orange and yellow together before - but I liked it. It was funny to come across Wilfully Elegant's latest post today where she paired the same colours together too. Must be the warm weather we are both experiencing, or the fact that great minds think alike!
I mentioned getting a hair cut in my last post. It seemed like a great idea at the time...but I'm struggling with how to style it when I have zero time with baby T. I'm also kinda missing my long hair...just now getting around to sharing the first outfits with my shorter hair. A casual daytime one and a slightly dressier evening one. I know my hair doesn't look great in either, but I'm still getting used to it...be kind ;)
Another play date for baby T! It's really fun now the babies are grown up and crawling around, there's a lot more 'playing' involved at our mummy meetups. Wore this casual outfit for a morning at an indoor playground with the ladies and babies from my mother's group. I haven't seen them in a while. It's gotten harder with even more people back at work and getting the days we have off to line up. I've started branching out a little too to join other groups, as now I know what my schedule is like for work I want to make sure that baby T has some activities planned for the days we have together.
Converse as you have to wear socks at the playground, and shorts again as they are really quite practical for playing on the ground with baby! I wore this tank because I've been looking at it hanging in my wardrobe for a while and felt it was due a final wear to decide if it stays or goes. I looked on the blog and I've actually worn it 7 times before which is more than I thought I had. One of the benefits of having a personal style blog, I can always search and see when I last wore something or how much something has been worn. I wasn't really loving it when I wore it, but I wasn't hating it either. It's just a nice top. Nothing special, but nothing I dislike. I am going to hold onto it a little longer and maybe try wearing it to work before I make a final decision if it stays or leaves my wardrobe.
This skirt has been worn 7 times too! I absolutely love this skirt. Of all of the $5 sale buys I have in my wardrobe, I think this one is the prettiest! I have about 8 pencil skirts to add to my wardrobe (that I had boxed away when the baby bump outgrew them) so I really need to make room for more skirts. I wore this so I could give it a final wear before I decide if I should keep it or remove it from my wardrobe. I was fairly certain I was going to get rid of it.
This skirt is a really beautiful piece so I was looking forward to wearing it one last time, and date night with DH was perfect. Baby T stayed at home with the babysitter and we went out for dinner and a show at QPAC. Although I did wonder at the last minute if I should take a jacket, it was so warm that evening I didn't need one. The cardi I grabbed as we rushed out the door just hung over my bag the whole time.
Usually if I am thinking of dressing up for a special occasion, I'd think of a dress rather than a skirt. It was really nice to wear this skirt though. Last time I wore it, it was hiding my little early second trimester baby bump! I know it's impractical at the moment due to the shorter length, and I won't have many chances to wear it while looking after baby...but I really do love it. If I saw it in store today I'd buy it, so it is staying in my wardrobe. Even if I don't know the next time I'll wear it and I really should let it go, it's just too pretty! It's a keeper.
Just a simple skirt and tank outfit for walking around in the heat. Used a big tote bag as I went shopping in the morning and just wanted to throw all my purchases in one bag. Popped to the stores to get some more wrapping paper, and settled in for the afternoon at home wrapping Christmas presents. However, I actually needed to get some sticky tape too...which I realised halfway through wrapping, oops! I definitely had enough paper though :)
Another relaxing day off and a nice casual shorts outfit. I think I'm pretty much gonna wear thongs (flip flops) from now until I return to work next year....haha. They are perfect summer footwear. And my mini MACs will be getting a lot of love too, they are the perfect bags for a day off / weekend. So much so, that I got another Rebecca Minkoff bag for my upcoming birthday! Cooper even helped me unwrap it ;)
Wanted to wear something comfortable yet suitable for dinner, so I went for a printed dress again. I really like the print on this dress and thought it would go well with my yellow clutch. I need to make an effort to wear my clutches more often, and yesterday was a good day to do so as I didn't have to carry much. The tan sandals seemed like an obvious choice to match the tan belt the dress came with.
The sunnies were last worn here, and clutch here. This is the first time I've worn the dress as it was a recent gift, and first time I've worn the sandals as they were a recent sale purchase.

Here's what I wore today to go out and about with Cooper and work at Church Online:
Just a nice casual outfit to beat the heat today! I was a little worried that this top would be too long to pair with the shorts and I'm not 100% convinced now I see the photos. Won't pair these shorts and that tank together again. What do you think?
