Happy New Year! Star Print Shirt and Shorts. Print Mixing: Stripe Tank and Mini Skirt

This will be my last post for 2014! Crazy to think that I've been blogging for 3 years. Over 700 posts!

Thank you all for following along with my blog! 2014 has been a good year for me personally, being able to share my pregnancy news and maternity outfits with you, and the arrival of our little baby T. It's also been a year that has hit hard in other ways. Definitely a year of growth, and of re-prioritising. I don't think anyone, especially fellow Australians, have made it through the year without something making them stop and reflect. We are lucky in so many ways.

This little daily outfit blog has been good for letting me indulge in a bit of 'me-time' and some light-hearted, frivolous chatter about fashion and clothes and accessories. I'm just here to share my personal style, as I try to reduce the size of my wardrobe by wearing everything to decide if I should keep it and thinking harder about what I buy. It's so nice to have people supporting my little hobby, through shopping through my affiliate links or leaving a kind comment. Its been lovely making some new bloggy friends too!

No matter what 2014 held for you, 2015 is a new year, a chance to start over. You can change as much or as little as you want. But whatever you decide to start doing, stop doing or continue doing, I hope that 2015 is a happy year for you and those you love.

Now, onto the outfits!

Here's what I wore to do a little bit of shopping:
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Nibbly Bits Abacus necklace in pop
Shirt: thrifted Zara star print shirt
ShortsJeanswest denim cuff shorts
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

The style challenge for the day was 'off the cuff', I knew with the heat I'd be wearing my denim cuffed shorts, and I decided to wear the shirt too just because of the cuffed sleeves. I thought as I'd be spending the morning in air conditioning that the shirt would be okay, especially when paired with shorts, but I ended up rolling the sleeves up as the humidity cranked up during the day.

This is the first time I've featured this necklace on the blog - although I have worn it before. It was an afterthought to my work lunch outfit so I didn't get a photo of it, but it helped entertain baby T as we ate lunch. My mother in law got me it for my birthday, and I've already ordered a couple more pieces. It's baby teething jewellery, which is perfect for an inquisitive, grabby and drooly little boy like baby T. I wore it as I thought we might be a while out at the stores and I wanted to be able to keep him amused easily. If he's sitting in his stroller I can just pull the necklace off and dangle it in front of him, and when I'm carrying him he can tug and play away without me worrying he's going to drop it. Does anyone else have experience with silicone jewellery for teething babies? Any good brands or styles I should look out for? I've been impressed with this one so far.

Last worn: star print shirt, denim shorts, Havaianas, Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag.

Here's what I wore to pop out to the shops again:
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
TopGlassons striped tank in silver marle and white
Skirt: Roxy succulents pleated skirt in Indigo
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

Baby T might be over 6 months old, but the mummy-brain forgetfulness is still in full force! I had to go out again to do the final grocery run before Christmas, after failing to reference the list I'd written the previous day and forgetting a few things. I wasn't really happy with the idea of shopping so close to Christmas, but we got in early and got what we needed before the big rush, thankfully. Only took a little longer than I wanted.

The style challenge for the day was 'going up': hemlines or hair or socks. I thought a mini skirt would fit the challenge well, and it was okay for walking around Woolies with baby in his stroller. Not the most ideal outfit for playtime and tummy time at home afterwards though, the hem felt much too short! Had a little bit of print mixing with the striped tank. I wore this skirt with stripes last time I wore it too.

Last worn: Wayfarers (see above), striped tank, Roxy mini skirt, Asos sandals, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag (above).

Band Tee, Metallic Skinny Jeans | Printed Tee Dress, Studded Sandals

No more point and shoot camera! Yey! I'm so thankful that the insurance company quickly finalised my claim on my broken camera so I could have a great camera again just in time for baby's first Christmas! I am also very happy I don't have to use self timer for photos any more, I was spoiled by having a camera remote, and really pleased to have that functionality back.

I'm still playing catch-up on the blog, so two more pre-Christmas outfits I wore, inspired by the Fox in Flats DAREcember style challenge. I'm playing along every day on instagram and sharing a pic of my outfits, even if I don't get a blog photo.

