Matching Bright Bags to Skinny Jeans With Tees and Kimonos

Taking advantage of the spring weather to wear two blue kimonos. Wearing two different brightly coloured jeans that match the bags I chose to wear too. I like being a little matchy-matchy when wearing a colourful bag. I've shared matching bags to shoes, scarves and printed tees before too.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

Wore this for a warm spring day that quickly turned into a very hot day! I regretted picking this kimono a little, it's  a cosy cocoon style which was a bit too warm by the time we got halfway around the bike trail the boys were scooting and biking around.

I regretted the white tee choice too when we did some baking later in the afternoon. Luckily the cocoa powder stains came out in the wash!

I did like the colour combo in this outfit though, navy and green look so nice together and the little green Rebecca Minkoff 5 zip bag complimented the green jeans nicely.

Why I wore it:

Sticking with the same simple outfit formula I wore above with a blue kimono, v-neck tee and bright skinny jeans. Went with red ones and picked my little red Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery tote bag as well. Just like the bag and jeans above, the shades don't match exactly but do compliment each other nicely.

Wore this on a day it was predicted to rain so we headed out to an indoor play place for the kids. It didn't rain but the boys did have a lot of fun, especially when the special guest arrived. Queen Elsa was very lovely and "remembered" them from Disneyland which made their day! Something a bit different for them and they really enjoyed it.

30 Ways To Wear: Navy Rebecca Minkoff Medium MAB Tote Bag

I really enjoy putting these 30 ways to wear posts together, it's a good way to look back at my outfits, gives me some inspiration for things to wear in future. I hope it inspires you too!

This month I'm sharing my beautiful navy blue Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote bag. Don't let the name fool you, this bag is quite large! (Although it does come in a smaller size that I also own, and an even larger size too!)

I'm surprised it's taken me so long to put this post together! This bag is often worn to the office, it's a great tote for fitting anything and everything in and still looking classy when it sits on my desk. While I have tried it casually once, I much prefer keeping it as an office only bag, when the structured design works better with my outfits.

Cost Per Wear

I picked this up in the Rebecca Minkoff sale for $202.65 back in 2015. At 39 wears, it's still got a lot to go to hit the "$1 per wear" figure people aim for (currently at $5.19) but I can see myself using this for many years to come, it is such a timeless tote design. I do tend to use it for work, which is why I'm only just past 30 wears now, I had a 18 month maternity leave from 2016 to 2017 so I haven't been reaching for it all 4 years I've had it!

MAB Tote Bag with Monochromatic Blue Outfits

Blue is my favourite colour - I wear it to boost my mood and my confidence and also when I'm just having a great day and want to continue that happy feeling! I love a monochromatic blue outfit, and paired with this navy blue Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB bag, it creates an outfit I adore. I just need a blue pair of shoes now to go head-to-toe blue!

Navy Tote Bag with Black

If you haven't tried it, navy and black is a great colour combination! I think the two neutrals work so well together. A navy bag with a black outfit is a nice way to try the colour combination out on a smaller scale. You can go monochromatic black with a dress, a little bit of black with a pencil skirt, and even break up the colour a little with a bright scarf if you're unsure about just wearing the navy and black side by side.

Navy MAB Tote Bag With Pink

Another much loved colour combination of mine! I like pink and blue together, in any combination of shades. As you can see from these otufits, from a pastel pink blazer to a hot pink tee, the navy MAB tote bag works with every intensity of pink. If you just want to try the colour combination in a small way, and a pink dress with a navy bag like the fits outfit is too bold for you, you could always add a pink scarf to your outfit.

Matchy-matchy makes it so easy to pull an outfit together! When you're not sure what bag to wear you can just pick one that matches a colour in your outfit. It's a simple tip but it really helps an outfit feel more cohesive, even if it's just as simple as a navy scarf to match your bag.

Navy MAB Tote Bag With Printed Dresses For The office

Printed dresses are an office staple, they make getting ready for work so easy as you don't have to mix and match with a one and done outfit! As you can see in the pics, no matter the print or colour of the dress, this neutral navy tote works with them all.

MAB Tote Bag with Pencil Skirts At Work

Another staple work option for me, the classic pencil skirt. A big tote bag looks nice with a pencil skirt outfit, and works more formally with a blazer to dress up a more casual cardigan and skirt outfit. You can't go wrong with a structured tote and pencil skirt in the office!

