Weekday Wear Linkup! Floral Dresses and Mulberry Heritage Bayswater

For today's Weekday Wear Linkup I'm wearing two floral dresses to the office - a new one I only bought a few weeks ago and an old favourite that's been in my wardrobe so long I have no idea when I purchased it! I accessorised with my classic Mulberry heritage Bayswater tote and some fun scarves I tied differently each time.

What I wore:

Kmart teal floral print midi dress with scarf in hair, heels and Mulberry bayswater tote bag | awayfromblue

teal floral dress with Mulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather | awayfromblue

NecklaceHouse of Harlow Dynamic necklace in gold
Dress:  Kmart teal floral print midi dress
ShoesWittner 'Mimi' heels in mushroom
BagMulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather (cheaper second hand)

Why I wore it:

I feel I'm wearing this dress a lot! I picked up on clearance at Kmart for just $12 back in September and I've worn it 4 times, which is an average of once a month, but it feels like I'm heavily repeating it!

Last time I wore this dress to the office I dressed it up a little with a blazer. This time around I added a pair of heels and a cute little coach skinny scarf tied as a bow in my hair. It was for Melbourne Cup Day back in November. In Brisbane we don't have a holiday for the horse race like they do in Victoria, but we do usually have a big event and the race on the TV. I thought this floral dress was perfect and the little scarf in my hair a nice nod to cup day. Chatted to my boss's boss in the office kitchen while we were putting our breakfasts together, he said "I knew we could count on you to dress up for the cup day" and everyone in the office seemed to like my outfit! I kept proudly telling people just as I did last time that this dress was just $12 at Kmart!

Even though we ended up stuck in a big meeting and missed the cup day celebrations I did like this outfit and I'm pleased I gave the scarf a go. I wasn't too sure at first if the blue print on the scarf would be too much with the teal floral print of the dress, but I think they were far enough apart that the outfit really worked!

Last worn: teal floral midi dress, Coach skinny scarf, gold necklace, brown heels, Mulberry heritage Bayswater.

Other ways to wearteal floral midi dress worn two ways, Coach skinny scarf on a bag, brown heels and pencil skirt, Mulberry heritage Bayswater and little black dress.

Perfect for pregnancyMulberry heritage Bayswater in third trimester.

Wear and Tear: Mulberry Heritage Bayswater

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs logo plaque flats in camel
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes twilly Kelly en Calèche tied as bracelet
BagMulberry Bayswater in Oak NVT leather (cheaper second hand)

Why I wore it:

Another floral dress! Unlike the one in the first outfit, this is a wardrobe oldie from Jeanswest and I can't remember when I bought it exactly, or what I paid for it. I do remember wearing it to my first office job though, before I was with my current company, and I've been with my current company over 10 years. I think a wrap dress is a good one to have in your wardrobe as it accommodates weight fluctuations (and baby bumps!) nicely by wrapping a little tighter or looser. I also add a tank under for modesty now as things are a little different in the chest region after pregnancy and breastfeeding two kids!

Surprisingly, this is the first time I've worn this yellow statement necklace with the dress! It adds a nice pop of colour with the black and white print, especially with the neutral grey tank and tan accessories. I added a scarf to this outfit too, my little grey Hermes twilly. Which really deserves to get worn more! I did think about tying it on the Mulberry Bayswater bag instead, but thought it looked nice on my wrist.

Last worn: black floral wrap dress, grey tank, yellow statement necklace, Hermes twilly, tan flats, mulberry heritage Bayswater tote (above).

How You Can Wear It:

A floral dress is so prefect for spring and works well in the office too! You can formalise your outfit a little with heels and a classic tote, or stick with a staple office wear silhouette and go with a wrap dress like I have in the second outfit.

Black Dresses For The Office With Pink Scarves and Rebecca Minkoff Darren Messenger Bag

You can add scarves to warm weather outfits by thinking a little differently about how you wear them. While these two scarves are very different, they are both pretty shades of pink and work so nicely with these little black dresses for the office. I continued the pink theme with my peony Rebecca Minkoff Darren messenger bag.

