Non-Maternity Maxi Dresses in the Second Trimester and Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAC

Unlike a lot of my regular non-maternity tops that I'm quickly growing out of this pregnancy, my non-maternity maxi dresses are still easily and comfortably accommodating the second trimester bump.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Family Santa Photos Outfit Second Trimester Jeanswest 'Sierra' embellished black maxi dress silver accessories

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC Balenciaga double wrap bracelet pearly grey
DressJeanswest 'Sierra' embellished black maxi dress (on sale!)
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga classic double tour bracelet in pearly grey
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC (on sale in purple!!)

Why I wore it:

This was such a pretty dress for such a bad morning! I've mentioned before I try keep this blog a positive, light hearted space, but that doesn't mean all my days go according to plan. The day doesn't always match up with the plans I have when I'm picking out what to wear. We were up early to have our traditional family Christmas card photos done. By the end of the morning, I was covered in pee, the baby bag was covered in pee (turns out Cooper likes to pee on bags when he's nervous!) and we were on our way home with the wrong photos.

Of course, the day improved. Things are never as bad as they seem. We were able to go back out and get the photos fixed, the baby bag is machine washable, and I had the chance to try my Louis Vuitton neverfull as a baby bag in the interim. I don't recommend it! I carry so much in the baby bag and the weight in the neverfull meant the straps dug into my shoulder. I guess if you carry less it would work.

Other ways to wearembellished maxi dress and cardigan, ASOS leather sandals and skinny jeans, mini MAC and a printed tee dress.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Second Trimester Birthday Dinner Outfit Jeanswest Heather textured maxi dress in eggshell

AwayFromTheBlue| Balenciaga coated stud wrap bracelet icy blue RM mini mac metallic silver accessories
ShoesIkwetta 'Circles of life' sandals (C/O)
Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga coated stud wrap bracelet in icy blue
BagRebecca Minkoff metallic silver mini MAC (on sale with black hardware!)

Why I wore it:

I'm cheating a little here. This isn't actually what I wore all day, just what I wore out to a birthday dinner in the evening. We spent the morning in the pool cooling off after Brisbane had a little taste of the heatwave that had covered the eastern parts of Australia. It was nice to get a little dressed up in the evening, the best part being that this dress doesn't really need any extra accessorising!

Last worn: blue maxi dress, Ikwetta sandals, Rebecca Minkoff metallic mini MAC (above).

Other ways to wearblue maxi dress for a day on the coast, Ikwetta sandals and skinny jeans, Rebecca Minkoff metallic mini MAC and plaid.

  2. Too bad about your day earlier, but glad that it did improve. I think we all have days like that, some better than others. Your maxi dresses are nice here, and I love the colour of the powder blue one with the metallic bag.

  6. You look absolutely stunning in those maxi dresses, Mica! I'm also loving that silver Rebecca Minkoff purse and your silver accessories, they bring out your skin tone beautifully, you look luminous! But, I'm sure it's also due to that pregnancy glow, too :)

I hope you have a wonderful weekend :)

  7. That does sound like a really rough morning! But I suppose at the end of the day it's only pee... could be worse! Glad it all worked out in the end and you got to enjoy a swim during a heatwave - what could be better than that?!

  9. I heard Neverfulls KILL when you put too much in them. It's those itty bitty straps. (; I loathe my diaper bag. Sadly you're about to need more than the usual, so I'd totally look into investing in a really nice sturdy bag. I know next time around I will be spending a pretty penny on something that will last. Can you believe we are on our 4th diaper bag since having Pen?! They just aren't made to last I guess. I hope you and the family stay cool this weekend! (:

    1. I'm thankful I splurged on my Marc Jacobs one - even though I'd gone almost a year and a half without having to wash it, that feature came in handy!

I'd never overfilled my nervefull before, it is painful with those tiny straps! Only needed it for the rest of the day though, then my shoulder could have a rest haha.

  13. Maxi dresses are so versatile. I wish I had more of them myself but I'm short and most of them fall too long on me, unfortunately. It's great when you still have items in the wardrobe that you can fit into, particularly in that interim period before needing full-blown maternity clothing.

    1. I'm petite too! I either get them tailored or buy from places (like Asos and Jeanswest) that make them in a shorter length. Love my maxis, and I'm sure my tailor loves me even more for buying them, haha!

  17. Sounds like you had a stressful morning, but I'm glad it got better! Poor Cooper, he felt so ashamed he didn't even make an appearance in the photos this time! And by the way, you look STUNNING in both of these dresses. I'm not sure which one I like better, but I agree with Ela - the blue one really brings out your eye colour. :) <3