Here's what I wore to have a quiet Saturday at home:
Bones and Skin KissChasy band tee metallic rocker sass and bide skinny jeans
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Tee: band tee from KissChasy "Bones and skin" tour
JeansSass and Bide 'Three Words' metallic gold jeans
Shoes:  black slim Havaianas thongs

The style challenge for the day was 'Rock out' to create an 'I'm with the band' type outfit. I thought the metallic jeans would be perfect! A good twist to a normal jeans and tee outfit with the metallic fabric. I just had to wear my band tee too to really tie in with the theme, and because I have an entire box full of band tees I never ever wear. This one has to be my favourite. I've worn it a couple times but every time I do I remember the eventful gig I was at when I bought it, and spending the evening in the hospital afterwards. Definitely one of the more memorable shows.

The jeans were okay for babywearing too! Usually I prefer to wear skirts or dresses so I don't overheat when I'm carrying baby T in his ergo, but it was a slightly cooler day so I wasn't too warm after our morning walk. No handbag, as I still haven't figured out the best way to wear bags when I'm babywearing.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarer, KissChasy band tee, metallic skinny jeans, Havaianas.

Here's what I wore to pop out without baby:
Atmos&Here Willow printed tee dress Balenciaga studded sandals RM Love bag summer outfit
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
DressAtmos & Here Willow printed tee dress
ShoesBalenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH
BagRebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

Hubby looked after baby T for the afternoon, so I had the chance to go out by myself for a bit. It still feels strange doing things without baby! Took the opportunity to wear my favourite dress and some pretty sandals.

The style dare for the dare was "product free", which is easy for me to do as I'm often too hurried in the morning to put on makeup. I tend to reserve make up for special occasions or days when I know I'll have help with baby so I can spend an extra few minutes getting ready. I wear BB cream every day though, discovered that back in the first trimester when I was dealing with morning sickness and needed to get ready and look pulled together quickly each morning. Will not be giving up the BB cream any time soon! Went hair-product free instead, and the cute waves I woke up with quickly unravelled later in the day without any styling spray to help hold them. I ended up just tying my hair back in the afternoon. Didn't really matter by that stage anyway, I was back at home and working at Church Online. The best part about online church - don't need to put effort into what I look like when I attend!

Last worn: Wayfarers (see above), printed tee dress, Balenciaga sandals, Rebecca Minkoff Love bag.

Post Christmas Sales, Curves and Cat Eyes Style Challenge Outfits

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! If you got some gift cards or some money you're looking to spend in the Boxing Day sales, check out the Sales and Discounts page. I've added some sales info to the bottom of the post too. Happy shopping!

Continuing on with my behind-in-blogging catch up posts, sharing more of my Fox in Flats DAREcember Style Challenge outfits.

Here's what I wore to have lunch with my colleagues:
Nursing Friendly Outfit post baby non maternity wrap dress pink sandals
Dress: Jeanswest floral wrap dress
ShoesBalenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH

As work starts to slow down a little around Christmas time, I took the chance to go into the city in the afternoon to have a leisurely lunch with some colleagues. I'm so thankful for my friend K organising everything for me, I just had to turn up. I was really nervous about how baby would behave, in a noisy restaurant while people were trying to talk and eat....but he did really well! Let me have a proper 'grown up lunch', smiling away and playing quietly as we chatted. I think feeding him before hand and being ready to feed him at the table if needed helped a bit.

The style prompt for the day was 'curves', and dressing post-baby curves is sometimes tricky I'll be honest! But a wrap dress flatters all curves - from little ones to large ones! The tie and the print helps draw attention away from the baby belly. Thought the dress was good for meeting the challenge for the day, and looking put-together enough for lunch with everyone dressed up in business attire.

Last worn: printed wrap dress, Balenciaga studded sandals.

Here's what I wore to go to a Christmas party:
Mothers Group Christmas Party Outfit Rebecca Minkoff Boy Bag Feather Print Maxi Dress
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Chanel necklace
Dress: JayJays feather print maxi dress
ShoesBalenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH
Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Love cross body bag in grey

The style challenge for the day was 'cat eyes', mentioning sunnies or eye-liner. I don't have cat eye sunnies and I couldn't find the lonely and very old eye-liner I have. I thought this dress kind of fitted the theme, as the peacock feather print has 'eyes' on it? Definitely stretching it with this outfit!