Navy MAB Tote Bag With Print Mixing Office Outfits

It's nice to have a little fun with your outfit when you're wearing a neutral bag - you can be more adventurous with colour or prints. Even if you just add a little hint of print mixing to your outfit by adding a printed scarf on top of a different print, a neutral tote is a great complimentary accessory, as you don't have to worry about the big block colour clashing with any of the prints.

This is quite a large tote, and sometimes it can feel a little plain being a big neutral square. As you've seen in the outfits above, a bag charm is a cute addition to the bag to break up the colour a little, and in these outfits I've accessorised the bag by tying scarves around the handles. This works well on the way to the office when it's a hot summer day but you know you will need a scarf at your desk in the cold aircon! It's also a nice way to add another colour or print to your outfit.

Slouchy Tees, Printed Maxi Skirts and Statement Necklaces With Red Rebecca Minkoff Micro Avery Tote

I love a good slouchy tee and I love a maxi skirt – paired together it makes a comfortable and practical outfit for days with the kids. To dress up these outfits a little I wore statement necklaces with them, and my trusty little red Rebecca Minkoff micro avery bag.

Why I wore it:

A busy day when I wore this! I did a little opshopping in the morning to pick up a few more necklace options trying to find the perfect way to accessorise my dress for an event, and we had to stop by the library and grocery store.

The afternoon was more relaxed, a leisurely stroll / bike / scoot around our local park after a last minute rush to the bank to pickup a copy of a letter that never arrived . This comfortable outfit was just what I needed. I loved this statement necklace against the red slouchy tee, I’ve worn it with a red tee before and liked it then too. The vertical striped maxi skirt has pockets too which is so practical. And the gold mouse flats matched the gold hardware on the little Rebecca Minkoff micro avery bag nicely.

Why I wore it:

Not the first time I’ve worn this beautiful red thrifted maxi skirt with a blue tee! I like blue and red together so this skirt is worn with blue a lot, and the $3 thrifted skirt with the tee that works out to about 63 cents makes for a very affordable outfit! I got the tee in a bag of clothes in the “fill a bag for $5” sale which is why it works out so cheaply! I was dressing for comfort as we headed out to the airport early in the morning to pick someone up, and then lunch and shopping with my sister later.

I picked this silk beaded necklace to use as distraction for the boys while we waited at the airport – but thankfully we didn’t have to wait wrong. The extra pearl bracelets were another distraction tool – it’s so normal for my boys to play with my accessories when I pick them up for cuddles – part of the reason I rarely wear delicate or sharp statement necklaces on my SAHM days, preferring them for office days!

How You Can Wear It:

There's a fashion "rule" that you shouldn't pair two voluminous pieces, like a slouchy oversized tee and a billowy maxi skirt together. But I say you should wear what makes you comfortable, and a maxi skirt and tee is such a comfy outfit! Perfect easy outfit for a mum too, no worrying about the skirt being too short as you run around with the kids!

Weekday Wear Linkup! Long Sleeve Blouses and Pencil Skirts For Spring

Trying a new colour scheme and an old favourite for today's Weekday Wear Linkup, with some pretty blouses and textured pencil skirts.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

I'd planned to wear this outfit the previous day I was in the office, but the crazy heatwave meant I changed up what I'd planned to wear then, and wore this on my other office day instead. I was glad to be able to wear this outfit at last!

Thought I'd try something a little different with the blush skirt and the berry blouse together. I really liked the colour combo, and decided to keep it simple with everything else, going without a necklace or statement earrings and just wearing black accessories. I thought the black ballet flats and Balenciaga part time bag matched the fuzzy polka dots on the skirt nicely.

Why I wore it:

Unlike the first outfit, this is a colour combo I often wear. This blue lace skirt looks great paired with other blue pieces and when I saw this blouse in the Target clearance sale I thought of wearing it with this skirt right away. Instead of a necklace I wore my Kmart gold and mustard tassel earrings, to match the gold mouse flats. The Rebecca Minkoff navy Regan bag matched the navy top and lace skirt well too.

The only downside with this outfit is that the blouse looked a bit too voluminous with the half tuck. Think I need to try tuck it all in next time. It's an awesome relaxed trapeze cut but it made tucking into this high waisted skirt a little tricky!

