Weekday Wear Linkup! Striped Tanks Worn 2 Ways: In The Office, Casually

A little bit of print mixing for this week's Weekday Wear Linkup! Showing you two different ways to wear striped tanks, in the office and casually, and doing a little print mixing by having spotty accessories with the stripes in each outfit too!

What I wore:

autumn olive and yellow print mixing stripes and leopard print outfit with kimono | awayfromblue

olive jeans adn Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold | awayfromtheblue

NecklaceJeanswest Taryn turquoise tassel bead necklace
TankAtmos & Here Oregon stripe tank
JeansJeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green
ShoesWalnut Melbourne Ava white leopard ballet flats
BagRebecca Minkoff micro Regan satchel in Harvest Gold

Why I wore it:

Starting to realise you can't see my earrings with my new shorter haircut! 😂 I was so thrilled to wear jeans for once! I wore these a couple weeks ago, excited about the weather cooling down. Green is one of the colours I find tricky to wear and as a result these olive jeans are frequently worn with black - this striped tank seemed like an obvious choice. Added the white kimono as I wasn't sure which of my printed ones would look best with this and wanted to keep it simple!

Couldn't resist adding a little bit of leopard print to this outfit with the printed shoes too - I felt they worked nicely with the striped tank as they are the same colour scheme.

Hubby and I had an appointment to attend that unfortunately was in the middle of the day. We decided to make the most of it and take the day off. It was nice to have some quiet time at home to get caught up with a few must do tasks which are easier without the boys around!

Last worn: gold earringscrochet kimono, turquoise tassel necklace, black striped tank, olive jeans, leopard print flats, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan.

Other ways to wear: crochet kimono and shortsblack striped tank and maxi skirt, olive jeans and printed scarf, leopard print flats and little black dress, Rebecca Minkoff micro Regan and maxi dress.

My Favourite Rebecca Minkoff Bag:

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagRebecca Minkoff Edie small crossbody bag in magenta

Why I wore it:

I felt this outfit was lacking a little something - this cute blue polka dot scarf that I got as a Christmas present from my mum was the perfect finishing piece to add to the striped tank and pencil skirt and blazer outfit. It was a nice bit of print mixing and extra touch of colour with the grey.

The Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag added a little more colour too! I like how the magenta pops with the grey.

Last worn: grey jersey blazer, striped tank, grey pencil skirt, metallic ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Edie bag. First time I've worn the scarf as it was a Christmas present.

Striped Tanks Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A striped tank is a great wardrobe basic that you can easily dress up or down. Stripes are so fun to print mix with too! Why not try introducing a small accessory with a different print for a subtle take on pattern mixing in your outfit.

Printed Tanks, Maxi Skirts and Red Rebecca Minkoff Saddle Bag

While I have been trying to remove duplicate things from my wardrobe, I could not resist picking up another black maxi skirt for $1 in the opshop. So now I have two black maxi skirts! I love wearing maxi skirts though and think they are both different enough to justify keeping them.

A nice plain maxi skirt means you can wear it with a fun printed top, and add some extra colour with accessories like this red Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag.

What I wore:

Rebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue Instagram | windy outfit pic outtake printed tank black maxi skirt
Necklace: Kmart gold and navy beaded necklace
Tank: thrifted Target mixed print colourful printed tank
SkirtJeanswest Luxe jersey maxi skirt
ShoesNovo Tawny rose gold sandals
BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red (on sale in blue!)

Why I wore it:

Such a windy day when I wore this! It was tricky getting a good photo with the breeze blowing my hair and skirt around. It was so nice having some breeze though as it had been another hot and humid week.

Pretty quiet day so just needed a simple outfit. Swim lessons and some errands to run before catching up with friends in the evening.

With the mixed print in this top and all the colours, a neutral black skirt was an obvious pairing. I couldn't resist matching the red in the top with this Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag. I just love the way this bag looks with maxi skirts, it's a frequently worn combo.

Last worn: mixed print tank, navy and gold bead necklace, black drawstring maxi skirt, gold sandals, Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag.

Other ways to wearmixed print tank and olive shorts, black drawstring maxi skirt and denim jacket, gold sandals at Christmas, Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag and navy dress.

BagRebecca Minkoff unlined saddle bag in cherry red (on sale in blue!)

Why I wore it:

Another windy day, another maxi skirt and printed tank outfit. This time I went overboard with the red, adding this red flat beaded necklace to my outfit to match the red saddle bag. I thought it would be nice to wear the skirt and necklace together, after I thrifted them both at the same time!