What I wore:

Hermes twilly scarf worn in hair as headband hairbow with black lace dress and pastel pink bag | awayfromblue

black lace dress, silver bracelet stack and Rebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony | awayfromtheblue

NecklaceHouse of Harlow 5 station necklace in black and silver
DressJeanswest 'Gisele' contrast lace dress
ShoesWalnut Melbourne 'Ava' black lizard ballet flats (also available in silver)
BagRebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony

Why I wore it:

It was Melbourne Cup day so once again I broke out my Hermes twilly to tie around my hair like a headband. I did the same thing last year! This year we weren't having a big lunch like we usually do, just a few snacks to watch the race. I was stuck working on an urgent issue and missed the race and the snacks.

I wanted to feel a little more dressed up than usual for the occasion - you see so many people wearing the prettiest dresses around the office and in Brisbane on race day. This little black lace dress which sometimes seems too dressy for work was the perfect piece to wear. I really liked the way the peony pink Darren bag worked with the lace on the dress too. Was good to give this dress another wear, it's one of the little worn pieces in my wardrobe, last worn a year ago!

Last worn: black lace dress, Hermes twilly, House of Harlow necklace, Walnut Melbourne flats, Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag.

Other ways to wearblack lace dress for a night out, Hermes twilly worn two ways, Walnut Melbourne flats and pencil skirt, Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag with stripes.

NecklaceEye Candy LA 'Sasha' statement necklace
DressJeanswest tucked ponte black dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagRebecca Minkoff small Darren messenger bag in peony

Why I wore it:

Unlike the lace dress above, this classic fit and flare dress is frequently worn to the office. It's the perfect style and length and always looks good! Sometimes I like to wear a belt with it. I decided to try something a little different with my leaf print scarf and tied it as a belt around my waist. I folded the scarf over a few times, wrapped it around, and then tucked the ends back into the scarf at the back. As the dress is a thick ribbed ponte fabric, it held in place perfectly through the day.

While I think the scarf and the small Darren bag added a great touch of colour with the dress, I couldn't resist adding just a little more with this statement necklace. The colours really popped against the black, and I was feeling very confident and happy with my outfit when I stepped out of the house. Only to quickly realise on my way to work that a braided hairstyle and this crystal necklace don't work so well together. The necklace kept getting caught rather painfully in my braid through the day! Will definitely be wearing this necklace and dress together again in future, but maybe not with my hair tied so close to it 😂

Last worn: black fit and flare dress, leaf print scarf, statement crystal necklace, silver ballet flats, Rebecca Minkoff Darren bag (above).

Black Dresses Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

A little black dress is a frequently recommended style staple. It is a classic piece to have for work. It's easy to change it up a little each time you wear it with different accessories, and to add a touch of colour. You can stick with a colourful bag like I have here, or try something a little different and add a scarf as well. You can drape a scarf over your neck or try an alternative way to wear it, like as a headband or wrapped around your waist like a belt.

Hermes Twilly Scarf Worn 2 Ways With Fit and Flare Dresses For Work

One of the benefits of being a working mum is having the day in the office to wear pieces that wouldn't be a wise idea to wear at home with two toddlers. This Hermes silk twilly scarf is dry-clean only so not a good option for a stay at home mum day. Perfect for the office though, where the chances of a grown up smushing their banana into your outfit is a lot lower!

What I wore:

hermes twilly scarf as hairbow headband statement necklace black fit and flare dress | away from blue

Balenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag | away from the blue

NecklaceJeanswest Taki necklace (C/O)
DressJeanswest tucked ponte black dress
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs silver tuxedo flats
BagBalenciaga raisin purple 2009 giant silver G21 hardware work bag

Why I wore it:

I wore this for Melbourne Cup day in the office. It's the 'race that stops Australia' and it means that at some point in the afternoon everyone stops work to watch the horse race. Victorians even have the day off for it! Up in Queensland, we settled for a free lunch, some office sweeps and a little distraction in the middle of the work day.