Was a comfortable and pretty outfit to wear to baby T's Christmas party though! We had a little catch up with the ladies from the mother's group who hadn't yet gone away for Christmas, and exchanged gifts for the babies. It was a lot of fun! I took the chance to wear my new handbag too, the Rebecca Minkoff Love bag. Mum got me it for my birthday, I'm so happy as I've been wanting it a while. Definitely wouldn't be able to get the Chanel boy bag, this is a cute alternative option I've been hoping for since I first saw it. Didn't really need a handbag, as I only popped out to the shops quickly before the party and could have just put my stuff in the baby bag, but wanted to use my new bag.

Last worn: wayfarers, feather print maxi dress, Balenciaga sandals (above). First time I've worn the handbag as it was a recent gift.

As mentioned, there are a few sales around! I'm keeping the Sales and Discount page up to date, but I've included a few below too to save you clicking through.

Merry Christmas!

I hope you have a very merry Christmas.

However you celebrate, I hope you enjoy spending some time with friends and family. Not everyone celebrates the birth of Jesus at Christmas time, but it is still a special day to be with those you care about, and exchange a few gifts. I already have a little something from Louis Vuitton under the tree for me!

In the light of recent events, this year more than ever I want to make sure to share the love at Christmas time. I've got presents wrapped under the tree for those I can celebrate with, and cards and presents sent to those who are far away.

I'm also going to be messaging every facebook friend to wish them a merry Christmas and let them know why I'm grateful for them this year. To be honest, it will be a work in progress I'm hoping to complete before 2015 as I have a few friends on my list! Taking just a moment to say merry Christmas and letting someone know they are important to you is such a simple thing that can really make someone's day. Something personal, something meaningful and something full of love.

Christmas is a time for love and peace. Make sure to take the opportunity to share that love with someone. Whether it's through an expensive gift, a touching card, a simple hug, or a smile for a stranger...it doesn't take much, but it makes the world a better place.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Christmas Maxi Dress Outfit, Casual Shorts and Print Mixing. Balenciaga Bags

Two more Fox in Flats Darecember style challenge outfits I've worn. The first is what I wore for an early Christmas, maxi dresses are always a favourite of mine for Christmas, forgiving after you've stuffed yourself with delicious food!

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas! Just a few more sleeps!

Here's what I wore to celebrate Christmas with hubby's family:
Jeanswest snake print maxi dress Balenciaga sang GSH flat clutch
DressJeanswest grey snake print maxi dress
Shoes: Asos 'five star' leather sandals (new purchase)
Bracelets: the usual plus silver charm bracelet
BagBalenciaga flat clutch GSH in 2010 Sang

A Christmas outfit already! As some of hubby's family were going overseas, we held a big get-together for an early Christmas. We exchanged gifts, ate a yummy Christmas meal and had fun celebrating early.

I'd made the decision this year not to buy a new dress to celebrate Christmas in, partly because we will be having so many Christmas get-togethers! I still hadn't decided what dress I'd wear to each Christmas event when I saw that the style challenge for the day was 'bare back', and this backless maxi seemed like a great choice for the party.

The clutch wasn't really necessary as I left it in the baby bag the whole time anyway, it just helped me feel a little more "dressed up" for the occasion. I wasn't sure about the pale pink sandals and the red clutch, but felt they were far enough apart that it didn't matter that they didn't match. I was eager to wear my new shoes!

It makes me really happy to see that the last time I wore this dress, I was pregnant and going for an evening out with hubby. Our last baby-free dinner date! This is a more casual and dressed down look then before.

Last worn: snake print maxi dress, Balenciaga flat clutch. First time I've worn the sandals.

Here's what I wore to go out without baby T:
Summer Print Mixing outfit grey stripe tee Jeanswest printed shorts Bal day bag
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Tee: Cotton On 'Asher' short sleeve tee in white and grey marl deck stripe
ShortsJeanswest 'Scarlette' printed shorts (on sale, 40% off!)
ShoesAsos 'five star' leather sandals
BagBalenciaga giant hardware Day bag in 2009 tempete

My favourite of my style challenge outfits so far, 'print mixing' was the prompt and I knew stripes would be one of my prints. I do wear a lot more stripes now!