Another quiet day. Some time at the playground, a doctors appointment and a quick grocery shop. This maxi skirt was so nice to wear on such a hot but windy day, it flapped around a lot and kept me cool.

Last worn: red necklace, animal print tank, black ruffle hem maxi skirt, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff saddle bag (above).

Bold Printed Dresses For The Office & Weekday Wear Linkup

Another Weekday Wear Linkup for you to join, and some office style. As much as a work wardrobe needs classic, neutral basic pieces you can turn to again and again, it's fun to introduce some bolder prints and colours too!

My work wardrobe has certainly changed a lot in the 10 years I've been at my current company, from neutrals and button up shirts to bright colours, statement necklaces and fun prints. The dresses I'm wearing below might be a bit too bold for a more formal, conservative office dress code, but work perfectly in a business causal office like mine.

What I wore:

ruby olive necklace with French Connection 'Woodblock wonder' panache dress and fran bag | awayfromblue

Fashion Scarf Girl Navy and Gold hair scarf tie in bow on Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue instagram | orange printed french connection sheath dress colourful statement necklace marc jacobs fran bag

NecklaceRuby Olive Art series long striped pod necklace
DressFrench Connection 'Woodblock wonder' panache dress in white/geranium rose
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

This orange dress is such a bold print and colour but it's perfect for our summer heat as it's linen, and the print disguises creases so it's perfect for a busy day of sitting at my desk in the office!

I added the colourful Ruby Olive necklace for a little extra colour, not that the dress needed much! I had another necklace in mind but I thought it was too much, this necklace seemed to work nicer with the orange print and it was a lovely way to remember my friend though the day, as she lost her cat the day before.

The Marc Jacobs Fran bag has been worn a few times with this dress, so I tried to change it up a little this time and wore the hair scarf tied in a bow on the handle, just a little point of difference from the last time I wore the dress and bag together.

Last worn: Ruby Olive necklace, hair scarf, orange printed dress, silver ballet flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag.

Other ways to wearhair scarf tied on wrist, orange printed dress and blazer, silver ballet flats and little black dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag and wrap dress.

Perfect for pregnancyorange printed dress hiding an early baby bump, silver ballet flats in third trimester, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag in second trimester.

What's In My Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran Bag

NecklaceStarfish Project Veronica short yellow multi strand necklace
DressJeanswest ruffle neckline animal print dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

Why I wore it:

This dress has been in my wardrobe for years, although it's not been as frequently worn as others. You can see the first time I wore on on the blog back in 2012, in one of my early posts! It just goes to show that animal print will always be a classic you can pull out year after year.

It's not the first time I've worn this dress with the Marc Jacobs Fran bag, they have been a frequent combination over time, as I think the carob brown of the bag works well with the neutral colours in the print. With the camel flats too, I thought the outfit needed a little touch of colour with all of the neutrals, and this yellow statement necklace was the perfect touch.

Last worn: yellow beaded necklace, leopard print dress, camel flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag (above).

Other ways to wearleopard print dress and blush blazer, camel flats and wrap dress, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag and burgundy pants.

Printed Dresses For The Office Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A printed dress is such a fun office piece. You can pair it with neutral shoes and a bag to tone the print down, or cover it up a little more with a blazer if you are worried it might be too bold for your office environment. Alternatively, you can maximise the print with colourful statement necklaces and bolder handbag and shoe choices.

Printed Tees, Denim Shorts and Balenciaga G21 Hardware Bags

When it's a hot and humid weekend, I default to the simple summer outfit: shorts and tee! For something a little different, I'm wearing some printed tees and accessorising with Balenciaga bags.

What I wore:

orange leopard print tee black denim shorts Balenciaga part time bag | awayfromblue

Balenciaga part time bag in black 2010 with SGH | awayfromtheblue

awayfromblue instagram neon orange leopard print tee black denim shorts Balenciaga part time bag
NecklaceJeanswest Taryn turquoise tassel bead necklace
TeeSass and Bide 'New Day Rising' tee in orange leopard print
ShortsJeanswest Sara distressed hot short
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagBalenciaga part time in black 2010 with SGH

Why I wore it:

This tee is so rarely worn. It's a bit bold and in your face, being orange leopard print, but it was perfect for the 'orange kisses' style prompt with the style challenge I was doing on Instagram. It's also super soft and so comfortable to wear. While I wear it really sparingly, I was once again reminded of how much I love it, so it's definitely still hanging around in my wardrobe (even if this is only it's fifth wear in 4 years!). Hopefully it doesn't go so long between wears in future!