In the past there have been best dressed or best hat competitions in the office, but the celebrations this year were a lot more subdued. Lunch was drastically under catered (luckily I brought my own as a back up) and no prizes or awards. I did get into the spirit and wear my Hermes Twilly scarf as a headband though, a subtle nod to Race Day fashion! Every time I wear scarves in my hair like this I get so many compliments - I felt pretty good about this outfit all day.

I was a little late to work that morning because of the twilly though! The day before I'd thought of the twilly and gave it a try, tying it in a perfect bow on my head first go. So of course in the morning rushing to work I assumed it would be just as easy. It wasn't, and I got to work 15 minutes later than normal! Luckily I start 30 minutes early every day.

Last worn: Hermes twilly, black fit and flare dress, silver ballet flats, purple Balenciaga work bag.

Other ways to wearHermes twilly and jeans, black fit and flare dress in winter, silver ballet flats and skinny jeans, purple Balenciaga work bag and blue dress.

Why I wore it:

Another day in the office, another fit and flare dress. Had to get this one out again after loving wearing the black one above. Rather than wearing my twilly scarf in my hair again I wrapped it (a little sloppily) around my wrist. I like wearing my twillies like this, but I so rarely do as it's definitely not a good idea when you're around toddlers - would get much too dirty there. Still was nice to wear it like that for a day in the office.

I liked the statement necklace and fit and flare dress outfit combo above, so added this pretty neon statement necklace with the striped dress. I've worn these two pieces together before, it's a combination I really like.

Fit and Flare Dresses Under $50:

How You Can Wear It:

Fit and flare dresses are such an easy option for work, and really don't need much accessorising. It's easy to throw on a statement necklace and go. If you want to add a little extra colour, you can try a brightly coloured bag like this purple Balenciaga work, or wrap a twilly scarf around your head or wrist for a fun pop against a neutral outfit.

Blue Printed Maxi Dresses, Balenciaga Tempete Day Bag: Second Trimester Summer Outfits

Dressing in pregnancy can be tricky with everything changing. So when something works one day, I'll take advantage of that and I'll repeat it again soon after. I actually wore these outfits one day after the other! Blue bag, blue printed maxi dresses, perfect for the summer heat.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Feather Print Maxi Dress second trimester summer BBQ outfit Balenciaga day bag

AwayFromTheBlue | Silver accessories bracelet stack Balenciaga G21 day bag 09 tempete storm giant hardware
Dress: JayJays feather print maxi dress
ShoesWittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals
Bracelets: the usual plus gifted silver cuff
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

Why I wore it:

The style challenge for the day was 'hair bling' and so I decided to wear this little sparkly star hair barrette that I've held onto since high school. I rediscovered it recently as part of my wardrobe clear out. I've been holding onto it for years despite never wearing it! It was fun to wear it for a day, as I usually tuck my hair behind my ear anyway. Wore this to have a post-Christmas BBQ with family.

Last worn: feather print maxi dressstudded sandalsBalenciaga Tempete day bag.

Other ways to wearprinted maxi dress for the beachstudded sandals and a wrap dressBalenciaga Tempete day bag and skinny jeans.

Beautiful blue maxi dresses under $100:

Necklace: gifted Eye Candy LA gold and turquoise cuff necklace
Dress: Jeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress
Shoes: Cotton On thin strap thongs in black
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

Why I wore it:

Wore this to tackle the stores soon after Boxing Day. Hubby had some things he wanted to buy and I was curious to check out some of the sales. After my bestie sent me pics of what the crowds looked like on boxing day itself, we followed her advice and left toddler T with his grandparents, which was the best decision. We got to the stores shortly after they opened on the 27th, but it was still madness! I usually wait until January before I venture out to the stores, this was the first year I've ever attempted the post-Christmas crowds in December. We did pick up some bargains but I'm not sure I'll be attempting it again next year! Might stick with online shopping.