Wore this out to go into the city for the first time without baby T. He stayed at home as DH and I caught up after work to view the results of the family photo shoot we'd had a few days earlier. (I didn't get blog photos of my photo shoot outfit, it was just jeans and a tee). It was a really strange experience being in the city by myself! It was such a hot day I was glad I'd picked a simple outfit to wear as I got a little lost trying to find my way to the photo studio on foot.

So soon after the first wear above, this is the second wear of my new shoes, so my thoughts:

I'm really pleased I snapped these up in the Asos sale, I felt I needed a nice simple sandal option for those days when I want to be a little more dressed up than I am in my trusty Havaianas. I've owned a few Asos leather sandals, they always last a couple years and are super cheap, so I'm happy with this purchase and see the shoes being worn a fair bit. Hope you've enjoyed reading along as I analyse all my new purchases - it's certainly making me think more about things I buy and actually helping me to buy less, even though it's only been a few months since I started sharing my purchase reviews on the blog.

While I'm happy to have added the shoes to my wardrobe, this tee is leaving! I've worn it three times on the blog since I bought it (here, here and now), which isn't a lot for something I've had 2 years. It sounds good, a grey striped tee, and it was a bargain, so good that I picked it up and bought it without even trying it on. I've never been completely happy with it any time I've worn it, and this time around was the same, I worried it was sitting oddly or that the stripes looked weird...I have other striped tees and other grey tees I love more, so this tee is going in the donate pile. No point in holding onto and wearing something I don't love.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarersstriped tee, printed shorts, leather sandals (above), Balenciaga Tempete Day bag.

Maxi Skirt Outfits: Brights, Neutrals and Yellow

I think I'm getting slightly better at taking self timer photos with my old little point and shoot camera after accidentally dropping my usual camera. Two more outfits - but only one was a Fox in Flats DAREcember style challenge outfit, the other was what I wore when I couldn't wear an outfit to meet the challenge that day.

Here's what I wore to take baby T for his vaccinations:
Ombre summer outfit seafolly maxi skirt yellow love tee
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
TeeHendrick Boards Love Changes Everything for Champ tee
Skirt: Seafolly runaway maxi skirt in sunset
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs

The style challenge for the day was "bright" so I wanted to wear a really colourful outfit. I thought this ombre maxi skirt would be perfect, paired with the yellow tee for even more colour. It would have been nice to have my normal camera and an accurate colour representation, but hopefully I won't be using this little point and shoot and self timer much longer.

Sadly, this tee isn't staying in my wardrobe. I don't know if it was because I last wore it when I was in the second trimester, or because baby T loves to grab and pull on things, but this tee has really stretched out. It's definitely not the size small it once was! I won't explain the full embarrassing story, but I ended up sharing more than I wanted to in the doctor's waiting room as baby T pulled on my top. Won't be wearing it again, as much as I love the message on it. I bought it over a year ago from Hendrick Boards, and a portion of that sale went to an animal shelter, so it's good that I can donate it and create more money for another animal shelter when it's sold through the AWLQ.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, love changes everything tee, ombre maxi skirt, Havaianas.

Here's what I wore to go shopping with my sister:
Cream ruffle cami grey marle maxi skirt yellow Rebecca Minkoff swing bag
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Lovisa silver love knitted heart pendant necklace
Singlet: Jeanswest 'Maria' cami in cream
SkirtTarget grey marle maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagRebecca Minkoff Swing bag in canary yellow (on sale in black)

Wearing my Havaianas again! The style challenge for the day was 'killer heels' but there is no way I could wear them looking after baby T. I did take a pic of them on instagram for the challenge that day though. Flats are much more practical! I've had a few comments now and then on the blog that my outfits would look much better with something other than thongs, but I'm a Queenslander...thongs are my shoe of choice most of the time, especially on hot days. I'm not going to wear pretty shoes just to get a pretty picture, I share what I actually wear.

As I didn't pick my outfit out based on the style challenge prompt for the day, I just went with what was comfortable. The bright bag would have looked so nice with the previous day's outfit, but I just carried the baby bag then. I thought the yellow was nice against the neutral tones. Wore this to spend the day out shopping with my sister and baby T, crossing a few last minute things off our Christmas lists. This year I'd managed to run out of both wrapping paper and sticky tape, so we had to brave the madness that was our local Westfield in December. I try to finish my Christmas shopping before December every year just so I can avoid the stores, it's much too hectic for my liking.

