What I Bought:
- Rebecca Minkoff chevron quilted small Love crossbody bag in pale coral
-
Thrifted SES fashion mustard marle knit
- Thrifted navy stripe Coca-Cola logo tee
- (Red and navy cardigans in the video bought last month)
A month of impulse buys, after last minute browsing of the Rebecca Minkoff sale and just popping into the opshop for a quick look both resulted in buying things.
While I'm a little annoyed that the handbag I bought didn't arrive the same month I bought it, and it wasn't the colour I expected, I absolutely adore it. It was a bargain too, at 50% off! I'll upload a proper review of it on my YouTube channel at some point, but for now I'll just say I love it and I've enjoyed every time I've worn it.
I had been looking at the new Jeanswest winter collection and admiring the yellow knits when I saw this one in the opshop and for just $1 I quickly forgot all about the Jeanswest ones I'd been looking at! While it would be too thin a knit for winter in most other places, it will be perfect for Brisbane. When it gets really cold, I plan to layer a long sleeve tee underneath, which I've done in the past with my open knits to make them more winter appropriate.
The Coca-Cola tee caught my eye to add to my collection of Coca-Cola things. I have so many glass bottles, as well as towels, balls, badges, toy cars, even a Coca-Cola cookbook! While I don't drink it so much now, I still smiled when I saw this tee and just had to snap it up for just $1. I also feel like I've seen something similar in stores lately, with the recent rise in logo tees it's perfectly on trend.

How I Wore It:
I had no troubles finding and thinking of different ways to wear the pieces I got this month - which is a sign that they will hopefully be good additions to my wardrobe. They seem to be so far.
Every month I set myself a goal of wearing everything I buy at least twice in the same month I buy it, to make sure I'm buying pieces I want to wear immediately and can easily think of different ways to wear. As you can see from the pics above, everything was happily worn twice or more.
I'm giving myself a little bit of grace with the Rebecca Minkoff Love bag, as it didn't arrive until a month after I ordered it. I did wear it 3 times in the month after it finally arrived though, so still counting it as meeting my goal.
June is usually a big spending month for me as it's a change of season and I want to stock up on all the fun winter pieces in store. I'm pleased I haven't done much of that and only bought a handful of pieces this year. I'm really focusing on rewearing more of what I already own.
I've definitely spent more in the first six months of 2018 than I did in 2017 though, only because I did 6 months without shopping in the first half of 2017. I'm still less than half way under my total spend from last year so I'm hoping I can stick to that and spend less overall this year than I did last year. Fingers crossed!
I'll be attempting #noBuyJuly18 (just like I've done in previous years) so there shouldn't be any purchases next month to report. Feel free to join me if you want to forgo fashion spending for a month! My tips for surviving 6 months without shopping might come in helpful!
And finally, I was the Featured Fashionista over at Have Clothes, Will Travel so go check it out! You'll find out a little more about me and why I blog.

Lovely haul! Really enjoyed the video. The bag looks really lovely, I agree it is on the orange side but it would still glam up any outfit!

It is a great colour, even if not what I expected!
DeleteLove your Coca Cola T-shirt :) Great bag too, perfect colour. Thanks so much for sharing your post with us at Welcome To The Weekend Blog Hop. Have a great weekend and we hope to see you soon. #Weekendbloghop
ReplyDeleteYou got some great items this month! The Coca Cola tee is a really fun one and I love that it is striped! Your new bag is really cute too!
ReplyDeleteIt is so fun! I'm looking forward to wearing it more!
DeleteI love that you have such thoughtful rules about your purchases! Glad the bag worked out (what a great price!!) despite it not being exactly what you expected. That happens to me a lot too!

Yes it can be tricky ordering online when you haven't seen it before!
DeleteIt's so fun to update our closets this way, Mica!! Especially when you get such great deals on things!!
ReplyDeleteThat coco cola t-shirt is like 2 in one---it's stripes and a graphic tee---how perfect!!

It is such a fun tee! :)

hehe yes, it's a strange thing to collect really! :)
DeleteYou got some fun piece this month. Awesome deal on the t-shirt and sweater. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amysfashionblog.com/blog-home/
I love the color of that bag, but it's kind of a bummer when you buy something and the color is different from what you were expecting. I think my favorite thing here though is that $1 yellow sweater--what an awesome find!
ReplyDeleteIt was an awesome find! It's hard buying things online and not knowing the true colour, but this worked out well!
DeleteYou got some great things this month! That Coca Cola tee is so cute, and I actually love the color of the RM bag!

It is a beautiful colour, even if I wasn't expecting it! :)
DeleteYou got such a great deal on the RM crossbody! I'm always hesitant to place overseas orders because of the long wait for shipping. I usually tend to shop a little more when the seasons change. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes it can be a pain waiting so long for something, I'm going to rethink where I order in future.
DeleteYou got some fun things! I always love Rebecca Minkoff. The sale sounds like it was great.

The awesome Rebecca Minkoff sales are why I have so many of them, ha!
DeleteHi Mica
ReplyDeleteYou really like those Rebecca Minkoff bags.
woww how many times you wore that clothes what you bought this month, it was good shopping !!
I also love the Coca Cola stuff, I have a collection of limited edition cans, and I love your tee, I'm sure you'll wear it many times !!!