With the bold orange neon tee I felt simple was best so stuck with black accessories. Black denim shorts, Havaianas, and my black Balenciaga part time bag. Even though the pendant necklace is gold and the studded hardware on my bag is silver, I felt they looked okay together.

This was a simple outfit to take my parents in the airport in the morning and then run a few errands with the boys and pick up some last minute food pieces for a Christmas party in the evening (which I got changed for). Mid January and I'm still posting December pics, eek!

Last worn: orange leopard print tee, tassel pendant necklace, black denim shorts, Havaianas, Balenciaga Part Time Bag.

TeeJeanswest Flavia foil printed polka dot tee deep iris
Shortsthrifted Jeanswest distressed denim shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

Why I wore it:

I didn't like this outfit as much as the one above! It was a busy day. There was a threat of a storm all day but we decided to head to the local Christmas markets anyway as I'd seen a stall holder advertising on facebook that I really wanted to check out to pick up the final Christmas gift off my list. Unfortunately, the threat of the storm had meant there weren't as many stall holders as planned and the stall I wanted wasn't there. We found an alternative present, but it wasn't as good as my first choice option, and did mean we had to stop at the shops on the way home to pick up a couple of other little things.

I wanted to try something different and do a little print mixing with this tee - I thought the navy polka dots would be a nice back ground for this red printed kimono. I really like red and navy together. I didn't love this outfit as much as I'd hoped though. The print mixing looked great when I held the pieces up side by side the night before but not so much once I wore them in the morning. Feeling hot and bothered all day with the humidity didn't help me love my outfit any more either, haha!

Last worn: red printed kimono, navy polka dot foil tee, distressed denim shorts, Havaianas (above), Balenciaga Tempete Day bag.

Similar Printed Tees Under $50:

How You Can Wear It

Shorts and a tee is a staple summer outfit for many people! You can add a little more interest by swapping out a plain tee for something bright and bold. A fun printed tee is a nice alternative, while still being just as comfortable. You could even try print mixing like in the second outfit by adding a kimono.

Colourful Pants In the Office: Spring Casual Workwear Outfits

One benefit of a business casual dress code at work is having a lot more leeway in what I wear. With a busy couple of days planned, without many meetings away from my desk, I took the opportunity to wear some outfits that I know would be too casual for most corporate offices. Simple blouses and colourful pants (with a blazer nearby in case any important meetings came up).

What I wore:

mustard scarf with black blouse and olie jeans balenciaga day bag | away from the blue

Balenciaga truffle brown RH classic day bag | away from the blue

awayfromtheblue instagram jeanswest mustard scarf black blouse olive skinny jeans balenciaga day bag
ScarfJeanswest Lucille golden yellow scarf (new purchase)
TopJeanswest 'Tilda' black shirt
PantsJeanswest Vicki skinny pant in moss green (new purchase)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
BagBalenciaga truffle brown RH classic day bag

Why I wore it:

Wearing some of my recent purchases from Jeanswest! Yes, these olive pants are now my third pair of green pants! After thrifting a couple of pairs a few weeks ago, I probably didn't need a third pair, but couldn't resist snapping these up on sale. The scarf was the original piece I went in to buy, but with an extra 40% off sale items I browsed the sale rack too.

It's not the first time I've worn mustard and green together, I really like the combination and I got so many compliments on my scarf when I wore this. The only downside to it is that the scarf was brand new and shed a little bit - a black blouse that attracts fluff was probably not the best choice. It did make for a great backdrop for the scarf to pop against though!

With the green and mustard together, the black blouse and tan accessories seemed like good neutrals. I really liked this outfit, and I was happy that the olive jeans passed as plain cotton pants for the office.

Last worn: black blouse, Marc Jacobs flats, Balenciaga day bag. First time I've worn the scarf and olive jeans as they are recent purchases.

Other ways to wearblack blouse and a-line skirt, Marc Jacobs flats and wrap dress, Balenciaga day bag and printed dress.

Perfect for pregnancyblack blouse in second trimester, Marc Jacobs flats in third trimester, Balenciaga day bag and hidden baby bump.