Last worn: Rayban Wayfarers (see above), white ruffle cami, grey maxi skirt, Havaianas (see above), Rebecca Minkoff swing bag.

More Darecember Style Challenge Outfits: Black Tank, Striped Skirt, Shirt, Shorts and Converse

More Fox in Flats DAREcember challenge outfits, as well as the continuation of photos from my old point and shoot camera since I damaged my camera. I am trying my best to get good quality photos, but I have to use the self timer and I don't have a lot of time to change settings and re-take a photo if it messes up on the first shot. Life with baby!

Here's what I wore to go to the doctors:
SunniesRayban new Wayfarers
Brooch: gifted floral brooch
TopZalora basics ruffle hem tank in black
SkirtCheap Monday interrupted stripe skirt in grey
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs

Simple outfit for a doctor's visit in the afternoon and staying at home all morning as we had the pest guy over. The style challenge for the day was "pinned", so I took the chance to wear this cute floral brooch from my bestie. I'd been meaning to pin it onto one of my bags so I can wear it more often, but I hadn't gotten around to it. I thought worn like this, it added some nice interest to this black tank too.

When I bought this tank and thought about all the ways I could wear it, I realised it was quite limited. I decided on this day to try wear it tucked in for a change, as I hadn't thought of that before. The top has a cute ruffle detail at the bottom so it's a slight peplum. This skirt flares out around the waist anyway so I didn't feel that the peplum added any bulk to it. It certainly would have been too much if I'd tried to layer it under a tighter more bodycon skirt though. Was really pleased with how this turned out, and how I managed to make the tank look quite different from how it looked the last time I wore it.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, peplum tank, striped skirt, Havaianas.

Here's what I wore to run errands and do a bit of shopping:
Shirt: Target mint stripe shirt
ShortsJeanswest black denim cuff shorts
ShoesConverse Chuck Taylor All Star low in black

Such a busy day! Had some errands to run in the morning, found and dropped my camera off at a repair place approved by my insurer, and then did a little bit of op-shopping (thrifting). I didn't buy anything, but I was on the hunt for a pretty dress for Christmas. This is the first year in a long time that I haven't bought a new outfit to wear on Christmas day, and I was hoping I could satisfy my urge for something new without spending too much by getting something second hand. One of the stores had a sale on and dresses were $5, but there was nothing perfect for me, so I passed on the ones I'd tried on. I didn't really need a new dress anyway, I have plenty! It's just a want.

This outfit was comfortable and cool for all the running around I did. The shirt is super-soft cotton, so nice. The style prompt for the day was "His". None of hubby's clothes would fit me, and I definitely couldn't wear anything that belongs to the baby or the dog...so I went kind of menswear inspired with the shirt and Converse Chucks. Thought it was a nice twist on the theme.

Last worn: striped shirt, denim shorts, Converse.

Comfortable Dressing: Black Maxi Skirts and Tanks. Animal Print, Sparkle and Stripes

2 more DARECEMBER style challenge outfits, and it just happened to be two black maxi skirt outfits! A very comfortable couple of days.

Here's what I wore to go out to the post office:
Tank: Jeanswest animal print racer back singlet
SkirtJeanswest plain jersey black maxi skirt
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs pretty nylon Eliz-A-Baby bag

The style challenge for the day was "in the wild" so I knew I'd have to wear something with a bit of animal print in it. Went with this tank. Last time I wore it I mentioned that although it's rarely worn, it always seems to survive my wardrobe clear outs. I think that's because while I don't love it, there's nothing wrong with it. It's comfortable and easy to wear, and the print is different from any of my other tanks. I wore it with the intention of finally making my mind up about if it should stay or go in my wardrobe, and to be honest I'm still on the fence! So it's staying in my wardrobe again for now, will see how I feel next time I wear it!

This was a casual and comfy outfit - I didn't have much to do so comfort was the most important thing. We spent the morning finally setting up the Christmas tree (so behind with that!) and then in a break in the drizzle I went out for a walk with baby T and Cooper as we had to mail some parcels. Was a little bit behind with Christmas presents and cards too!

Last worn: animal print tank, black maxi skirt, Havaianas, Marc by Marc Jacobs baby bag.

