Slouchy Tees, Shorts and LV Speedy bag for Summer

I'm trying to be smarter about what I have in my wardrobe and question the need for multiple items (like this jersey dress or another black maxi dress). The tees I'm wearing below are the exception. I bought one on sale at The Iconic in 2013 and then over a couple more seasons bought a grey one, striped one and a black one.

When I buy multiples of the same item at once I never seem to keep them all. When I love something so much I buy another after wearing the first one a while, I tend to wear them all frequently.

What I wore:

burgundy slouchy v neck atmos&here tee Jeanswest bermuda denim shorts studded sandals summer SAHM style | AwayFromBlue

Louis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere | Away From The Blue
Necklace: Ruby Olive Softies Charlotte teething necklace
TeeAtmos&Here rolled sleeve oversized tee in wine (similar in black or grey)
ShortsJeanswest Trinity Bermuda denim shorts (currently on sale!)
ShoesRebecca Minkoff Georgina studded gladiator sandals in blush (on sale!)
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

Simple jeans and tee outfit for a casual catch-up before Christmas with some other mums at the ABA. I wasn't sure if I should dress up for it, as I put the boys in little Christmas outfits. But in the end I decided just to be comfortable for running around. There were some mothers who dressed up and some who were just casual like me, so I didn't feel out of place. The relaxed tee and denim shorts were perfect for the style challenges on instagram too!

I really liked this outfit. Feels like every time I wear this slouchy tee I am happy with my outfit, it's been a wise purchase. Even if I have only worn it 14 times in three and a half years since I bought it.

Last worn: burgundy tee, bermuda denim shorts, studded sandals, Louis Vuitton speedy Bandouliere bag.

Other ways to wearburgundy tee and maxi skirt, bermuda denim shorts and embroidered tank, studded sandals and printed shorts, Louis Vuitton speedy Bandouliere bag in the office.

Sizing tip: if it's regular fit go for your usual size. If it says relaxed fit, best to size down.

What I wore:

black slouchy tee printed shorts casual relaxed SAHM style summer outfit | Away From Blue

Cooper, LV speedy B bag | AwayFromTheBlue
Sunnies: Ray-Ban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Wilma teething necklace in pale daffodil
TeeAtmos&Here rolled sleeve oversize tee in black (also in grey)
ShortsJeanswest 'Scarlette' printed shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagLouis Vuitton Damier Ebene 30 speedy bandouliere

Why I wore it:

I've worn an outfit similar to this before, just with the striped version of this tee! I really liked how comfortable this was. Wore this near the end of December, when we had to brave the shops and get some essentials at the pharmacy and try not to tempted by all the post-Christmas sales. The outfit fit the style challenge prompts for #DAREcember and #SummerStyleFile on instagram as well.

Unlike the last time where I wore an oversized tee with these shorts, I actually liked the voluminous pieces together. I think the necklace was the perfect pop against the black tee. It was a perfect outfit for a hot day that finished with a swim in the pool.

While there are times I'll go through my wardrobe and remove things I own multiples of (like this colour block top), I'm always glad I bought multiples of this tee. They've worked through two pregnancies, are perfect for breastfeeding and with a half-tuck are extremely good at disguising a saggy mum-tum.

Slouchy tees are clearly one of my wardrobe staples! As I continue #6monthsWithoutShopping I'll hopefully identify more wardrobe staples to make smarter shopping decisions in the future.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, black slouchy tee, printed shorts, Havaianas, Louis Vuitton damier speedy bag (above).

Other ways to wearblack slouchy tee and grey jeans, printed denim shorts and ankle boots, Louis Vuitton damier speedy bag and chambray skirt.

  1. How do you keep track of the times you wear something? Just by the pictures or do you note it down somewhere?

    1. I label everything so I can search my blog archives by the name of it. If i haven't named it I need to search by brand name which is tricker...but having a searchable blog archive makes things easy most of the time! :)

  4. Hi! I absolutely love your collection of relaxed tees. That's always a challenge for me to not buy multiple items as well. You accessorized the looks beautifully! Happy new week to you!

  5. Yea, buying multiples is hard. Sadly for me, the stuff I want multiples of are things you can't readily find again. Like a favorite pair of boots or jeans that I found randomly at Marshalls.

    1. Yes it's frustrating when something you like is no longer available to get in multiples, I have a few pieces I wish I'd bought an extra one of when they were in stores!

  6. The second outfit is so gorgeous and comfy! And I know what you mean about resisting post Christmas sales... It's a struggle, haha! I swear I spend more money after Christmas than during, lol! xoxo Hope you're well, lovely! <3

  7. Totally guilty of buying things in multiples. lol So you aren't alone there. However, it always seems super hard to find a good slouchy tee, yes? At least over here. It's rare I find a tee that I just never want to take off. Since I have to dress really "business casual" during the work week, I tend to rock my graphic tees on the weekends. I'm a huge nerd and have a million graphic tees. (;

  9. It seems like such a simple thing, but a good tee shirt can be hard to find! The ones I love I wear constantly. I love the color of that first tee, it's so pretty!
Have a great week Mica :)

  10. Cute outfits! I tend to wait after I love something to purchase multiples, though I've run into some disappointments of sizes and colors running out, which is one of the negatives to waiting, but that's the only way to truly know if it'll work for you! I love the way the bag looks with both outfits, the Damier print is one of my favorites, it's so different compared to other LV prints and goes so well with everything, creating a mixed patterned look when worn with other prints. Thanks for sharing and have a great week ahead!

  12. I find that so interesting, that you never seem to keep them all if you buy them all at the same time. I always do but that’s probably because I usually only buy two of the same thing if I buy more than one & it’s usually black & white haha
Love the addition of the bright necklace, it’s so fun! But I think my son would have tried to use it as a teether when he was a baby! haha

    1. haha yes I tend to think that things will work perfectly in my wardrobe but it's only after wearing them a few times that I'll really know, best for me to wait and see before buying multiples!

  13. I literally have so much admiration for the fact that you are attempting such a feat. 6 months without shopping is such a long time. Although, If I think about it, I tend to shop during one season, and force it to last me for the next two seasons. which translates roughly into 6 months. but this is only because I am a 21 year old person with not that much income yet. Also, how you manage to make teething necklaces look so stylish is beyond me. Loving the yellow one.

  15. I've never bought multiples of the same item but that's mostly just because I'm kind of cheap haha! But it's a really good idea to have a few of the same simple tees in different colors like you did here! Both outfits look so cute (as per usual), but I love the printed shorts a lot!

  17. Don't regret buying multiples of that top Mica! The style looks great on you and compliments things in your wardrobe. I think that is what you have to think about when buying multiples. It's when you don't wear them, that is when there is a problem.

  22. You make such a great point. Whenever I think I will want multiples and buy different colors all at once, I only end up keeping 1 or 2. But buying 1 and then more later I do tend to wear them all. That isn't something I realized until you said it! I will have to be more aware in the future to hopefully avoid unnecessary purchases!

  23. I love a good slouchy tee. I have cut way back on my shopping and the one thing that I've realized that I'm drawn to are plain t shirts. They're all easy to style and never go out of style.

  24. As much as i love a slouchy tee on others they do not look good on me. I think its my neck or maybe the fact that the fabric is usually really thin and just looks awful on me.