The style challenge for the day was 'hats', but shopping isn't the best environment for a hat so I just wore one of my Hermes twillies in my hair instead. I also had the chance to wear my new necklace I got for Christmas, a gift from my wonderful bestie. I really liked the way it looked with this dress, even though everything else I was wearing was silver, I think it worked.

Last worn: Hermes Twilly, blue printed maxi dress, black thongs, Balenciaga tempete day bag (above).

Other ways to wearHermes Twilly as a bracelet, blue printed maxi dress for a first birthday party, Balenciaga day bag for the office.

Corporate Style: Maternity Pencil Skirts and Grey Tees in Summer, Rebecca Minkoff Mini MAB Bag

I will always love a grey tee! Even after my wardrobe detox session and finding out that grey wasn't the best colour for me, I still wear it and still have a bunch of grey tees in my wardrobe. They are just so easy to wear. And thankfully, my very relaxed 'business casual' office dress code makes a tee and a pencil skirt an easy outfit for a day without a lot of face-to-face meetings.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Second Trimester Office Wear Grey tee Asos maternity pencil skirt

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff MAM Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet rubis
Necklace: Diva red stone necklace
TeeAtmos&Here charcoal grey v neck tee
SkirtAsos maternity graphic print pencil skirt (non-maternity version here)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs studded mouse flats in grey (on sale in black)
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes Kelly double tour bracelet in rubis
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

This was the first outfit for the Fox in Flats style challenge, the theme was 'stripes' so I thought the graphic stripe print on this pencil skirt worked well, especially when worn with my favourite grey tee.

I added the red necklace for a bit of colour with the otherwise fairly monochrome outfit - and also as that was one of the tips the stylist gave me. If I insisted on keeping my grey tees (I did keep most of them...) then I should try to wear colourful accessories with them.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, grey tee, graphic print pencil skirt, studded mouse flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB.

Other ways to weargrey tee for casual Friday, graphic print pencil skirt and a black tank, studded mouse flats and denim shorts, casual SAHM outfits with Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB.

What I wore:

Away From Blue | Pregnancy Office Wear Asos maternity tartan pencil skirt monochrome outfit

AwayFromTheBlue | Rebecca Minkoff MAM Hermes Kelly En Caleche twilly bracelet
Necklace: pink beaded disc necklace (maybe Diva? Really old!)
TeeAsos new forever grey tee (on sale!)

ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs two tone flats in blush and black
Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes twilly Kelly en Calèche tied as bracelet
BagRebecca Minkoff MAB mini in soft grey

Why I wore it:

Again, going with the easy option of a grey tee and a printed pencil skirt. The style challenge for the day was 'new do' and as I'd got my hair cut the day before I just fell back on this simple outfit as the summer heat usually gets me feeling pretty uninspired and looking for easy options. That's why the DAREcember style challenge is so great, at a time I want to do nothing other than sit in the pool in a bikini, I'm encouraged to explore my wardrobe, try different things and have some fun with my clothes. I've shared more before about why I love instagram style challenges.

I just wouldn't go do anything as permanent as actually get a new haircut for a challenge next time, I regretted the cut pretty quickly! Thankfully I still have some unshared pics with my longer hair as I figure out how to style the new length.

Last worn: grey tee, tartan pencil skirt, Hermes twilly, cap toe flats, Rebecca Minkoff mini MAB (above).

Other ways to wear: grey tee layered up for winter, tartan pencil skirt and a ruffled cami, two tone flats and tights, Hermes twilly bow on a bagRebecca Minkoff MAM and a printed dress.

Asos is a great place to pick up some bargain pencil skirts that really last - I have skirts over 5 years old that are still going strong, and this is the second pregnancy for these maternity skirts! Plus you can get up to 70% off in their outlet.

Corporate Style: Marc By Marc Jacobs Lil Ukita Bag

Consistently, the Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita bag is one of the most clicked items on my blog. Probably because the rock lobster colour is awesome and it brightens up a neutral outfit really well. It's the perfect size for taking to work too.