Yes, they are definitely good additions to my wardrobe! :)
DeleteWhat a great haul! You've found some fun things. I love the Coco Cola tee too. :) And that's so cool you are doing no buy July!
ReplyDeleteYes it's becoming a yearly tradition now, ha!
DeleteYou always score some good things in your haul girlll. And all these outfits are wonderful. I'm drooling over your bags. WOW!! So chic!!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend with the fam. :-)

I love everything you bought. It is all super cute.

I like the logo tee (even though I rarely wear any logos), and the bag is a really great peachy colour. I can't view the video (am at work, shhhh), but I love the look on your face in the still shot!
ReplyDeleteI'm throwing a ginormous clothing giveaway in a week - it's a good opportunity to review my closet for those bad items!
Have a lovely weekend, Mica!
hehe thank you Sheila! You always do so well with your giveaways and clearouts, I need to be better at downsizing my wardrobe!
Deletegood job getting your winter stuff from two boxes to one! Always so hard. I hate having to box things up, especially when I feel like I'll be switching the closet again before I know it. Love the new bag, the color is really pretty!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.iamchiconthecheap.com/
Yes I'd love a bigger wardrobe so I don't have to box things away, but at the moment I can only share with hubby so it limits me to boxing things away when I don't need them anymore!
DeleteWhat great buys!! In lo e with your new RM bag, the color is gorgeous!

The rule of wearing everything you buy at least twice in a month sounds great to me. Wearing the things we buy as soon as we can is a nice strategy as well as it help us not to forget about them. I think it is wonderful that you're always thinking of ways of including items in your wardrobe. You're really good with styling pieces in different ways, shopping your closet and combining the old with the new. Lovely June haul!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ivana! I've really noticed a difference since I implemented the rule! :)
DeleteI am so glad I found your blog. You never cease to inspire me! Love all your great deals! I also like that you purposefully wear things a few times within the first month of buying them. So often I buy things at the end of the season and put them away until the next season rolls around. Then I forget I have them. Yikes! Thanks for sharing all your good tips. - Amu
ReplyDeletehttp://stylingrannymama.com/
Thanks so much Amy! I'm glad I could inspire you. I used to buy things like that but realised when I got to wear them they weren't as useful as I expected...so wearing it right away helps eliminate that!
DeleteOhh I love the Coca-cola tee and your coral handbag. Such great and useful purchases for this season.
ReplyDeleteOhh going a month without buying anything would be tough as I love shopping way too much LOL!
www.fashionradi.com
haha yes, I've done 7 months without shopping before, it's possible!
DeleteThat coral love handbag is so pretty and for 50% off that's a bargain!! I have been eyeing those love bags but haven't quite decided if I will bite the bullet or not! You have such an awesome handbag collection!
ReplyDeleteMaureen | www.littlemisscasual.com
It was such a good deal! Definitely keep an eye out on the sales, you can get lots of love bags there!
DeleteGreat haul, Mica:) I love how you wore these pieces you got. That RM bag is such score and what a lovely colour:) And I can't believe you got these thrifted items for a dollar each!??! Wut?!?!? Also, how awesome that you can wear those cardis in different ways. I like that they do make a good cover up if you're breast-feeding.
ReplyDeletehaha yes, my local thrift shop is the best! They have a fill a bag for $2 sale often too, I'm hanging out for the next one!
DeleteLove how you treated yourself to a little shopping spree. You got all of these nice goodies for such a good deal. Oh man, $1 is a STEAL! Glad you're enjoying all of the things you've bought! :) Oh man, June is a big spending month for me as well. Good luck with no buy July!

Ooh I love watching your videos Mica! And I always feel like I love your ethos of making sure you actually make use of what you've brought. I've certainly been guilty of buying and it never coming out of the wardrobe again! The bag is gorgeous and I'm glad you still liked it, especially as it didn't come as you initially expected!

Those cardigans are so cool! I love how versatile they are with the buttons! Both colours are amazing for winter too. The red one totally gives me snow vibes though, if only we had a white Christmas here in Australia haha The navy one could work for so many outfits. Loved the video.

DeleteI definitely bought a fair bit in June so I will be joining you in #nobuyjuly18 with aplomb!
ReplyDeleteThe colour on the RM bag is just gorgeous - it's really unusual in a good way and not very common too. It also seems to be a really versatile colour despite it too.
It's so cold in Sydney right so no thin knits here - multiple layers all the way, haha! Hope you had a lovely weekend - have finally emerged from that wacky gastro bug last week :P
Eileen | 5feetofstyle.com
Good luck with no buy July! :) We are lucky we don't have to layer too much here in Brisbane, it's been a pretty warm winter so far with just a few cold days. It's supposed to get colder now though!
DeleteI just love the RM bag!

Wow, some really lovely purchases here hun, and some really good bargains! Can't believe that the tee was under one dollar, it looks fab! Really loving all the colourful scarfs, as well, perfect and cosy for winter. <3 I too am on a no buy for the next couple of months, trying to save up for some events coming up.