Here's what I wore to go out in the morning and have lunch in the afternoon:
TopFrench Connection feather foil singlet
SkirtTarget black and white striped maxi skirt
Shoes: Wittner 'Jasmarie' studded sandals

A little bit of a busy day! Baby T and I went to the library rhyming session with my mother in law, and then we went out for a family lunch in the afternoon with everyone. It didn't take long for baby T to leave his milky mark on this tank, but hopefully the pretty sparkle distracted everyone from the spit-up!

The style challenge for the day was "all black", but I thought I'd be a little different by adding some stripes and colour through the glitter on the tank. As it was another rainy day, the darker outfit seemed quite fitting. Again, no bag of my own as I just carried the baby bag.

You might notice the difference in quality between the first and last photos! In all the excitement of setting up the Christmas decorations and taking lots of photos of baby T's first Christmas tree...I managed to damage my camera. The lens hit the ground and it's definitely not in working order any more. I've been on maternity leave for 6 months now, and with Christmas as well....the budget can't really stretch to replace the camera. Thankfully, the camera was insured against accidents (for clumsy people like me!). It means it won't cost us much to fix it, but we do have to go through the process laid out by the insurer. There are a lot of insurance claims at the moment in Brisbane after the super storms we had a few weeks back, so it is completely understandable that the claim to fix my camera is quite low priority.

I've reverted back to the little point and shoot I first used for the blog. It will be self timer photos for a while. I don't know how long I'll have to use this camera for, but hopefully not long. I'd really like to have my camera back and fixed so I can take lots of photo and video for baby's first Christmas....just reminding myself that I'm lucky to have still kept my old camera to fall back to, and that the camera was insured and that the claim we are waiting on is for something so small and non-essential.

Last worn: glitter singlet, striped maxi skirt, studded sandals.

Orange Kisses and Gold (Neon Leopard Print, Bracelet Stack and Maxi Skirt)

Two more Fox in Flats Darecember outfits! I'm participating in the style challenge each day on instagram, and blogging the outfits I manage to get photos of.

Here's what I wore to do some Christmas shopping:
Sass and Bide New day rising neon leopard tee skinny jeans
Tee: Sass and Bide 'New Day Rising' tee in orange leopard print
JeansJeanswest Super Skinny Jeans in Mid Indigo
Shoes:  black slim Havaianas thongs

The style challenge for the day was "orange kisses". I was thinking of doing orange accessories, until I remembered this tee in my wardrobe. The neon orange seemed like the best fit - as I don't own any orange lippy. I only have one lipstick actually, the same shade I wore to my wedding, just a really simple natural colour. I'm not a big lipstick fan.

Nice jeans and a tee outfit for a bit of Christmas shopping. No necklace, as I felt the tee was attention grabbing enough. Hopefully no one looked too closely at what I was wearing though, as I realised at the end of the day when I got undressed that there was a big broccoli stain on the tee from baby T's breakfast! I hadn't looked in a mirror after he'd eaten. Nobody said anything so maybe I got away with it ;) I had thought I was clever getting up, dressed and taking outfit pictures before baby had even woken up too. Pyjamas are a much safer option for breakfast with baby!

Last worn: leopard print tee, skinny jeans, Havaianas.

Here's what I wore to go shopping with my sister:
Brown printed tank asos colour block maxi skirt Brisbane city shopping outfit
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
NecklaceHouse of Harlow Dynamic necklace in gold
Top: Jeanswest floral print brown ribbed tank
SkirtAsos colour block maxi skirt in red (on sale!)
Shoes: Wittner 'Columbia' cross strap sandals in tan
Bracelets: the usual plus pink and gold bracelet stack
Bag:  Louis Vuitton MM damier azur neverfull

I rediscovered this top during one of my wardrobe clean outs in pregnancy, and I'm so glad I did. It was my old favourite for a while, and it makes me smile every time I wear it.

The style challenge for the day was "gold", which is such an easy one! I had a few outfit options to chose from. I really wanted to wear my metallic skinny jeans, they would have been perfect for this! But it was so hot and humid I decided on gold accessories instead.

The skirt and sandals were worn together previously too! The shoes will be worn a bit over summer, as they are a slightly dressier option than my usual default of my Havaianas thongs.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarersbrown tank, colour block maxi skirt, leather sandals, LV Neverfull tote.

