Weekday Wear Linkup: Two Ways To Wear A Grey Skater Dress

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm showing you two ways to wear a simple grey skater dress, taking it from work to a night out by changing the accessories.

This neutral grey dress is a great staple in my wardrobe and really should be worn more! I packed it for our Europe trip and it reminded me I should get it out more often.

What I wore:

Necklace: thrifted black and grey floral crystal statement necklace
Dress: Asos grey skater dress
Shoes:  Walnut Melbourne Ava white leopard ballet flats
Bracelets: the usual plus Marc by Marc Jacobs enamel turnlock stripey hinge black and white bangle
Bag: Balenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

Was feeling a bit uninspired with what to wear, knowing I had a busy day at work and then a night out in the evening. A dress is an easy outfit staple so I went with that, and this grey one is extremely comfortable. Kept it monochrome for a day in the office, wearing it with my black boucle jacket to dress up the casual tee fabric a little, the sparkly statement necklace worked well to do that too.

The big purple Balenciaga work bag adds a pop of colour. I find it so hard to do monochrome looks, I always sneak some colour in somewhere! I'm thrilled I got to wear the shoes again too, it's been a while since the last wearing and I've tried to wear them recently but the rainy forecast always made me change my mind, they were definitely overdue a wear and I'm pleased the weather cooperated this time!

And yes, I held the Balenciaga work bag backwards in every pic...obviously not properly awake that morning!

Why I wore it:

After the busy day at work I came home and quickly got changed to head out to dinner with some mum friends. I swapped the boucle blazer for this green floral duster. I love the bold burst of colour it adds to the neutral grey and I like the skater dress and duster combo - I've worn this skater dress with another duster before too.

The navy necklace and tassel earrings added more colour to the dress, and the tan boots are a neutral classic. It was a cooler spring evening and I was grateful I'd picked ankle boots to wear on the way home from the restaurant, kept me a little cosier. I didn't need to bring much as it was a kid-free dinner so wore my Amerii round straw cross body bag. Simple little outfit changes that had me ready and out the door quick enough to be on time for dinner, after giving the boys plenty of hugs!

I got ready so quickly I forgot to put on the bracelets I'd set aside, but I think the navy necklace and earrings were enough extra colour with the green kimono.

A comfortable skater dress in a neutral shade like this grey one is so easy to dress up or down. Try sticking to monochrome colours in the office with a classic blazer to dress it up a little, or make it more casual and colourful like I have in the second outfit with a bright duster and statement accessories.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Blue Printed Dresses and Balenciaga Bags In The Office

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup, I'm sharing two blue printed dresses I wore to the office recently with some silver giant hardware Balenciaga bags.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

This floral swing dress is such a great piece to wear on a hot day, but this is the first time I've worn it to the office. With the longer 3/4 lengths sleeves and the long knee length hem, I think it's a good option for a business casual office like mine. The swing style makes it a little more casual so I added a blazer on top to make it a bit more professional. Kept the accessories simple too with the black ballet flats and the black Balenciaga part time bag.

The floral crystal necklace is one I picked up in my opshop haul as a possible accessory to wear to a glitter themed fashion show. I ended up wearing a thrifted glitter tank instead and so have just being waiting for an opportunity to wear this necklace. Delicate crystals seem a bit over the top for the playground and pointy edges aren't the best around the boys. The office was the perfect place to wear it and it goes with the floral print on the dress nicely I thought.

Why I wore it:

Unlike the swing dress above, this paisley print sheath dress is a frequently seen piece in the office. It's a go-to for me and a wardrobe oldie.See the first time I shared it on the blog back in 2012!

I'd actually planned another outfit to wear on this day, but the heatwave temperatures made me change my mind and so I wore this simple sheath dress instead.  It was a foggy start to the morning as you can see behind me, but warmed up to a super hot spring day. Accessorised with another thrifted necklace, this big gunmetal one was another option I bought at the opshop for the event I didn't end up using, but it also looks great worn to the office.

The purple Balenciaga work bag is often worn with this dress, I like blue and purple together!

30 Ways To Wear: Navy Rebecca Minkoff Medium MAB Tote Bag

I really enjoy putting these 30 ways to wear posts together, it's a good way to look back at my outfits, gives me some inspiration for things to wear in future. I hope it inspires you too!

This month I'm sharing my beautiful navy blue Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote bag. Don't let the name fool you, this bag is quite large! (Although it does come in a smaller size that I also own, and an even larger size too!)

