We had such a fun day at the Gold Coast Pet and Animal Expo. We got a lot of freebies, bought at lot, learned a lot and Cooper had some fun meeting the other animals of all shapes and sizes!

Definite highlight for me was the Oscar's Law stall where I spent a good amount of time talking to one of the lovely volunteers there about how to do more to help bring change and see the end of puppy farms. Would be so nice to see an end to puppy farms in Cooper's lifetime.

Cooper was too worried about the mobile hydrobath next to the Oscar's Law stand to turn and smile for the photo. He was scared it was bath time!

The singlet was last worn here, jeans here, sandals here and bag here.

Today there were Oscar's Law rallies in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. Although there were none in Queensland for me to attend, I wore this tee today in support. Our little shelter dog Cooper makes us smile every single day. I hope that Oscar's Law is made into law and puppy mills are banned in Australia so that thousands of abandoned shelter dogs can go to a forever home where they will make their new family smile every day too.

The tee was last worn here, jeans here and shoes here. This is the first time I've worn the bag as it's a new purchase.

Oscar's Law Singlet, Jeans, Yellow Sunnies, Balenciaga Sandals, RM MAC

Here's what I wore to spend some time shopping with my friend and packing for Sydney today:
Sunnies: Yellow sunglasses from the Ekka (similar here)
Bracelets: the usual (plus a hair tie!)
TopOscar's Law pink ladies singlet (from http://www.oscarslaw.org/)
JeansSass and Bide "Frayed Misfits" (similar here)
ShoesBalenciaga sorbet RGGH studded sandals (similar here)
BagRebecca Minkoff Deep Purple MAC (similar here)

Just a nice easy outfit today - spent most of the day trying to figure out what to pack for our Sydney trip!

I'm wearing an Oscar's Law singlet today as I want Oscar's Law and the banning of puppy farms. Puppies that are sold in pet stores and online come from puppy farms - mills or factories where dogs are confined to cages their entire lives. They never see grass or toys or human affection. They are kept for the sole purpose of breeding to supply puppies to pet stores.

You can take a stand for Oscar's Law and show the governement we don't want puppy farms in Australia! There are protests planned for next weekend in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. You can find all of the details here.

Banning puppy farms is something I feel very strongly about. There are so many pets in shelters across the country waiting for a new home, through no fault of their own. Adopt, don't shop :)

The singlet was last worn here, jeans here, sandals here and bag here.

Here's what I wore to go to the Ekka (Royal Brisbane Show) today:
Jacket seen on bag in first pic: Juicy Couture Long Sleeve Original Zip Hoodie in 'Silver Lining'
Necklacegift from DH (similar here)
Bracelets: the usual plus Indigo Rose Design fuchsia jade bracelet and Asos spike bracelets in Rhodium and Gunmetal.

Shoes: Converse Chuck Taylor All Star low in white
BagBalenciaga 2008 Sapphire RH city (similar here)
Bag in the second picture: Woolworths green bag full of Ekka goodies!
Stylish person I'm standing next to in the first photo: my sister.

Today my sister and I took our friend to the Ekka for the first time. The Ekka is a big show that runs for a week in the middle of Brisbane. There are rides, shopping, entertainment, exhibitions, displays, competitions and lots of animals. You can find out more here if you're interested. It's really loud, crowded and expensive but a lot of fun too.

My outfit changed slightly throughout the day. The jacket came off quickly as it was really warm and sunny. I bought an awesome pair of yellow sunnies and put them on instead of my Dior ones so I could match my sister with hers, and I bought a beautiful bracelet that had to be added to my wrist too. Saved adding it to the green bag that was filling with showbags and everything else we had bought or won at the shows ;)

And as you can see, thumbs up was the unofficial picture pose of the day. My camera is full of poses of us with our thumbs up. :) It was a really fun day.

More Ekka pictures on Instagram.

The jacket was last worn here, tee here, jeans here and bag here. It's the first time I've worn the shoes on the blog.

Today is a special day! If you've read my blog for a while or seen the image in my sidebar you'll know I support Oscar's LawOne year ago today, Debra legally rescued Oscar from a puppy farm. Today is Oscar's "gotcha" day, celebrating his first year of freedom

Before being rescued, Oscar was stuck in a cage in a puppy farm and used for breeding over and over. Now, he is able to run around on the grass, get love and attention from humans and get to play with other dogs. He can curl up in a blanket when it's cold and play with toys whenever he wants. He can be a dog. You can watch the video below to see how his life has changed. I recommend it, it's such a feel good video. Especially at the end.

Pet store puppies come from puppy mills. That cute little puppy in the window has parents stuck in cages. Don't buy animals from pet stores - buy from a reputable breeder or adopt. I want Oscar's Law so that every puppy farm dog can experience freedom and have the happy ending Oscar has.

Thank you for reading. You can find out more about Oscar at www.oscarslaw.org

The jacket was last worn here, dress here, boots here and bag here. It's the first time I've worn the scarf on the blog.

One day, two outfits

Busy Saturday today! I wore one outfit during the day and swapped to another in the evening. Does anyone else do that? :)

Here's what I wore to vote in the state election, run some errands and take Cooper to the groomers:
Singlet: Oscar's Law pink ladies singlet (from http://www.oscarslaw.org/)
Necklace: gift from DH
Bracelets: the usual
Jeans: Jeanswest
Thongs: Cotton On
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff mini MAC in Aquamarine with python embossed leather from shopbop
Can of solo: fundraising BBQ!

DH snapped this as we were enjoying a quick bite to eat at the BBQ after voting, that's why I'm sitting on a wall with a can of solo! hehe.

Cooper looks much better after his grooming - and he can see again! His face was getting too fluffy, he was really overdue a good cut.