December Outfits and Fox In Flats DAREcember Style Challenge

This month I'm playing along with another Fox In Flats style challenge - DAREcember. I'm trying to share a pic every day on instagram, even if I don't always get a blog outfit photo.

Here's what I wore to go to a first aid course:
Away From Blue Jeanswest Purple Tank Printed Shorts Balenciaga Sorbet Sandals
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
TankJeanswest Jenni basic singlet in Royal Lilac purple
ShortsJeanswest 'Scarlette' printed shorts (on sale, 40% off!)
ShoesBalenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH
Bracelets: the usual plus old Diva purple, blue and pink bracelet stack

First official day of summer called for a nice and colourful outfit. The style prompt for the day was "stacked up", easy to do by adding some bright bangles.

Wore shorts as the ladies in my mothers group had organised a baby and kid first aid course. There was lots of participation trying different things, so shorts were good to ensure coverage as I alternated between cuddling and feeding baby T and practising on the first aid dummies. It was really good to learn how to give first aid for a baby, but it's something that - like my adult first aid skills - I hope I'll never have to use.

Second wearing of these shorts since I bought them in November, so my purchase review:

I'm so glad I picked these up! I do have a few pairs of shorts, but they are all denim ones and so these add a little variety to my wardrobe. Like my other shorts, they will only be worn in the warmer weather, which I'm happy with as I got them on sale and didn't spend much. With the extremely hot summers we have in Queensland not everything can be a year-round piece, and I'm okay with that for some of my wardrobe items. I just don't want to make a habit of buying pieces I can only wear in limited ways.
So far the shorts have only been worn with tank tops, but that's exactly how I envisaged wearing them and I figure I have so many different tanks that it's not going to get repetitive. It doesn't sound like a winner (can only wear a few ways, season-specific, something I already own a lot of) but something that I still like and will get wear out of regardless, as I bought it after considering the downsides.

Here's what I wore to go shopping with my mum and sister:
AwayFromBlue Pattern Mixing Polka Dot Cami Striped Maxi Skirt MbMJ Ukita
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
Necklace: Diva long red heart necklace
Cami: Jeanswest 'Mia' cami in black
SkirtAT by Atmos&Here Mars striped maxi skirt
ShoesAsos metallic Freestyle leather sandals
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

The challenge for the day was "to the max" so of course I had to wear a maxi skirt! Added in a bit of print mixing too with the stripes and polka dots. I ended up having to swap out these sandals for thongs instead in the morning. I noticed while walking Cooper that they don't fit any more. They have an elasticated strap around the heel and when I last wore them (while heavily pregnant!), I didn't put them away properly and I've stretched out the strap. When I hobbled home I quickly grabbed my thongs instead before heading out. The sandals have left my wardrobe!

Baby T and I stopped off for a check-up with the Child Health Nurse and then we met up with my mum and sister to do some Christmas shopping at the outlets. Of course we stopped by the Jeanswest outlet....they had a special on, jeans for only $10! I wasn't in love with any of the fits from the few I tried on though so I left them behind. Gave myself a little pat on the back for being sensible. Before, I'd have snapped up the jeans even though I didn't love them, just because they were such a good bargain.

Last worn: polka dot cami, striped maxi skirt, gold sandals, Marc by Marc Jacobs Ukita bag.

Simple Dresses for Summer

These are the last two of my November outfits, farewelling spring. Just two simple dress outfits. I feel my dressing with baby is a lot lazier than usual. Less accessories, less time thinking of what to wear, and more reaching for the simple yet lovely pieces like these pretty dresses.

Here's what I wore to visit a friend:
away from the blue asos grey fabric colour block skater dress red accessories
ScarfAlexander McQueen red skull-print modal and cashmere-blend scarf
DressAsos grey skater dress (on sale!)
ShoesMarc by Marc Jacobs suede flats in red

Nice and simple outfit. Last time I wore this dress I added a belt and I wasn't too keen on it, so I went without a belt this time. Popped out to visit a friend with baby T. I try to schedule most things so that he's had a feed at home and is either napping or due for a nap when we are out somewhere, makes it a little easier as I'm less likely to have a cranky baby. Babies are unpredictable though, and he didn't fall asleep in the car like I expected him too. We walked around a little bit, and rocked the stroller back and forth until he finally fell asleep.