30 Ways To Wear: Rebecca Minkoff Medium MAB Tote Bag

I'm surprised it's taken me so long to put this post together! This bag is often worn to the office, it's a great tote for fitting anything and everything in and still looking classy when it sits on my desk. While I have tried it casually once, I much prefer keeping it as an office only bag, when the structured design works better with my outfits.

Cost Per Wear

I picked this up in the Rebecca Minkoff sale for $202.65 back in 2015. At 39 wears, it's still got a lot to go to hit the "$1 per wear" figure people aim for (currently at $5.19) but I can see myself using this for many years to come, it is such a timeless tote design. I do tend to use it for work, which is why I'm only just past 30 wears now, I had a 18 month maternity leave from 2016 to 2017 so I haven't been reaching for it all 4 years I've had it!

MAB Tote Bag with Monochromatic Blue Outfits

Blue is my favourite colour - I wear it to boost my mood and my confidence and also when I'm just having a great day and want to continue that happy feeling! I love a monochromatic blue outfit, and paired with this navy blue Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB bag, it creates an outfit I adore. I just need a blue pair of shoes now to go head-to-toe blue!

Navy Tote Bag with Black

If you haven't tried it, navy and black is a great colour combination! I think the two neutrals work so well together. A navy bag with a black outfit is a nice way to try the colour combination out on a smaller scale. You can go monochromatic black with a dress, a little bit of black with a pencil skirt, and even break up the colour a little with a bright scarf if you're unsure about just wearing the navy and black side by side.

Navy MAB Tote Bag With Pink

Another much loved colour combination of mine! I like pink and blue together, in any combination of shades. As you can see from these otufits, from a pastel pink blazer to a hot pink tee, the navy MAB tote bag works with every intensity of pink. If you just want to try the colour combination in a small way, and a pink dress with a navy bag like the fits outfit is too bold for you, you could always add a pink scarf to your outfit.

Matchy-matchy makes it so easy to pull an outfit together! When you're not sure what bag to wear you can just pick one that matches a colour in your outfit. It's a simple tip but it really helps an outfit feel more cohesive, even if it's just as simple as a navy scarf to match your bag.

Printed dresses are an office staple, they make getting ready for work so easy as you don't have to mix and match with a one and done outfit! As you can see in the pics, no matter the print or colour of the dress, this neutral navy tote works with them all.

Another staple work option for me, the classic pencil skirt. A big tote bag looks nice with a pencil skirt outfit, and works more formally with a blazer to dress up a more casual cardigan and skirt outfit. You can't go wrong with a structured tote and pencil skirt in the office!

Navy MAB Tote Bag With Print Mixing Office Outfits

It's nice to have a little fun with your outfit when you're wearing a neutral bag - you can be more adventurous with colour or prints. Even if you just add a little hint of print mixing to your outfit by adding a printed scarf on top of a different print, a neutral tote is a great complimentary accessory, as you don't have to worry about the big block colour clashing with any of the prints.

This is quite a large tote, and sometimes it can feel a little plain being a big neutral square. As you've seen in the outfits above, a bag charm is a cute addition to the bag to break up the colour a little, and in these outfits I've accessorised the bag by tying scarves around the handles. This works well on the way to the office when it's a hot summer day but you know you will need a scarf at your desk in the cold aircon! It's also a nice way to add another colour or print to your outfit.

Weekday Wear Linkup! Long Sleeve Blouses and Pencil Skirts For Spring

Trying a new colour scheme and an old favourite for today's Weekday Wear Linkup, with some pretty blouses and textured pencil skirts.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

I'd planned to wear this outfit the previous day I was in the office, but the crazy heatwave meant I changed up what I'd planned to wear then, and wore this on my other office day instead. I was glad to be able to wear this outfit at last!

Thought I'd try something a little different with the blush skirt and the berry blouse together. I really liked the colour combo, and decided to keep it simple with everything else, going without a necklace or statement earrings and just wearing black accessories. I thought the black ballet flats and Balenciaga part time bag matched the fuzzy polka dots on the skirt nicely.

Why I wore it:

Unlike the first outfit, this is a colour combo I often wear. This blue lace skirt looks great paired with other blue pieces and when I saw this blouse in the Target clearance sale I thought of wearing it with this skirt right away. Instead of a necklace I wore my Kmart gold and mustard tassel earrings, to match the gold mouse flats. The Rebecca Minkoff navy Regan bag matched the navy top and lace skirt well too.