Here's a quick before and after:
He's much happier after!

We are eading out to a friend's for dinner and drinks tonight so I changed what I was wearing. Cooper always wants cuddles after being at the groomers and although I love it, it means I get covered in cut hair. Not a good look for going out.

Here's what I'm wearing to dinner:
Top: just jeans black lace trim singlet
Bracelets: the usual
Pants: Burnt Ochre orange pants from Vero Moda at Asos
Wedges: Ninewest "Quicken" wedges in natural
Bag: vintage Chanel chevron evening bag

And now I have to go or I will be late. Have a great Saturday night everyone :)

Blogger interview, Cooper and Mica want Oscar's Law!

I am so excited to see this post on The Fashionoclast today! Frederik, one of the writers at the Fashionoclast asked if I would like to be interviewed and of course I said yes. The thing I like best about it is how eloquent his introduction is compared to my responses ;)

So go ahead and check out my first ever blog interview here at The Fashionoclast!

Relaxing day today spending time with my family and a trip to the park. Cooper got some exercise while we fed the ducks and strolled around. My sister and I couldn't resist playing on the swings for a bit before we left!

Here's what I wore:
Singlet: Oscar's Law pink ladies singlet (via  http://www.oscarslaw.org/)
Necklace: gift from DH
Bracelets: the usual
Shorts: Jeanswest denim shorts
Shoes: Balenciaga sorbet 2010 RGGH studded sandals
Bag: Balenciaga 2008 Sapphire RH city

I wore my pink Oscar's Law singlet as Cooper and I want Oscar's Law!

In Australia puppy farms (puppy mills or puppy factories) are legally allowed to exist and provide pet stores with puppies to sell, while over 200,000 animals are put down in shelters every year. (Source)
I dream of one day being able to proudly say that I come from a country where puppy farms are outlawed and the only animals in pet stores are shelter animals waiting to be adopted.

That's why I support Oscar's Law. (Plus Cooper looks so cute in his bandanna!)

Go for what DOES matter, and new laws to stop puppy farms in Queensland

Relaxing Sunday today, spent some time with DH and Cooper and of course will be volunteering at church online this evening.(http://live.lifechurch.tv/) Got a great message going too:
"Let go of what doesn't matter..cut back, throw out, turn off ...go for what DOES matter." (via LifeChurch on facebook )

Here's what I wore today:

Tee: Jeanswest (given to me by my awesome sister in one of her wardrobe clear-outs)
Bracelets: the usual
Shorts: Jeanswest
Shoes: Cotton On thongs
Bag: Chloe Paddington cross body clutch from David Jones

Closeup of the usual accessories:

And I read some great news this morning about new laws being proposed to stop puppy farms in Queensland. Just had to share. :) I'm a big supporter of Oscar's Law so these new laws make me very happy indeed.

Via the RSPCA Queensland Facebook page:
‎#ClosePuppyFactories - we're so close! in response to the 2010/11 Close Puppy Factory Petition and community reaction to the closepuppyfactories.rspcaqld.org.au campaign, the Queensland Government proactively announced a Breeder Identification Number (BIN) system. Have your say on the proposed new dog breeder standards in Queensland here:
http://www.getinvolved.qld.gov.au/gi/consultation/315/view.html

From the legislation page:

The proposed legislation introduces a system of registration targeting intensive dog breeders and introduces a system of inspections against animal welfare standards.
Other proposed measures include:
  • ways of assisting consumers to purchase puppies from registered breeders
  • the adoption of mandatory standards for all dog breeders; and
  • the expansion of existing dog micro-chipping requirements to improve animal welfare monitoring.

When you go to the link you can read the full proposed standard. The options get stricter and more effective as you go down the list, so option 3 and 4 are the toughest and investigation shows they would have the biggest impact on puppy farms. Full details are in the draft PDF statement on the website.

I was extremely excited to be able to have my say on the proposed laws. Hopefully if this is something you feel strongly about you can add your say as well.

Yum Cha, pancakes, Mulberry Lily, and Cooper gets a trim

Had such a nice day today. Cooper got a much needed grooming session in the morning and then we went out to lunch with DH's family to have yum cha to celebrate Chinese New Year in the afternoon.

After lunch we were lucky to see a dragon dance performance and then we stopped at Hotcake House for some yummy pancakes for desert.

Here's a shot of the pancakes being made:
They get cooked on the hot plates at the front and then stacked at the back when they are done. They have so many different fillings - I got to try the custard one and a chocolate one, delicious!

Here's what I wore today:

Dress: JeansWest
Necklace: Diva red stone necklace
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour, and red crystal and freshwater pearl ones made by a talented friend.
Shoes: Asos
Bag: Mulberry Metallic suede leopard Lily in Maroon. (Gift from my mum, obtained via the sourcing service from Sheree at My Little Boutique)

Such a great print on this dress! Tried to wear as much red as possible as it is tradition for Chinese New Year. I have a fun red dress set aside for work on Monday too as we will be celebrating then also.

I really like my Mulberry Lily bag - not just because it shares a name with my bestie - but because it has such a fun story behind how I got it. I saw it in a magazine and stalked it on Net-A-Porter until it sold out. Months later I found one second hand online but the sale fell through and I was sad I'd missed out on it. My Mum offered to get it for me instead as a birthday gift, and Sheree from  My Little Boutique was able to track down a brand new one at the Mulbery outlet for us. I'm blessed with the best friends and family.

Closeup of the red accessories:

Cooper is feeling much better after his bath and hair cut - he should find it a lot cooler now. I was very glad to read today that the Queensland government is proposing new laws to wipe out puppy farms. We want Oscar's Law!

Hope you had a great Saturday! Have you ever managed to get an item you thought was sold out before like I did with my red Lily?