Added a scarf to the dress as it was a little cooler with the recent rain. Not sure how much more longer I'll be able to wear my scarves for as summer is definitely here now, but I'm trying to take advantage of the cooler days to wear them as much as possible. They are a helpful extra layer to have with a messy baby.

Last worn: skull scarf, grey skater dress, red suede flats.

Here's what I wore to go visit Santa:

Necklacecustom Cooper charm by Silhoupette
DressJeanswest 'Chelsea' printed dress (on sale!)
BeltAsos skinny pale pink belt
ShoesBalenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH

Took the two boys (Cooper and baby T) to go visit Santa! I knew we would be in a rush to get out the door on time, so I picked another simple outfit - blue dress and pink accessories. I like the combination of blue and pink together. We managed to get to the appointment on time, although I did forget my camera so took a quick outfit photo with my phone instead. Didn't want to waste the chance to get a bit of a different background for my OOTD picture ;)

It was much easier picking what I was going to wear than picking baby T's outfit. Being his first Christmas we have gone a little overboard buying him Christmas outfits....as a result I've spent much more time than any sane person probably would drawing up lists of what Christmas events we are going to and what outfits would be best for him to wear to each! Cooper was a lot simpler. Despite having a little collection of cute Christmas antlers to wear, meeting Santa is scary enough for him that we don't add to it by dressing him up any more. As much as I would love to! He actually did really well with Santa this year, not as scared as previous years. We've already turned our family photo into this year's Christmas cards!

Maxi Dresses and Handbags: Casual Catch Up and Christmas Party

Here's what I wore to catch up with some other mummies:
SunglassesRayban new Wayfarers
DressJeanswest 'Elodie' tie dye grey jersey maxi dress
Shoesblack slim Havaianas thongs
Bracelets: the usual plus Balenciaga classic double tour bracelet in pearly grey
BagMarc by Marc Jacobs Little Ukita bag in Rock Lobster

Wore this maxi dress out to the babies group at the local library to catch up with all the other mummies. I like wearing maxi skirts and dresses to this event each week as when I sit down on the floor with baby T, the dress makes an impromptu mat for baby T, if I've forgotten to include one of his little tummy time rugs in the baby bag!

This wasn't how I originally wore the maxi dress though. I usually tuck the elastic panel in under itself when I wear this dress (like here), and belt it so it stays in place. It makes it the perfect length for me. I was in such a rush that morning that I forgot to belt it. So I stood up holding baby T, and nearly tripped on the hem of the dress as I did so. I quickly tied a knot in the bottom of the dress to keep it off the floor, and wrapped a hair tie around it to keep it in place. I actually kinda liked the look when I got home! Not the most perfectly executed knot, but it stopped me tripping over myself and it was nice to wear this dress a little differently from the usual! Held in place when I went grocery shopping afterwards too.

Last worn: Ray-Ban Wayfarers, tie dye maxi dress, Havaianas, Marc by Marc Jacobs little Ukita bag.

Here's what I wore for a Christmas party:
NecklaceHouse of Harlow Dynamic necklace in gold
DressJeanswest 'Chantelle' crochet detail blue printed maxi dress (on sale!)
ShoesBalenciaga studded sandals in sorbet RGGH
Bracelets: the usual plus gold bangle set
BagChanel vintage quilted lambskin flap from Reebonz

Another Jeanswest maxi dress! I like how easy maxi dresses are to style - you can wear them casually or dress them up a little. Wore this out to hubby's company's Christmas party. The venue and dress code was a bit more relaxed than previous years, but since I've always worn a maxi dress to this event each year, I figured that there was no need to break with tradition by wearing anything else! I spotted quite a few other maxi dress wearers there too, it's always a good choice for a party.

I wasn't sure about the black Chanel bag with the blue dress, but as I so rarely get the chance to get dressed up for an evening now with baby T, I thought it best to wear the bag when I knew it would be safe from inquisitive little hands ;) Just realised that I wore this handbag on my last evening date with hubby - our anniversary dinner the week before baby T arrived! I did try wear it frequently when I first got it, but I think if I want it to stay in good shape for another 30 years (it's an oldie!) then it's best to keep it to special occasions.

Last worn: printed maxi dress, Balenciaga sandals, vintage Chanel flap bag.