The only downside with this outfit is that the blouse looked a bit too voluminous with the half tuck. Think I need to try tuck it all in next time. It's an awesome relaxed trapeze cut but it made tucking into this high waisted skirt a little tricky!

Weekday Wear Linkup! Navy Blouses and Colourful Pants Business Casual For Spring

I love a good outfit formula, so for today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm sharing two very similar outfits I recently worn to work with colourful pants and classic navy blouses and my slouchy Balenciaga Part Time bag.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

First wearing of this new navy blouse I picked up in the Target clearance sales! In the last days of the sales things are often reduced to $5, so when I needed a break from the office one lunch time I headed to target in the city to browse the sale. I got this great blouse reduced from $39 to $20 and then the extra 50% off made it $10, not a bad deal! I tried on a few other things but this was the only one that worked. The statement necklace was another new purchase and impulse buy, just $3 from the opshop! September was a month of impulse buying for me.

It's not the first time I've worn these burgundy pants with navy tops, it is a frequent go-to combo! I kept the rest of the accessories simple, with the silver ballet flats, black Balenciaga Part Time bag and metallic necklace, to let the colours be the star of the outfit.

The only thing I did notice with this blouse is that the collar on the back pulls it down quite a bit with the extra weight - as it's a flowy swing style it's not fitted enough to stay in place. I'll need to try tuck it in next time I wear it! It was nice and comfortable for work, and I like the cute piping detail along the sides of the sleeves, even if I did forget to get a good pic of it as I was so busy giving our little doggy guest some pats! She's squeezing in all the pats she can while being dog sat by us before she returns to her family.

Why I wore it:

Unlike the first navy blouse, this one is an oldie. I picked it up on sale last year and it's been the best addition to my wardrobe. I like the studded detail for a little extra interest, and the tie at the neckline means that I didn't need to add a necklace with this. I did add my teal earrings though for a little extra colour. With the navy blouse, olive pants and teal earrings I kept the accessories simple again, going with my fave black ballet flats and my Balenciaga Part Time bag.

Just like the outfit above, these olive pants have been worn with navy before, even though it's surprisingly the first time I've worn this blouse and jeans together before. Got to love a business casual environment where people can wear jeans through the week - these olive ones look deceptively like standard pants but have all the comfort of jeans! They are so good at doing double duty for work and SAHM days.

My nails are OPI a good man-darin is hard to find, just like in the outfit above. I felt like getting this bright colour out again for spring.

Weekday Wear Linkup: Two Ways To Wear Kmart Teal Floral Boho Midi Dress

Two ways to wear this beautiful Kmart teal floral print midi dress I picked up on clearance for just $12! A little bit different for today's Weekday Wear Linkup, only one of these outfits was worn during the week, the other on the weekend. Thought it would be interesting to show the different ways I've styled this dress for a weekday in the office and for a kid's birthday party on the weekend.

What I wore:

Why I wore it:

I bought this dress on impulse, but when I got it home I thought it may work for the office with the modest length and neckline. It's a little more boho than I'd usually wear to work, but I think the black blazer looked perfect with it and I got so many compliments on this in the office! I was so happy to share it was only $12 at Kmart too, haha!

To keep things simple I went with my trusty black ballet flats to wear with the black jersey blazer. These flats have been worn over 100 times and are still going strong!

To try formalise the dress a little more I added this big Rebecca Minkoff medium MAB tote bag, it's great for the office with the structured shape. I liked the navy with the teal dress too!

Why I wore it:

A very different way to wear this dress! I actually wore this just a few days after the outfit above. I was that eager to wear the dress again, with a 5th birthday party to attend I knew it would be perfect. I wanted the longer sleeves for sun coverage, and the longer length was great for sitting on the floor with the kids as they enjoyed the party food. I did feel that the sunhat and the dress may have been a little too dressy for a backyard birthday party but it was the sunhat or borrowing one of my husband's baseball caps and the sunhat looked a lot better!

As it was a hot day I went with simple gold sandals, and then added a little extra colour to the teal outfit with the red Rebecca Minkoff micro Avery bag. It was such a well-organised party, the boys and I had a great time. I was so glad I'd worn the hat too, we ended up sitting in the sun and making the most of the beautiful day before the storm blew in.
