Postpartum Style: Babywearing Outfits

With two under 2, adjusting to life outside the hospital has been tricky. Walking is as good an exercise postpartum as it was in pregnancy, so we try get out of the house at least once a day to walk Cooper. His little legs appreciate the stretch, even if we don't achieve it every day.

I thought I'd share two of my simple baby wearing outfits with you, for a slow and small walk around the neighbourhood with the boys. No accessories, messy mum-bun and a very tired makeup-free face, but it's nice to document the unpolished side of life, and celebrate being able to get out of the house!

What I wore:

Singlet: Best & Less blue stripe breastfeeding singlet
Shorts: Cotton On blue denim shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs

Why I wore it:

This was actually what I wore for my first solo outing with all the boys. We didn't manage to complete our usual long walk, but we did get out the house and entertained Cooper and Toddler T for a while so I counted it a success.

Despite being April and autumn in Queensland, Brisbane was still pretty warm. I'd assumed with an autumn baby that I'd be dressing for autumn temperatures post baby, and packed away all my shorts thinking I wouldn't need them for a while! I haven't been able to find all of them, but did find this pair and it was nice to wear something non-maternity for a change.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, breastfeeding singlet, denim shorts, Havaianas.

Other ways to wearbreastfeeding singlet and newborn baby T, denim shorts and a striped tunic.

What I wore:

SunglassesRay-Ban new Wayfarers
CarrierErgobaby original carrier
Singlet: Best & Less blue stripe breastfeeding singlet
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs

Why I wore it:

Another family walk around the neighbourhood. While I'm wearing the same nursing top as I did a few days before (above), I wore a maxi skirt instead of denim shorts. Comfortable, simple and easy to wear outfits like this are ideal for babywearing. I prefer to avoid anything with buttons or zips when I have a baby strapped to me.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer (above), blue breastfeeding singlet (above), black maxi skirt, Havaianas (above).

Other ways to wearbreastfeeding singlet and skinny jeans, black maxi skirt and kimono with a baby bump.

  10. The great thing about wearing the baby is that you don't have to worry about spit on the top, nobody is going to see it anyway...

  12. How cute are you guys?! I love that despite being run down and feeling tired, you still make it a priority for your family to get some fresh air. That's some awesome mom status right there! I love how practical these are. There's literally nothing better than seeing a personal fashion blog appreciate the practical and real side of getting dressed!

    1. hehe it's for everyone's benefit! Does me good to see the sunshine, lets the toddler burn off some energy and helps baby learn day from night. And of course gives Cooper his exercise! :)

  20. Mica, you look positively fresh! Definitely agree on the value of getting out and about, and I love me a good walk. Do you find you get too hot with the baby strapped to you?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's actually not too hot at all! I tend to wear less than I would if I wasn't babywearing, but he's so small he doesn't overheat me. I've babyworn in summer when toddler T was younger too, although I don't do it for too long in the heat of the day.