Why I wore it:

The credit for this outfit goes to all the American bloggers posting about fall! It's a very autumnal coloured outfit for spring, with the navy studded blouse and burgundy pants. I added the leopard print scarf as leopard print has been everywhere on blogs lately. I really liked all these pieces together!

Navy and burgundy is a colour combination I've frequently worn with these pants. With the gold statement earrings too, I just had to wear my gold mouse flats for a little matchy matchy. I was in a bit of a rush this morning to get photos and get to work on time so as you can see I didn't notice I hadn't put the mirror back in the bag before snapping some pics. I still loved the neutral brown bag with the navy and burgundy though, even if it shows how much of a rush I was in that morning by being a little untidy.

Colourful Pants Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

Colourful pants are a fun touch to a casual office outfit, or just for everyday wear. A plain, block colour blouse is a great topper with colourful pants. You can stick to a neutral shade so you don't have to worry about things matching. You can add more colour or interest to your outfit with a bright or printed scarf too.

Ruffle Dresses In The Office: Printed And Plain with Purple Balenciaga Work

Like anyone with a large wardrobe, there are many different factors that come into play when picking what to wear. Mood, planned activities, weather... however the only reason I wore these dresses was because I saw them hanging in my wardrobe and realised I hadn't worn them in a while! They are sleeveless, but it was easy to layer them up for cold mornings.

While both of these dresses look different, they are exactly the same style with a ruffled neckline, sheer top layer with opaque lining, and an elasticated waist. Because one is printed and one is plain, they look like two completely different dresses.

What I wore:

camel trench, bleu louis vuitton monogram shawl, balenciaga work bag | away from blue

Balenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag | away from the blue

office selfie leopard print ruffle dress grey cardigan | working mum style | away from blue

EarringJeanswest Evy dangly earring
ScarfLouis Vuitton monogram shawl in bleu
DressJeanswest ruffle neckline animal print dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs black logo plaque ballet flats
BagBalenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

While this dress does have a lot going on - it's a busy animal print, with a lot of ruffles on top - it never feels overpowering. The neutral colours make it really easy to accessorise. I went with some bright colours, picking the blue Louis Vuitton scarf and the purple Balenciaga work bag for another touch of colour.

While it is spring, when I wore this a few weeks ago it was still quite cold in the mornings, so my cosy trench coat and some fleece lined tights were much needed additions for my early morning commute.

As I wonder every time I wear this dress, I'm not sure why I don't wear it more often! It's a beautiful piece and got me a few compliments through the work day.

Last worn: camel trench, dangly earrings, Louis Vuitton shawl, animal print ruffle dress, Marc Jacobs ballet flats, Balenciaga purple work bag.

Other ways to wear: camel trench and burgundy pants, Louis Vuitton shawl and black pencil skirt outfit, animal print ruffle dress and blazer, Marc Jacobs ballet flats and sheath dress, Balenciaga purple work bag.

What's In My Bag: Balenciaga Work Edition

Scarf: navy bird print scarf
DressJeanswest deep pink ruffle neckline dress (updated version)
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagBalenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

This dress is just as bold as the one in the first outfit, although it's due to the colour rather than the print. It's a lovely plain dress, a very berry toned pink so it looks more red here, but it looks more pink in other photos. I wouldn't ordinarily go with a purple bag for a red dress, but felt this reddish pink was pink enough that I could wear the combo. I've worn this dress with another purple bag before too.

The only downside to this outfit was that I realised on the way to work that the 'I think I've forgotten something' feeling I have most mornings I go to work was actually valid. I'd left my cardigan behind at home. Since we moved to 'hot desking' at work, I don't have a permanent desk or a desk drawer to stash a cardigan in and have to take one to work each day. I ended up taking my scarf off and tying it into a kind of kimono as I needed my shoulders covered for a few meetings. I figured a strange cover up was better than no cover up, plus the air con was particularly cold that day. It may also have felt colder because I was coming down with the bug the boys had.

So while I liked this outfit when I put it on in the morning, the lack of a cosy layer to cover up the sleeveless design and feeling a little unwell meant I wasn't too happy with it in the end!

Last worn: navy macintosh, bird print scarf, berry ruffle neckline dress, Walnut Melbourne flats, Balenciaga work bag (above).

Ruffle Dresses Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

Ruffle dresses are perfect for a business casual workplace. A bright colour or print makes it a fun change from a classic black pencil skirt. Just make sure to bring something to cover up with in meetings or to battle the office air-con, particularly if your dress is sleeveless like these 😂