Kmart Floral Dresses For Spring With Rebecca Minkoff MAB Camera Bag

Like every other Aussie mum, I can't resist a Kmart bargain! While the Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag I'm wearing in these outfits is more of a splurge, I picked up the first floral dress on sale for just $12 and you're sure to recognise the second floral maxi dress as an old favourite - even full price it was just $25! These floral dresses are so perfect for our spring weather in Brisbane.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

While I've shared this on the blog before, this was the first time I wore this beautiful floral mid dress. I decided to wear it with the new earrings I picked up in the Kmart clearance too, I liked the way the mustard looked with the teal of the dress! I kept the rest of the accessories neutral with my matchy-matchy tan ankle boots and Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag. I loved how comfortable this dress was to wear, such a nice option to attend church.

I did hesitate buying this dress for a second because of the long sleeves - wasn't sure if I'd get much wear out of it this year with Brisbane having such a hot start to Spring so far! I do like wearing long sleeved dresses in summer for the extra sun protection though and this didn't feel too hot at all, was such a nice dress to wear on a warm spring day.


Last worn: teal floral midi dress, tan ankle boots, Rebecca Minkoff MAB camera bag. First time I've worn the mustard tassel earrings as they are a recent purchase.

Why I wore it:

This Kmart tiered tropical floral print maxi dress is an old favourite - an impulse buy a few years ago after seeing a bunch of Aussie Instagrammers wearing it, it's one I keep reaching for in my wardrobe. I'm surprised I haven't hit 30 wears with it yet! (This is wear number 16.) I've worn it with denim jackets before, as it's a spaghetti strap dress it's nice to have a little extra cover on a colder spring day with a jacket.

I wore this out for a celebratory dinner, we sold our old house, yey! We've been in this house we built for a few months but it took a little time to get our old place ready to sell and then listed and sold. A little sad, it was the house we bought just before our wedding and we moved in as husband and wife so lots of memories there - we lived there 10 years! But it was much too small as our family grew.

As it was predicted to rain and a little cooler, the denim moto jacket was an easy option with this dress, and I wore the gold mouse flats to keep my feet warm and dry on the walk from the car to the restaurant. With all the bold colour in the maxi dress, the neutral gold flats were an obvious choice.

I really liked the thrifted turquoise necklace with the coral dress, and it matched the colours in the print nicely. Unfortunately, while cuddling my son as we waited for dinner, he got a bit antsy and grabbed my necklace, and pulled. One of the strings snapped, showering beads everywhere! I managed to grab the string without having too many beads fly and tried to kind of repair it a little...a reminder that I need to pick more kid friendly, less delicate necklaces when I'm out with the boys! I'm glad the necklace will live on for another wear too, as long as my hastily tied knot holds, ha!

A bright floral dress is an obvious choice for spring, it's the perfect season for head to toe florals! You can keep things simple and let the dress be the star when paired with neutral accessories like the MAB camera bag, or add just a little extra colour with accessories like earrings in the first outfit or a statement necklace in the second outfit. Just remember to factor in grabby toddler hands if you're a mum, to prevent necklace destruction!

Waterfall Cardigans, Printed Shorts And V-Neck Tees With Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC

It's been a very hot spring so far in Brisbane but the mornings and evenings started out a little cooler, so I decided to add some cardigans to my shorts and tee outfits to keep me warm. Even if I did end up taking both cardigans off by lunchtime 😂

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

I really like pink and purple together and I like how this purpley-magenta cardigan works so nicely with the neon pink Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC bag. They were fun accessories with the monochromatic grey tee and black printed shirt too. The cardigan became much too hot halfway round the trail the kids were biking and scooting around so I quickly took it off. Had been perfect in the colder start to the day though.

Nice quiet day with the kids, shorts and tee and Converse was a great outfit, even if the cardigan didn't stay on long.

Why I wore it:

This navy cardigan didn't stay on long at all! It had seemed like a nice idea in the morning but I quickly realised during swimming lessons that it was far too hot for it, and left it in the car!

I did like the way the navy cardigan worked so well with the navy printed shorts and the bright mustard tee, just was a much warmer day than I anticipated! I like mustard and navy together, and although the yellow in the print on the shorts is lemon I think the mustard tee paired nice with it and was a fun pop of colour with the navy. I went a little matchy-matchy with my accessories, wearing my metallic silver mini MAC bag and also my glittery silver sneakers.

How You Can Wear It:
In spring and autumn, cardigans are great layers to add for the cooler mornings and evenings and aren't too bulky to pop in a bag if you take them off during the day. You can try wearing your cardigans with printed shorts when you know the day is going to heat up, using the cardigan to add more colour like I did in the first outfit, or matching the print in the shorts like I did in the second outfit.
