In the end I only kept 3 of the things I'd ordered and returned another 3 so I'm quite pleased I didn't buy too much this month. Definitely going to be doing No Buy July again this year though! No clothes or accessories purchases for the next month. I didn't quite achieve it last year, hopefully I can do better this year! Here's what I bought before starting #NoBuyJuly16.
What I bought in June:
- Atmos & Here Avery marle tee in navy
- Dorothy Perkins 3/4 sleeve wrap top
- Noisy May long denim maxi skirt
- Sass & Bide Playman skinny jeans
How I wore my purchases:
I have a goal of wearing things twice in a month after buying them. By setting myself this goal I'm making sure I'm only buying things I'll actually use now, and not just store in my wardrobe with the tags on. My wardrobe is full enough already! I'm trying to make sure I buy versatile pieces I can wear a few different ways too. I've started a Ways to Wear series to show the different ways I've been wearing what I bought. Really pleased I managed to wear everything twice this month!
Since we are halfway through the year already, I thought I'd do a tally on my spending so far. (I got this idea from Beth too, it's not just shopping inspiration she gives me!) I've spent a total of $1,510.77 which averages $251.80 a month. Most months, like this month, I'm well under that total. Considering I've bought 3 handbags this year I'm surprised the total is relatively low, but I'm hoping that for the second half of the year I can spend even less.

I like the idea of keeping track of your spending total!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great idea, I'm interested to see what it's like at the end of the year!
DeleteI love that maxi skirt you found, it's so pretty! That wrap top is cute too. You found some good stuff this month. Good luck with No Buy July!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hoping I do better than last year :)
DeleteI always like your little videos. I've actually not bought much fashion clothing this month at all. I usually do a tally during the year of my purchases as well. Since we are about to revamp our living room, I have been more into buying furnishings, and grabbing samples. Considering your bag purchases, I think you did pretty alright. :)

Oh man! I would be afraid to tally my yearly total! You're a brave soul :) Loved your purchases and subscribed! I have a YouTube channel now too (Lauren-Blair Donovan). XO

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!
DeleteOoo... You found some fantastic things! Good luck in July! <3
ReplyDeleteThis is the first video that I watched from you and it's lovely to hear your speak. I thought you would have a very thick Aussie accent but surprisingly you don't. I adore Dorothy Perkins and used to purchase a lot form the brand. They are pricey in Malaysia though.

I was lucky to score the top on sale! :)
DeleteThat maxi skirt is so cute! Good luck with your No Buy July. I've never tried not buying anything for a month. I think it would be so hard!
ReplyDeleteIt is possible, I've done it before, but July is especially tricky with the sales!
DeleteSometimes retail therapy is just what a girl needs. ;) All the outfits look so pretty on you and I can really see that you love the color blue. I'm a new reader and love your blog!

It is a great idea to keep track of your expenses that way. I should probably do that for my makeup as well. And good luck with NoBuyJuly! That is always harder than it sounds.

It would be interesting to see, if you did it for makeup :)
DeleteI see that you are in your blue period :) I bought a lot of blue clothing too lately. I think it's such a nice colour for summer!

The maxi skirt is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of averaging your spending during the year to get a more realistic picture of how much you spend. I'm also curious to look back at last year's budget posts and see how many items I don't wear anymore. That would be an eye-opener!

That would be an interesting exercise for sure!
DeleteThe denim maxi skirt is just so lovely! Xx

I really like the goal of wearing your new items twice a month. It is so smart! I actually just started doing a similar thing too. However, before I buy I think of at least 2 different outfit I can wear it with before I make the purchase. This reassures me that I will wear it multiple times and it is versatile!
ReplyDeletewww.rdsobsessions.com
Yes thinking of two ways to wear something has really helped me buy things that will get worn a lot!
DeleteLove the pieces you got, and I think wearing things twice in a month is a great idea. I'd say I generally do that.

I've never tried a no buy but I saw a "low buy" post on reddit the other day and I want to try it out. Good luck with your July no buy!
ReplyDeleteI love those printed Sass & Bide jeans you got :)

Oh low buy is a great idea too! Good luck with it!
DeleteI had not thought of wearing the Missoni dress, the scarf and the bag together ;)
ReplyDeleteThe idea of wearing it right a way is really appealing and at sometime I did do it... however lately I am just drifting...
I hope you can wear them all together, it would look great! And help you with your "wear right away" goal!
DeleteI have an urge to get more scarves now since seeing your post haha. These are all lovely outfits for everyday <3

It's always awesome when a piece you've had your eye on for awhile finally goes on sale and you get it. That skirt looks very classic and versatile and you'll probably be getting so much wear out of after you have it altered. I did a no buy for awhile after cleaning out my closet and discovering a number of items that I had totally forgotten about.
ReplyDeleteYes a n buy month now and then is a great idea to help make a clear out easier! :)
DeleteWowwwww I am impressed with your monthly spending total!!!!!!!! You've done pretty good, girl! Loved watching that video, too!!

SO glad you got that denim maxi, it was made for you, the ways you have rocked it already are ace!! You are brave going for No Buy July again. I almost achieved No Buy June!
ReplyDeleteIt was the best purchase, thanks for the inspiration! :)
DeleteI love the blues trending in your haul!

Thank you all for your kind comments :)
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking of your "wear two times in the month you buy it" rule! For some reason, I don't always wear things when I buy them. Sometimes, I'm super excited and wear the new item the next day, but most of the time I don't, haha! I need to figure out what my equivalent of that rule is then! (Or what is keeping me from wearing my new purchases more!) I also liked your little video! You've probably done them before and I missed the boat somehow!
ReplyDeleteI do the videos now and then when I get the chance with the boys!
DeleteHope you can find a rule that works for you :)
Great purchases! I really love that maxi skirt. And what a fabulous idea to make sure you are buying things you will actually wear. I am guilty of overstuffing my closet with things that never get worn. I will have to try your technique. Thanks for the inspiration.