What I wore:

Away from Blue | Second trimester black maternity jeans in office bright stripe tank

AwayFromTheBlue | Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster
Necklace: thrifted pearl and heart charm long necklace

Bracelets: the usual plus Roie Designs black leather Swarovski beaded wrap bracelet and JORD black Fieldcrest wood watch (C/O)
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Why I wore it:

As it was a slightly cooler day, I figured I'd get some wear out of my maternity jeans and wear them to the office again like I did with my last pregnancy. I did want to wear a button up shirt to look a little more professional, but couldn't find one that actually buttoned over the baby bump, ha! it was too hot to consider a blazer too, so I just wore the bright tank by itself.

I'm surprised I haven't worn this tank and bag together before, the colours go really well together.

Why I wore it:

Fully embracing the casual side of business casual with a grey tee and a pencil skirt for another day in the office. I'm lucky that my workplace has such a relaxed dress code and I can get away with wearing tees in the middle of the week.

After my Melbourne trip and drooling over some scarves and twillies in Hermes, I decided to get my twilly out again. I really can't pull off the neck scarf look without looking like a flight attendant, but I like wearing it around my wrist. I've done so before, but silk is not the most practical fabric to wear around a toddler so it hasn't been worn much recently. Need to make more of an effort to wear it. It was a nice way to have some colour in my outfit even when I wasn't wearing the bright Ukita bag.

Pink Blush Maternity Dress, Marc Jacobs Fran | Casual Friday Oscar's Law Tee, Striped Maxi Skirt, Bal Velo

Here's what I wore to work on Thursday:
Pink Blush maternity Burgundy Button Sash Maternity Dress Second Trimester

NecklaceDogeared 3 Wishes stardust bead necklace layered with Chanel necklace
Dress: burgundy button sash maternity dress C/O Pink Blush Maternity
Shoes: New Look brown cut-out detail shoe
Bracelets: the usual plus beaded black and gold bracelet set
BagMarc By Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran bag with gold hardware in carob brown

The lovely Olivia from Pink Blush Maternity contacted me a while ago to congratulate me on the baby news, and offer me the chance to try out one of their maternity pieces. I picked this lovely burgundy dress, as it's a maternity and nursing dress so I'm sure to get a lot of wear out of it. It arrived in just a week, really fast shipping from the US to Australia!

It's super soft and stretchy but not clingy so I know I'll be able to wear it lots as the baby bump grows. It certainly has enough room to allow for the growing bump. I like the adjustable tie, and it's really comfortable. With it being a nursing dress as well, I wasn't too sure if it was too low cut for the office so I wore a singlet underneath just to be on the safe side.

Asked my darling friend K for her honest opinion on the dress and she thinks it's beautiful, so definitely a winner! Looking forward to wearing it more over the next few months - my first maternity dress :) Getting a little maternity wardrobe going - 1 dress, 1 top, 2 pencil skirts, 3 pairs of jeans. Been getting some tips from friends about how to make use of my existing wardrobe too which is very helpful.

Last worn: Ray Bans, brown flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs Fran bag. First time I've worn the dress as it's a new arrival.

Here's what I wore to work today:

Bracelets: the usual plus Hermes twilly Kelly en Calèche tied as bracelet
BagBalenciaga Coquelicot Velo

If you've followed me for a while (or if you've looked in my sidebar) you'll know I strongly support Oscar's Law. They recently released a new fundraising tee so I had so snap it up right away! It reads: 'help break the puppy trade and don't buy the lie'. Oscar's Law is about ending the cruel puppy farm cycle by educating people, trying to get changes in the law to better protect puppy farm animals and stop stores from selling puppies.

We adopted Cooper, we support our local shelter and every chance I get I let people know how great rescue dogs are. Even resorting to using my baby belly as a mini billboard by wearing tees like this, haha! Added my Balenciaga velo for a bit of red today for Chinese New Year. Gong xi fa cai!
